Chains are very rigid and jerk alot if you dont have constant pressure on them. Straps are great, but you cant adjust the length of a strap as easily as a chain. A tire in the mix solves the ridity problem and you can jerk as hard as you want and they just streeetch out. I was hoping to demonstrate that a little more in this video but the Jeep just pulled right outta there.
you are one cool cat not just anyone will risk their rig to go on a rescue let alone someone you have never met ,i myself get that same call more times than i can remember but i do know not one has ever gone the same, that tire trick works great been using it for years and the truck gets the work done for sure
Hey what's the muffler set up on that 360/390/400 (not too sure what ya got?). I got the same vintage I been thinking about doing something similar to. Or are they straight pipes. Really sounds like a 390 ....love it!
Chains have no give in them, if you're jerking alot with chains it puts alot of stress on the recovery points and chains themselves, increasing the risk of damage to the vehicles and the risk of the chains breaking and flying into the vehicles and anything else in the way. The tire acts to cushion the impact from being jerked forwards then going slack then jerked forwards again.

Very nice what an outstanding video.
Just one question, do you remember what kind of tires are on that Ford?
Thanks, they are Super Swamper Boggers. These are 18" Wide, 39.5" Tall on a 16.5 Rim
Thanks! Its a 390
jeep would never win in tug of war
ok on the fun but pushing over trees is a bit too much
its good to see the ol girl out again
haha that subaru was the funniest damn thing! I have been up to alaska and theres more than enough trees to run over.
I'd love to come wheelin with you guys, needless to say my subaru wont get stuck so easily...check my channel.
Why did you load it on a trailer? Is it not street legal?
nice job when i get stuck im callin you dude lol but i will probably be in jims creek though
Another great vid. FE power! How long do you think before a tree hugging hippy makes negative comment about you running over another tree?
Damn makes me wish I had the parts now to fix my damn highboy so I can drive it instead of a girly pontiac sunfire
I'm gonna steal that tire idea for a little bounce in the chains, that's awesome
The beast is back and dam seems like almost nothing will stop her

Why did you join the two chains with an old tyre like that?

Ah I see! I wondered if it my increase the stress... but I see now. I'll remember that for future reference.
What size tires are on your truck?
From a wrangler owner, that is one sick friggen truck ya got there bud!
Too bad. You should get a ford or chevy
Too bad? All a matter of perspective I guess lol, I'm thinking of getting a Chev 2500HD for a toy hauler next year.
