Stumbled across your video and hopefully can help with some of the questions being a Tulsa native. Pros: 1. Tulsa is very pretty, especially Tulsa proper. It's very hilly and tons of mature trees with parks every few miles. The outskirts/suburbs are more open spaces and you'll see plenty of cows/horses. 2. 4 seasons- while the weather can be crazy, we do get to experience all seasons. 3. The people, for the most part are pretty friendly. 4. There are about 1 million people in the Tulsa area now and the traffic tends to move decently, even during rush hour. 5. Broken Arrow, a suburb, has been named one of the best places to live recently. Cons: 1. Tulsa is number one or number two on the list for worst places to live if you have allergies. Between the grass, tree pollen, mold, flowers, and wind, allergy sufferers need to be constantly medicated. 2. While we do experience all 4 seasons, they are not constant and fluctuate rapidly. you can have 70/80- degree weather and the next day it's snowing. Tulsa can have very cold winters with a few instances of large snow fall or it can be a warm winter in the 60s. The summer heat can be bad especially with the humidity. Common to have temperatures of 100+ during July and part of August. while we do have the occasional earthquake (usually 2.0-4.0) the weather is different here. We have large thunderstorms throughout the year along with a lot of lightning. They are calming if you don't have to get out and drive in them. 3. Tulsa is in Tornado alley. While I live in and grew up in midtown now, Tornado sirens and taking cover is common during storm season. While there have been very large and dangerous tornadoes in OKC and throughout Oklahoma, Tulsa seems to be shielded from too much damage and injuries. While there is the occasional spin up in Tulsa major, the majority of the storms will hit on the outskirts, typically to the north in Owasso/Collinsville, Southwest including Sapaulpa/Jenks/Gennpool/Liberty/Mounds, and then to the Southeast in Coweta, and every now in then on the outskirts of Broken Arrow. Most of the time, taking cover in the hall or bathroom works. It outter lying areas and OKC where they have F4s and F5s I'd highly recommend a place with a tonrado shelter or below ground shelter. Weird fact, most homes in Oklahoma don't have basements-always heard its because of the type of soil. 4. The streets are always under construction. This seems to be common in a lot of cities so kinda normal. However, Tulsa likes to have multiple large scale street construction projects going on at the same time creating problems with traffic. The Broken Arrow expressway is busy and HWY 169 during rush hour is nascar mixed with road rage. People here do not know how to drive, they will constantly happily drive the speed limit in the left hand lane forcing traffic to go around them. This is against the law now. 5. Tulsa is mainly a manufacturing town with many manufacturing companies. This makes job hunting sometimes difficult if not working in manufacturing or the medical field. OKC has much more white collar jobs. 6. Tulsa is safe but you have to keep your eye out. The crime here is sporadic; you can have very nice neighborhoods a mile away from high crime areas ie: 61st and peoria. while there is crime in different neighborhoods all around Tulsa, there are common shootings and crime throughout north Tulsa. There is gang activity and west Tulsa/Sand springs until recently was number in the nation for meth use and making it (still high though). On the FBI crime statistics, Tulsa is number 20 in the nation for its homicide rate. The safer communities tend to be the suburbs. Kinda long but hopefully this helps out anyone asking. And hopefully the Cons don't outweigh your pros for living here. Tulsa has a decent night life, though as described not like larger cities. Dowtown has been building many new restaurants and bars over the last 5-10 years. Brookside, Utica Square, Cherry Street all have small neighborhood centers with shopping and places to eat/drink-unsually higher in cost. The city is growing and has been building thousands of new homes in the suburbs to try and keep up with the growth.
Yeah I definitely agree with this. I’ve always had terrible allergies, but I never thought it might have to do with the fact that I live in Tulsa. Huh.
I moved from los Angeles, California in 2012 to Tulsa, Oklahoma and let me tell you been here ever since then i love it here we moved to sand springs that's still tulsa county i love raising my kid's here beautiful, and quiet.
I’ve lived here all my life, been many places, and there is no place like Oklahoma, like Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thank you for your take on it. We’re glad to have you. As for tornadoes, yes, people who aren’t from here think that those are here all the time. I have never seen one. They are not even a serious threat very often in this area, definitely not as much and as often as outsiders think. I wouldn’t let that stop me from living here.
New subbie!! I am headed your way this Fall/Winter and cannot wait!! Your videos are giving me so much encouragement. I am moving solo by way of the Tulsa Remote work program.😊
Thank you Christie for this informative video. I'm 46 and lived in Illinois all my life. My father recently passed away and my mother died 10 years ago. I love the Tulsa area and the people there and I believe it is time for me to move there. It is so beautiful and checking job openings there was a bunch. Thinking the suburb of Jenks being from a small town it just seems more my cup of tea. Thanks again for the video and God bless.
I’m moving to Tulsa next month from New York alone for Transformation church. I am so nervous but I believe God is bringing me there for a reason. I’m looking to meet and connect with good people.
I appreciate this so much. I have been invited to join Tulsa remote and am currently looking for housing but we are coming in July! I am excited to join this "slower" community coming from Scottsdale (Phoenix) Arizona!
Tampa Girl here! Movin to OK & lookin forward to chill vibes fo'sho❤️🔥😌 I wonder wth the state is doin wit them taxes if not fixing holes.😆😄 I'll take it tho, get me tf outta FL. 😂😌
Everything you said is so spot on about Tulsa! I came from a bigger "always awake" city too, you nailed it with explaining Tulsa's slower pace in that regard.
I appreciate your video! When I get my degree, I would like to move to Tulsa bc of Transformation Church. Right now, I am Transformation Nation. Lol! I’m being prayerful. Keep me lifted!! 🙌🏾♥️👑
Patrice James Yes social worker! BSW or MSW?? I have an MSW, if you ever have question or anything let me know. You can follow me in IG and I can give you my contact info if you want. IG: Chris_emani
Hey! You stated that you are from Florida and I currently live in Florida as well and have been considering moving to Oklahoma, this video helped so much thank you!
How is public transportation? I’m visually impaired and can’t drive, so whenever I look into moving to another area, accessibility is major determining factor.
Hi! I don't think it's as great as it should be. We have buses but they do not go into every nook and cranny. We don't have a tri rail system or anything like that. Your best bet would be to access resources through community agencies for transportation.
Been a Tulsan all my live. Born and raised. You are right, we don't have the best of roads(horrible) but they are fixing them little by little. Welcome to T-town!!!
Sounds like you live in the Bible Belt-- whick is great --. I live in Denver- we just have craziness here and a tremendous amount of traffic-- you have a nice small city,
THank you so much! I ran across this video while looking up information. I recently got accepted into teh Tulsa remote program and was planning to move in November.
Born and raised in Tulsa but left Oklahoma! The reality is that if you're able to find an "in-demand" job that pays well (engineering, nursing, doctor, IT, trades, etc.), then you're set. If not, job hunting will be a VERY frustrating process! Racism in hiring people people of color is quite evident whether people want to admit it or not. Teachers are poorly paid, so they leave in droves. Taxes seem to used for something other than fixing the regular and toll roads. However, I wish you and your family success!
I`m thinking of moving there to go to a church i just found its Metro Pentecostal .. I streamed one of there services and fell in love with the pastor he is so down to earth ..and he don`t spit when he preaches ...ha ha ...
OMG I landed on your video doing research on Tulsa, OK because I want to move there for the same reason you went out there. I want to be part of Transformation Church. I would like to talk...I'm from Long Beach, CA born and raised and this would be a big step for me moving somewhere else. I hope we can chat. Thanks for the video. Good job.
Just ran across your video & it just happens that just at the end of your video you mention Transformation Church. Which made me look up info on Tulsa. My Wife and I will attending the Transformation conference in October. Can you please recommend hotels near the church area?
You got a ticket! That's awesome!! And I don't have any suggestions at this time. But, go ahead and Google the area and book them now...if you haven't already!!
greetings what denomination are you? just wondering we are in Fort Smith Arkansas and it is not great however I feel safe here ...so will move when God opens a door.....may God bless you and yours be safe....
Hi Chris! New sub here! I also have a TH-cam channel and I have lived in Tulsa my whole life and everything you said is SPOT ON! Thank you so much for this video and you have an amazing sweet soul! BTW I just visited Transformation Church for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it! I'm going to get on watching....preach about the tornadoes girl!!!
Craftyone I would say Mid-Tulsa, South Tulsa, Bixby, Broken Arrow. It would be best for you to use apartments.com and put in your budget. The website will be able to give you crime history facts of the apartment your interested in.
Hi ! Me and my family are thinking of moving to Tulsa OK, I have 2 small children and want to be in a quiet family like place. What areas are best ? And will be good to raise children.
Check out the gathering place, great hangout for kids as well as grown ups. Hands down the BEST park in the entire US of A... I have been to NY, VA, PA, WA and grew up in LA... Tulsa surprisingly impressed me!
North side has some really beautiful new homes going up and they pretty cheaper than on the other sides of town, but the North side has had a rough reputation in the past, but all of that is changing.
Malcilra Eure That is so funny because it is on there a lot. Lol but you have to pay attention to the dates of those crimes. Honestly, anywhere you go, there will be good and bad; each state has it. While I can’t speak to the complete safety of Tulsa, I have and currently feel safe. I’ve been here for almost 2 years.
I haven't been to Tulsa, but the thing with crime shows, they only follow certain police departments in certain cities so I think it just seems like they're on there a lot because that's just who the show is following.
Also I forgot to say she is coming there this weekend because she has to relocate within the month. She is looking to find a safe apartment. Any suggestions?
Chris Emani the chances of it actually being you were small lol! I randomly came across your channel and I feel the woman I spoke to outside the cafe and you have some resemblance! I just figured I’d throw this out there in case it were one of those “small world” situations hahaha! Have a great weekend!
Considering a move to Tulsa and came across this. Lower cost of living, green, and the fact that the coast elites don’t like places like it, make it sound like a great place to live
Look Like Famous-Cleveland is a small town West of Tulsa out by Keystone Lake... I live in town & you would have to check it out if you thought about moving there? 🤓
Christie I’m praying Nd trying tlk my husband into moving to Tulsa, we want to raise our boys Nd own a home Nd a family environment for us Nd miami is not it anymore I think we may plan a trip I’d love to link up my fellow Floridan!
My girlfriend is moving to Tulsa and loves her some Jesus, do you have any suggestions on what church she could visit or join? Right now she’s been a member of Good News United Church in Rogers Park in Chicago it is a UCC Congregation?
I am sincerely thinking about moving to Tulsa with my family and buying a home. I really don’t want to be in the city but I would rather be in a small town nearby. Do you have any recommendations of small towns that are within commuting distance of Tulsa?
@@dobby4065 I don’t know any apartments in that area but it is a nice place to live. I say for you to Google the zip code of the hospital and then search apartments.com for apartments with the same zip code.
@@christietnebedum Cool! Well... I'm originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil... There isn't much to do here. Hehe! But I like it that there is a beautiful park right across from my house. I go walking everyday. 😊
Hello Christie, firstly you are an absolute breath of fresh air :-) I am from South Africa and considering moving to Tulsa so that I can continue my studies at Oral Roberts University, as a resident student. I have started putting feelers out for work opportunities in your city. If you have any insights on work opportunities in Tulsa, please share. Thank you for this!
To answer your question... I can work in the NPO space, wellness related environment including launching Joy for kids over there and the classes I do here. Human resources/talent management. I have local government and development experience.
AmbitiousLifespan.Exposa Hi! I have been safe during my 2 years here. I cannot speak to the general safety of anything place because there are always safe and unsafe things happening daily.
I hear a lot about the history of Tulsa including Black Wall Street and race riots. Had you experienced any uncomfortable situations dealing with race while living there?
Do you like Philly Cheese Steaks? If so, i suggest you try FatPhilly's. Its in Tulsa, and it caters to the "drunk" crowd, so is open pretty late!!. I love their food, soooo good. *Also, your last con made me giggle a little bit. Us Okie's are just like, "'Nother Nader, huh?" As we stare at it making its way 😂😂 honestly ive thought of moving to Florida, but the hurricanes and stuff like that terrify me, so i get where you are coming from, haha.
Chris Emani there are a few lake beaches (nothing like Florida, but okay nonetheless). Skiatook Lake, and Lake Eufaula (about 2 1/2 hours away) have beaches. Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees also has some decent beaches. Again, not Florida, but they exist. 😁
Yes, we do have beaches on the many fresh water lakes... Texas is the closest coastal area & that is accessible by airplane as the fastest transportation but cars take 10-12hrs driving😎

How do you feel about the tornadoes? That’s my biggest concern but I’m willing to try Tulsa out!
“The roads are trash.” Girl I felt that 😂

And everything wrong with posit is that they care more about the wealthy neighborhoods then they do the poorer neighborhoods. That's a shame

Oh nice! When will you know if you're approved?
Hey I am thinking to apply too! Palese let us know if u are approved!
Yes, let us know. I'm am considering that program equally $$$$$
That's what just brought me here lol
I feel like I saw you at the bakery last week on 101st and Sheridan
Nope. Haven't been to a bakery in a long time. lol But I do have a familiar face!
Chris Emani the chances of it actually being you were small lol! I randomly came across your channel and I feel the woman I spoke to outside the cafe and you have some resemblance! I just figured I’d throw this out there in case it were one of those “small world” situations hahaha! Have a great weekend!
Judge Dredd I totally understand! Lol same to you! Haha
Considering a move to Tulsa and came across this. Lower cost of living, green, and the fact that the coast elites don’t like places like it, make it sound like a great place to live
lol I feel you! And yes, you're right!
Looking to move to Tulsa in July 🙂
Congrats!!

Look Like Famous I have never been.
Look Like Famous-Cleveland is a small town West of Tulsa out by Keystone Lake... I live in town & you would have to check it out if you thought about moving there? 🤓

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Hi! Thanks for the video! I'm considering participating in the Tulsa Remote program. Where can I go for cheap rents?
That's a good program. And Tulsa Remote will definitely guide you on the areas to live. Until then, I recommend apartments.com for your search.
Christie I’m praying Nd trying tlk my husband into moving to Tulsa, we want to raise our boys Nd own a home Nd a family environment for us Nd miami is not it anymore I think we may plan a trip I’d love to link up my fellow Floridan!

No problem
Completely right, there is no shortage of religion in Oklahoma, there is even a Buddhist temple in north Broken Arrow
Wow! If you need Him, He's here lol :)
I'm planning on moving there is the crime an issue for you?
Which area do you live in Tulsa because you said it's a safe neighborhood and also what is the drive time to downtown from your neighborhood
At the time of this video, I lived in mid-tulsa and it was about 20 mins from downtown!
I’m surprised how many people to move to Tulsa
Me too!
My girlfriend is moving to Tulsa and loves her some Jesus, do you have any suggestions on what church she could visit or join? Right now she’s been a member of Good News United Church in Rogers Park in Chicago it is a UCC Congregation?
Transformation Church and Victory Church are a couple she should start with.
I'm considering moving here in a year or two from California, I hear yall still have state taxes, but is it much lower im assuming ? lol
Oh nice! I have never compared Tulsa and Cali's state taxes, but yes, I think it's safe to assume that it's much cheaper here lol
You are so cute. We're thinking of moving to Tulsa
Thank you and you're welcome!!
I'm moving in a month,I'm from Argentina, are latinos accepted well?
While the latino population is small, I do believe so!
I’m latino and the majority of the Hispanic population is on the East Side and from my experience there are a lot of Hispanics here actually
I have been living in Tulsa for 4 years it will be 5 years come Thanksgiving
Does anyone know the name of the song at the opening of the video?
Evergreen by Yebba
I am sincerely thinking about moving to Tulsa with my family and buying a home. I really don’t want to be in the city but I would rather be in a small town nearby. Do you have any recommendations of small towns that are within commuting distance of Tulsa?
Sure! Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks are nice!
HI have roads improved? thinking about okc..i ride motorcycles
They are improving! Don’t quote but I think OKC’a roads might be better than Tulsa.
@@christietnebedum you still live there I assume how's the crime
Actually I have been monitoring the news in okc its interesting. I'm in healthcare and d
Texas is also in the cards
Tornadoes though...damn
Oregon has State tax as well but, Tulsa is a better place to leave my honest opinion. Really laid back and cool people as well.
Hi, I am looking a best place to live near the St. Francis Hospital, will you recommend something? Thanks..
Hi, did you find something?
@@christietnebedum not as yet,, do you have something to recommend?
@@dobby4065 I don’t know any apartments in that area but it is a nice place to live. I say for you to Google the zip code of the hospital and then search apartments.com for apartments with the same zip code.
Hey girl! Where in Tulsa do you live? I live in Broken Arrow and I go to Occupied Church!
I like in mid-town. How do you like it here?
@@christietnebedum Cool! Well... I'm originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil... There isn't much to do here. Hehe! But I like it that there is a beautiful park right across from my house. I go walking everyday. 😊
Great Video... Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! :)
I’m a little confused about the tax thing I move to Tula in 4 months...
Here is a good resource to learn more: smartasset.com/taxes/oklahoma-tax-calculator
Looking to move over there sis ... are you still living there ?
Yes I am! Love it here!
Thank you for doing this video, it was very helpful! And you made me want to laugh a few times girl lol
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching!!
What's the best side of Tulsa to move to?
I like to recommend Midtown, East and South Tulsa. Other areas like Brookside, Broken Arrow and Bixby are nice as well!
@@christietnebedum ok thanks I look forward to moving down there soon.
Sounds great!!
bern and rise in Tulsa, North Tulsa that's war I glow up
Hello Christie, firstly you are an absolute breath of fresh air :-) I am from South Africa and considering moving to Tulsa so that I can continue my studies at Oral Roberts University, as a resident student. I have started putting feelers out for work opportunities in your city. If you have any insights on work opportunities in Tulsa, please share. Thank you for this!
Hi’! Thanks for your kind words and for watching! What kind of work are you looking for?
To answer your question... I can work in the NPO space, wellness related environment including launching Joy for kids over there and the classes I do here. Human resources/talent management. I have local government and development experience.
Hi, considering moving to Tulsa, from Los Angeles. Want to meet and greet. Will reach out to you on Instagram.
I myself am considering moving to Tulsa for transformation !!!
Yay!! Please keep me posted on what you decide!
Is it safe to live in Tulsa ?
Yes.
AmbitiousLifespan.Exposa Hi! I have been safe during my 2 years here. I cannot speak to the general safety of anything place because there are always safe and unsafe things happening daily.
Found this on my one year of living in Oklahoma (about 15-20 minutes away from Tulsa)
How house living here been for you?
@@christietnebedum I love it here! I always tell people vt is where from but my heart belongs in Oklahoma
Kassidy Carom love that!
I'm from New Jersey currently living in Alabama thinking about moving to Oklahoma is it worth it
It's worth it to me. I'd encourage you to come and visit to get a feel for the city!
@@christietnebedum I'm definitely going to do that just had my r.v serviced
I hear a lot about the history of Tulsa including Black Wall Street and race riots. Had you experienced any uncomfortable situations dealing with race while living there?
Not in my entire two years! I can't speak for others though, unfortunately.
I've tried Fat Philly's and it's really good! lol And it's so crazy how where you're from dictates our comfort levels with natural disasters. lol
Thanks for the video! I'm looking to visit OK :) are there any beaches there?
Melissa Silfa thanks for watching! And no beaches, we are inland; no coastal area.
Melissa Silfa not an Oklahoma native. I’m pretty sure there’s no beaches because you are visiting the south central part of the country
You should try Keystone ramp its a nice little beach to hang out in or go kayaking in
I love your energy ❤️
Thank you so much!!
