Hatate came on when all the sting had gone out of the game and Dortmund had relaxed their press. He had an opportunity to score a couple of times but duffed his shots. He doesn't get a pass from me either.

Utterly & completely angry w/ that farce of a performance. Couldnae string more than two passes together. Well that game certainly exposed the difference between being a top team in a mediocre league and an excellent team in a top league, Dortmund capitalised on every opportunity spectacularly, the game was a clinic for what the Celtic players should aspire to be.
Unfortunately some rookie mistakes cost us. The penalty from Engels high kick in our box and Trysty not staying goal side of his marker. And Maeda cost us two goals tonight.
Calmac Engels Kuhn Bernardo and Taylor were SHOCKING. Only Scales gets pass marks.
And Maeda. Mcgregor and Taylor couldn't pass the ball 2 yards
I dunno how Scales gets a pass in a 7-1 🤨. For me only Maeda was okay and was winning his position for a lot of the first half... I know he'll be blamed for 2 goals, but really only one was his fault and the game was already far gone at that point anyway..
I am a dortmund fan but i love celtic as well. Wish you all the best for the tournament. One game means nothing. You have to focus on the defense against bigger clubs. It was a mistake to play the same way as in the league.

Men against boys. Look at the line up before the match. Dortmund were full of big, tall, physical players, Celtic were noticeably smaller. McGregor just can’t cut it at this level, as he does with Scotland he’s miles off the pace and games just pass him by. If it wasn’t for Schmeichel it would have been double figures.
It doesn't have anything to do with size. The Spanish national side were tiny when they dominated international football. Look at the best player of his era Messi and Maradona before him.

We didn't bring in another CB until the last day of the transfer window. He's only played a couple of games and already thrown into the CL cauldron as CCV misses yet another CL fixture. Poor preparation once again...and we still haven't upgraded at LB. Valle might be okay in the long run but again, he's only played a few minutes for us because he's another signing near the end of the window.

We can talk about defensive woes all day but the truth is that at this level you can’t get by with a scales and trusty at the back. Let’s be realistic, we can’t expect them to play like VVD and Ruben Dias, or Greg Taylor like Marcelo. We can’t even blame Brendan. There’s loads of young defenders and midfielders with immense potential that can be bought on the cheap all over the world and until the board takes action these results at this level will happen. The goal difference isn’t ideal but it’s just one game and there’s 6 to go. Keep the faith

We played that short pass into central midfield far too often, id say we lost possession from it around 10-15 times and it cost us badly, we need to learn at this level row Z isn't a bad option now and again.

Would love to see a wee bit of humility in accepting we’re the wee guys and starting more solid at the back and in the middle, trying to counter when/if we can. Watching us get ripped open and turned inside out was sad times.
It was poor. It seems that Bernardo, Kuhn, Engels, Taylor and Trusty got spooked with the way Dortmund came at them and they didn't seem to be able to get themselves back onto an even keel. Sometimes that happens. Engels seemed like a rabbit in the headlights - he just did not settle and seemed devoid of confidence and couldn't reset himself. I think that's his lack of experience - he doesn't know how to bring himself back within the game. He's young and will learn a lot from that. Similar Bernardo - he was getting roughed up and it knocked him out of his rhythm. The pressure from Dortmund players was a lesson - I though they were going to punch themselves out but they just kept the hammer down. Hatate started to control the ball in midfield a lot better and was bringing players into the game but it was breaking down with the bad passing. CCV was a clear loss - Trusty gave the Dortmund players time on the ball that CCV wouldn't have done. TBF Dortmund look like they could give any team a spanking like that! The players let themselves down more than anything because they're better than that - they know they are - and they'll need to get back and put it behind them as a bad day at the office. It happens - forget about it and move forward.
I think there was a real naivety tonight. We needed to respect the level of challenge we were facing and sit in a bit. That requires a bit of humility to accept, we’re just not on that same level as some of these big teams away from home. Easy to say in hindsight of course. I don’t blame BR for trying to press with this team. But this was a reality check. Neil Lennon showed how it was done against THE Barca team more than ten years ago. If we’d gone even for a balanced press against those players, it would’ve been a similar score line to tonight’s game. 7-1 is not an acceptable score under any circumstance. Tough game. But there are plenty of chances to redeem ourselves. Hopefully this lights a fire

the problem was more the style they play and the style we play... not the calibre of players. In football you can always close the score gap with the right tactics.

Should have been very defensive style of play 4 this game. If we're trying to out pass them & play them at their game it wont work. They have much better quality. The setup should have been trying to frustrate them & counterattack

His mind set always saying better quality players won every game we get pumped off better teams is wrong, he needs to think of it more of there is mistake in every goal and that’s because they still are asked to move the ball quickly which in these games causes us to lose the ball, second half was better but still not good enough, at least 5 goals of there’s were assistedby a Celtic player
