My heart opens to the sweet melodies of this poem made into music...dreaming awaken is really the best of ourselves...thanks for giving us the correct transportation toward meeting again with our almost forgotten best thougths...there, deep in our souls....
Bonney ALWAYS delivers: taste, technique, subtlety, flawless tone, and amazing vulnerability. She ventures into the world of Elizabethan lute songs and gives a totally convincing rendition, free from anomalies of the other periods of music that she sings so admirably. That she is a household name in the world of classical music is beyond me.
She definitely has paranasal resonance. If she didn't, her voice wouldn't carry in opera halls without electronic amplification. What you are hearing is what in the Italian school of singing is called "Chiaro-Scuro", literally "Bright-Dark", referring to a perfect balance of forward nasal resonance balanced out by a warm, rich fullness created by raising the soft palate and creating enough space in the back of the throat... It's all about balance. :)
I agree with you 100% :) The CDS that I would recommend are: The Radiant Voice of Barbara Bonney Barbara Bonney - Mozart Lieder Exultate, Jubilate Barbara Bonney sings Mozart Franz Schubert: Lieder Erste Begegnung (First Encounter) Who am I kidding? Ms Bonney has made over 100 recordings they are all great...all are gems....take your pick and enjoy :)
@bsedful I don't think that you have heard any heavenly angels lately but in hearing Ms Bonney's beautiful voice you have heard an earthly angel's voice. Thank you God.
Ahhhhh. :) I can only smile happily. Just a note: the final line of the last stanza begins with "Did" rather than "Do"; I only noticed because her diction is so precise (and delicate)(and perfect)(did I mention that I think she's perfect?)(She is perfect.. :D)
@wolfwolfenstein The photos are from: Mozart - La Clemenza di Tito / Dorothea Roschmann, Michael Schade, Barbara Bonney, Elina Garanca, Vesselina Kasarova, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Salzburg Opera (2003)
@agcity1 BB's version is stellar. I have BB singing Bach's Heute Noch on my channel, I dedicated to my mother, she really loved her coffee :D Thank you for commenting, please feel free to check out all of BB videos on this channel.
What a gifted soprano! She can express every word the composer had in mind.
This woman's voice is perfection!
