Thanks for sharing your love for food and Toronto!! 🇨🇦 I can’t wait to try some of these spots over the holidays and Catus club too ;) Happy Holidays!!!
For sure. Especially for a cha siu bun you would get in asia but in Toronto I feel like it's not much more expensive and then if you add on the quality of it then I think $6 is def worth it. Still maybe not cheap though
@@gabriel6s I don't know what kind of quality you are talking about and I never bought cha siu bun in Asia so I can't really related to your comment over there but if you are talking about Toronto, for sure you know cobs bread and that bakery sells quality bread and let's say small cape seed loaf is $6.5 I believe (maybe little less) Whatever the quality we are talking about, that bun should be not more than $4.5.
@MK-ek7vd Yeah I mean if you compare it like that then it definitely shouldn't cost that much especially since the one's down Spadina are probably like $3 max? Using quality as a word wasn't the best choice on my part. What I meant was that the place he showed makes the bread in house and by hand so the cost of labour for that compared to somewhere that has industrial machines would be higher, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the quality would be higher. Also compared to a loaf of bread, the pork for the cha siu would be another additional cost, driving up the prices
I love James! You show so many great spots and you make cooking Korean food so enjoyable and easy for someone who has never tried it! Keep coming with the great content brother!
Luv your video and like your cross culture video in between Korea and Canada .. share with us more on this type of video .. so we can use it when next travel to US ^^ ... luv you😘😘😘
The red bean at Kevin’s is my favourite but my family also loves the custard one. I buy them at Hmart in Richmond hill 😋I always buy a box for home and a box for work. You can even freeze them and warm them up in the oven soooo goood 🥰. I definitely need to try the pizza and the burger place and everything else in your video 😂
Thanks James for the recommendations. Gotta try out “Bà Nội” one for sure as I’m viet but I’ve never heard of this place. Btw, ur viet pronunciation is pretty good lol ~
Where is korea town, what station is it near? I lived in toronto from 12-20 but rarely left etobicoke where i lived, sometimes i visit my grandmother in Scarborough though, the ttc fare there and back is more then that redbean treat
Thanks for the tour James! Curious if that pizza joint has always been there. I used to go to a place by Uof T many years ago and it reminded me of it. When I was in TO back in May I couldn't find it and wondered if it had moved but I did hit that Korean grocery store for goodies to bring back to my hotel!
Yes! I think you're talking about Bitondo's which is a classssic (hopefully i'm right!). If not, maybe Frescas? Love that you appreciate this content and will try to make more! Thank you tons for the support :)
@@jamesbok here is what I remember. I was taking night classes at U of T. I had to walk through a field (I think baseball/soccer) field going south from Bloor just the other side of the stadium. It was non-descript - you walked up to the counter got your pizza and sat down to eat. They had been there forever and the slices were huge and great. I gave up trying to find it after an hour - I suspect the field is long gone. I left Toronto 25+ years ago. Even though I traveled back and forth it was usually to visit family so I never got to do more than Chinatown, Kensington Market, harbourfront... Walked 12,000+ steps daily for the 5 days I was there and scoured the city. So much has changed, yet so much is the same. I love Van but Toronto is special. Korea town didn't exist back then and I was pleasantly surprised by so many Korean restaurants, etc. We still don't have a lot of them out our way.
Badiali's opened in more recent years and is not near UofT. You may be thinking of Cora Pizza and Papa Ceo's on the west side of Spadina just north of Harbord. They've been there a long time. The original Italian owners are retired but I think they're both still there with different owners. They were big slices but there are better pizzas elsewhere. Good enough to fill a hungry student though.
@@pauly5418 Harbord and Papa Ceo's sounds familiar. All I remember though is there was a field in front of it between Bloor and the street where they were. I suspect that is long gone and that is why I couldn't find it.
@@betinawheeler686 There is a Metro grocery store on Bloor, west of Spadina, which used to be a Dominion. An aerial view shows that there is a field to the south of this. This might be the field you're describing.
James I'm a big fan of your content, please do more of this cheap eats or maybe do $40 or $50 dollars a day like Rachel Ray did.. I would love to see the Toronto version if possible lol..
