  • Enjoy one of BART's most relaxing rides on this 10-car Dublin/Pleasanton train, as it departs Bay Fair Station in San Leandro for the suburban Tri-Valley region during the tail end of the morning commute in the San Francisco Bay Area.
    Dublin/Pleasanton Station, where this train terminates, geographically is the easternmost station in the BART system and the closest to Interstate 5, the most popular highway choice for those traveling south toward Los Angeles and Southern California. Bay Fair, on the other hand, is the final transfer point for those wishing to switch between the Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont trains. Upon reaching Dublin/Pleasanton, all trains depart for the storage tracks up ahead, and then reenter the station on Platform 2 as San Francisco/Daly City trains.
    This stretch of the BART system -- filmed for the first time ever going in the Dublin/Pleasanton direction -- is usually about 18-20 minutes each way, and now features the agency's newest station, West Dublin/Pleasanton, which has been open since February 19, 2011. West Dublin/Pleasanton makes it easier for people to shop at nearby Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton. This section is also a crucial transportation link in terms of alleviating traffic on 580, especially for those commuting from Tracy and other places in San Joaquin County.
    Some visual appeal features on this ride include riding alongside hundreds of cars along Interstates 238 and 580, zipping through Castro Valley, and crossing over the Dublin grade into Dublin and Pleasanton.

    It looks like this was probably taken around 9 or 10am (maybe after the early morning commute that they deploy one or two 10 cars from the Daly City yard). On the other hand, I think you had the train operator Sharon. I know her, because I had run into her many times at the Daly City terminus. She's one of the nicest TOs out there, very helpful, and really sweet and shows lots of endearment towards individuals. She's a very open person about everything. She says "Good morning, DP train"

    @ehstronghold Yeah, no kidding. The first and last cars on this train (388 and 1270) were dead giveaways it normally runs on the Pittsburg/Bay Point-SFO line.

    Seems quite unique as it runs through those isolated hills.

    How long was it between Castro Valley and Dublin before West Dublin opened?

    • @bartfansma
      @bartfansma  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @QuarioQuario54321 - If I'm understanding your question correctly...the distance between Castro Valley Station and the (East) Dublin/Pleasanton terminus was 10 miles by car, and about 13 minutes by BART. Since West Dublin/Pleasanton opened in February 2011, only the travel time by train has increased by about 1-2 minutes.

      bartfansma 13 minutes between stations. That would suck if you missed your stop. And the current 10 minute gap isn’t much better

      @QuarioQuario54321 - I agree with you, although I don't look at the approximate 10-minute gap between Castro Valley and West Dublin/Pleasanton as all bad (for scenic reasons). But yes, should someone miss getting off in Castro Valley for whatever reason, like oversleeping, that would be unfortunate.

    If a train goes to San Francisco I think it's a 10-car train I think it's either a 9 car or 10 car train I'm not sure when you go to San Francisco but when I take BART to San Francisco I always sit in the first car train that way I'm near the train operator just in case something happens I can let them know I like your videos I mean this in a respectful way

    @bartfansma They are used from the Colma yard on many certain rotations. That's what I've seen. Dublin rarely has A cars, almost never. I've never been on one from Dublin on days you don't get direct service to SF from Hayward.
