Great video! Will be sure to subscribe. I will be starting my second year in college and working to get into cyber security I have heard different things and was glad to hear that the college degree is worth getting. Great stuff keep it up!
Grant, Great Video. I am a Pre-Sales Solutions/Network Engineer looking to get my CyberSecurity BS Degree. Your in-sign has been a great help. Keep up the great work. I am working my way through your videos. thank you for all you do. -jr
I really don't like when people bash getting a college education. Most employers filter resumes to degree holders. Having graduated with a degree in Computer Information Systems, it was well worth the experience.
@benzo Thankfully, in my education, the professors I had were excellent. There is not a problem with learning on one's own, but getting a job will certainly be an undertaking. The hospital I worked in required a bachelors degree as well as the government jobs; I lived in San Diego, so defense contractor jobs are prevalent. This is absolutely true IMO because you'll often find real life applications in the job itself and not the degree.
awesome. I'm actually using ITProTV for a lot of learning, I also have a subscription to 2600 which is awesome. I'm going to check out professor messer, sounds good.
So he booked a session for 20$ for someone who teaches him wireshark and booked a guy that basically told him "learn the basics". I dunno but seems to me that he could have learned that by just browsing the web... and if he wants his questions answered, Udemy seems to give you more for your money
The best idea worth a debate still is the need for a degree in cybersecurity. The last guy has 6y, that's fine, but it would be a great idea to find someone with at least 10y. I'm not saying that this person with 10y experience would have a different idea. It's just about the time and experience different people hold. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing this video!
LordThunder you should work on a security + certification as well, it’ll help your job security tremendously. I did so during a slow month in my universities library.
hello, i'm a sophomore in Vietnam. I'm currently majoring in CyberSec. Can i ask you a question ?. I've read some news and they said "AI is going to steal CyberSec jobs". Is this true or not ? i've also asked some people and they said "AI will only help automate the mundane tasks involved, there are so many sectors of CyberSec, most of which cannot be automated". Thank you very much bro !!!
I think you've just answered your own question. I am also studying InfoSec and I don't see machines stealing our jobs any time soon, stop worrying about that and just focus on honing your skills for the time being bud.
I agree with Jake here 100%. Right now, I would focus on your skill and not worry about AI. We can always come up with excuses to why cybersecurity won't be a thing in the future, but we can't predict the perfect future. What you can focus on right now is the present!
Certainly AI/ML is being added to lots of "Cyber" tools to help sell their products, and some do actually help cut down on noise, Although by using AL/ML to reduce the the number of false positive dose not take into account when your systems have been misconfigured and creating alerts that could be potentially be an attacker, using ML may accually hide some real attack due to the ML tuning the alerts out. Companies by Cyber products as they believe buying a tool will make them secure, in reality you still need someone who understands Cyber to really help keep the company secure. It's not buy this tool and you will be safe, it's a on going process that is moving all the time. You will find that most companies fail on security by not doing the basics, for example, knowing what Assets they have, who has access to what and patching. This is all the boring stuff that IT fails to do properly.
I can teach anything in cybersecurity for free of cost 😁 and have been doing same by conducting free of cost hands on workshops for penetration testing in my university to students. If you ever wanna know about IoT security and cryptography would love to help you out...
It depends on your preference! everyone's learning style is a bit different. For me personally, I like a combination of both. Online learning for personal projects / use. In-person learning for college classes.
To all reading this: 99% of cyber field is selling instructions about cybersecurity. There are no jobs. You’re not going to take a few certs and get $90k starting. Nobody is hiring, even though they say they are. If you get a help desk position without 5 years min experience, consider yourself extremely lucky
The real question is how much does this cost? Cause not everyone here has da money to afford this, I think it's safe to assume we are all broke college students.

I’m an IT Security Analyst. I’ll happily give tips at no cost. Just happy to help usher more people into this field.
I'm interested in any info you have to offer. Thanks!

What do you think about CISSP certification?
How much work experience do you have in cyber-security?
I understand the idea of the video but why not spend the money on Udemy or CBT Nuggets courses etc?

Will it be useful to me to complete data science in Bachelor's degree and cyber security in Master's degree to become cyber security professional.

Just don't send them at all (Read about Diffie Hellman), or encrypt the transport (Read about TLS and SSH).
