I'm mad they didn't go through with the cursed child movie though.
Close 2nd to Iron Maiden community 😎
@@cookiestastegood123why is that? I just kept hearing rumor after rumor
@ErikaWolf93 they said emma watson didn't want to do it and she talked the other main characters out of it.
@@cookiestastegood123she’s woke trash
I want Dobby’s full arc in the show. He was so much more important than the movies showed. I hope all the house elves get extra love and attention.
And Winky's
Hopefully the writers will SPEW some more information.
@@DogbiteW :)
@@DogbiteW I see what you did there. :)
@@DogbiteW😂
i'm just hoping that the actors are really good, the visuals and VFX are nice and don't look cheaply made, and we actually get all the content from the books we missed in the movies. more than anything i just want it to be a faithful adaptation 😭
This! I just hope they truly stay faithful to the books, not necessarily word by word but more like personality of the characters, and I hope they don’t waste time creating new info and put as much as they can from the books
From the the company which give the world Band of Brothers i would say we are in safe hands
I have high hopes for the new kids, but I do NOT think any actors will come close to the late Alan Rickman as Snape and the late Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid.
@@DogbiteW Agree
JKR will have a hand in the casting process. I am optimistic.
All i can hope for is that they dont use too much green screen and cgi. The OG films are timeless cause it will always look good due to the use of props and stuff
ngl even if they use green screen or cgi, you probably wouldn't realize a lot of them are not real. take the last of us series as an example, film making is a lot more advance now and i can't wait what they'll do with this one
@@zehknow of course i just meant i hope its not gonna be like full cgi and green screen all the time
Seeing what Max has done with House of the Dragon, building complete parts of entire castles as working sets, I wouldn’t be too worried. Especially with Harry Potter being the best selling book franchise in history
The special effects budgets will be significantly smaller, but there have been some advances in SFX technology.
@@redza1603 tbh, a lot of the House of the Dragon sets look noticeably worse compared to GoT sets, because in GoT they travelled to most real locations instead of opting to use CGI
what made harry potter movies so special is how they really stuck with the same casts / actors throughout all the 8 movies. the casts grew up together, from kids to adults. that's where we truly see their bond and connection, being together and filming for over 10 years. i have personally never seen any other movie doing the same thing. i hope the series will be the same with consistent cast and not changing the actors midway. that's what made harry potter movies so special to me.
Then your going to hate this Rakie Ayola is your new Hermione.
@@helluvatime4562 I think you are WAY off. Rakie Ayola is 56 years old. She will not be appearing in the TV series.
@@DogbiteW Google it. I couldn`t believe it either.
@@helluvatime4562 Bronte Carmichael might be the one playing Hermione and Toby Woolf as Harry.
@@spooky.giggles I wish you were right.
I want Peeves...... please. Hagrid and Snape are big shoes to fill..... I cannot wait
Hagrid and Snape are MASSIVE shoes to fill. It genuinely makes me nervous as the two original actors will always be loved and cherished. May they rest peacefully. Such legends!!
@@shawnbyers6947 I stand corrected .. They are Massive shoes.
You don't have to stand corrected. The expression is 'big shoes to fill' and you got it right the first time.
@tygerstripes3752 FYI, I wasn't correcting the person to begin with. I'm simply emphasising the MASSIVE shoes those actors will need to fill as both actors were legendary in their performances, and I couldn't imagine anybody else attempting to redo it in any capacity. So much so that I may even struggle to watch it entirely and stick with the original movies instead. Just my opinion, please don't shoot me 🙊😆
I did not feel that I was being corrected, I took it as humor and I guess I should have ended my "stand corrected" phrase with a LOL .... HAGRID (Robbie)...massive shoes.... SNAPE (Alan) extraordinary deliverance ...... .................. The original movies stand on their own, I can only hope that the series does justice to the original books.
Would love to see more of the House Ghosts, and Sir Nicolas’ Death Day Party 💀 🎉
Why 🙄
@@Jsarmy87124dude they are dope moments
@@Jsarmy87124 Because it would make a great scene…. Obviously. And the films did a disservice to everyone by not bringing John Cleese back.
One of my big hopes is that they stay true to the canon ages of the adult characters. The films probably made the right choice in casting so many acting legends in those roles, but I think the tv show has a chance to stay true to the source material in that regard and maybe even cast some unknown 30 and 40 something actors and give them a huge breakout.
I also prefer unknown actors. I don't want to see Peter Capaldi as Dumbledore; thoughts of Doctor Who might color his performance.
"unknown" is the key word there. I really hope it doesn't become a cameo fest for celebrities
I just can't wait! here's to hoping the tv series live up to the books!
I predict you WILL wait! LOL.
In an interview Daniel Radcliffe especially said that he was very excited to see how they do the deathly hallows and he couldn't wait to watch specifically that one
what else do you expect he would say? He's a panderer who will say and do anything to avoid criticism in order to maintain his celebrity status.
@@gemelwalters2942 honestly my problem with the movies was never his acting, more so writing changes. I didn't hate Radcliffe's Harry. i disliked the writing making him less interesting, witty, and making him seem less than somehow.
McMuffinV2@@McMuffinV2 I think the writing for Harry was fine. I notice in this fandom a lot of ppl want Harry to be the best at everything while simultaneously saying he's not a Gary Sue. The writing has him depending on others and that's much better writing.
Far too many fictional stories give readers an overinflated ego when they believe they have main character energy. Sure it's fiction but the lessons and themes it explores have real world impact and it's good to have balance.
He needed his friends to succeed and powerful wizards like Dumbledore and Snape. I'm still not a fan of him being coddled by everyone around him but at least they explained later that it was part of a bigger plan he just wasn't aware of.
@gemelwalters2942 I never said I want him to be more insanely powerful, but there's no doubt they dumbed his character down. Harry in the books isn't particularly powerful, he's a good wizard and adept with magic but it's events out of his control entirely that made him able to rival voldemort. The movies took away his smart ass attitude and made him less intelligent. Just a inferior character in my opinion is all. I don't hate the movies though, I just finished the books recently and really liked them.
I agree with a 100% recasting. Too many people have died and aged out of the roles they previously played. It needs a to be completely recast in order for it to work.
yeah recast but hopefully still some well-known actors - atleast for the older characters
I think if you can have characters come back and play the same role and it makes sense. They should do it. I think there’s plenty of actors who can come back and play the same role. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
My main hope for this series is that it sticks to books really well, they made some strange changes in the movies.
With JKR overseeing things, that is pretty much a given. They will have ample time to include incidents that were omitted in the movies due to time constraints.
HARRY DID YA PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIYAH

I would love to see Tom Felton as Lucius. I think he has earned a place in the show with his undying support for the Harry Potter world
No, it would be weird. You can't have an actor playing two different roles in the same universe. I thought it might be cool at first too, but then I thought about it.
@@_Professor_Oak Hm... I do not agree. It's a new interpretation, having the parents played by the actors who played the childrens at the time wouldn't be particularly weird Imho.
That said, I think the best fan service would be for them to reprise their respective roles for the timeskip that concludes the story.
Or like a bar man, or better yet, as a cameo for the same wizard professor his grandpa played in the first movie.
no... they better not use any actor from the movies.
I don’t see Felton as Lucius. Malfoy and Lucius are very different characters. Felton’s face and demeanour aren’t imposing enough for Lucius, they worked well for Malfoy who was spoiled and a bully but ultimately both more cowardly and more sympathetic than his father.
Well J K Rowling is very picky about who does anything with her work. So, I am sure she won't let them screw anything up. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Um . . . Cursed child?
Um . . . Cursed child?
@@mcgspare1310 I think she didn't write it, it is more a fanfic
@@SORAUchiha9 she was part of writing it
@@SORAUchiha9She didn't write it, yeah, but she still confirmed that this abomination is canonical.
So yeah, Draco being a better father than Harry, Cedric a Death Eater in a timeline where he's being ridiculed, Hermione becomes a bitter bachelor if Ron doesn't become her husband and Voldemort has a child with Bellatrix, all that is okay according to her. 🫠
I'm sooooo excited for this HP series. And I'm very happy that us HP book fans will get see things in this tv series that was missing from the movies.
His dark materials was amazing so it might be amazing too ! It is set partly in an academic setting and it's a wonderful fantasy show based on Phillip Pullman's books, you should all watch it, it's deep and wonderful.
It sucked
Super excited. I'm curious if they are still going to use all British actors. And I am all about them splitting up books into two seasons - that just allows us to enjoy the show longer. :)
I will have to wait years for Tonks T.T
seen a casting call they are looking for actors only from the UK and Ireland
@@rjjtmt That's a bummer. My perfect Snape is Adrian Brody but he's American.
@@mazzy2121 No, it's good they are only sticking to the British Isles and Ireland. An American has no place in the franchise unless they're specially stated to be from America.
Seeing the new cast is gonna be challenging & emotional since no one can portray the characters as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton & other legends did. It would definitely be a mix of emotions and happiness!
Aside from Rupert Grint, Daniel and Emma weren't good as Harry and Hermione. Imo
@@laurakinney3767 Well, it’s your opinion. They nailed it, that’s the world’s opinion. It is what it is.
@@TalhaCS lol, you would be surprised to see how many Book fans (which are a lot btw) dislike Emma and Daniel as Harry and Hermione. It isn't just "my opinion".
@@laurakinney3767It wouldn’t have been a hit if these actors were disliked.
I’m so excited for a true to the books series ! 10 years of new HP content eeeeeek 😃😃😃.
If it’s anything like GoT, imagine how the vibe and feel is going to be, the costume design, the sets, the visuals. It’s going to look amazing! I too want to see an all new cast, and yes, sticking to the books will be key. They don’t need to add anything, take anything out, or change any of the characters-just stick to the books! I would love to see a new rendition of Hogwarts castle, like I hope the look and style is different.
I want to see S.P.E.W, I want to see Hermione, Ron, and Draco become prefects, I want to see Peeves, I want to see the Hogwarts kitchen area, I want to see Winky, I want to see Tom Riddle’s family and how he obtained the items he used as horcruxes!
The cast also have got to be committed to the entire project, I’d hate to see an actor leave the project after two seasons and have to be replaced, especially if they’re playing one of the main characters.
I just really, really hope they don’t destroy it the way Disney has destroyed Star Wars. Hopefully they learned from the mistakes of the last Fantastic Beasts.
Rowling still has creative control over Harry Potter. She won’t let her books and stories be tarnished.
What the Collector said. Lucas gave away ALL rights to his work and any control. Rowling is still very much involved so it's a very different situation.
I have a lot of faith in HBO! They rarely miss
@@ThePotterCollectoromg thank god❤
I honestly don't really trust Jo anymore. I mean, she basically skewed all of her amazing work to John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, by creating the God awful "Cursed Child". She literally made it canon! Canon!

I need Peeves. The technology is better than 2001 and he needs to make his appearance. Also Ginny's love poem to harry in chamber.
I think a huge part of that series because successful is they need to be true to the books. So much was missing or changed in the movies which was frustrating. I understand they will do that in order to make things work in the time allotted for a movie but for HP fans, I would have sat through a 4+ hr movie if they kept the correct story from the books. I wouldn't mind seeing previous characters coming back as other ones if they fit the part well or some of the teachers like Trelawney or even bring back Ralph Fiennes for Voldemort. I thought I read that they wouldn't mind doing those roles again.
Justice for Ronald Weasley’s character!!
Thanks for the update. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they stick to the books. Fingers crossed
Yes! Thank you! Totally agree that we need all brand new unknown but good actors for the TV series. I don't want to see any pop ups of well known people as it distracts from the story and the story is powerful enough to stand on its own feet
Hi Peter! This is such exciting news! I would love it if they stick to the Harry Potter books too! Thank you so much for sharing!
I am beyond excited for this series! People that have only watched the movies without reading the books are gonna be mind blown at how much they've missed, how different certain characters are in the books like Ron & Genny, character theyve never heard of like Winky, Peeves, Hepzibah Smith, etc! I can't wait to see who is gonna play such iconic characters
I love the idea of a TV Show, seeing as it would breath new life into the books which will get people back into reading as we could see a number of chapters turned into episodes to make the series look longer
Yay! I’m so excited to see movement on the show! Thank you for the update Peter! 😊
His dark materials is the Golden compass as a show.. I loved it
Nice! Thank you for the update. Very excited for this. Hope they have a wonderful cast. 😁
If they don’t have Kreacher’s full character progression, that I will be mad. I NEED that Battle of Hogwarys scene from DH.
Also, if they STILL don’t include Peeves, I will literally be PEEVED.
Jo being heavily involved is great, so many fandoms have been marred by deviating from the creator’s original vision. If it evolves I want it to because she approved it. Yes that includes Cursed Child. I still haven’t seen it but it seems like a Jo-approved fanfic play. If she redoes it for HBO too (with edits perhaps) that would be stellar.
The next decade or so is going to be magical!
I 100% agree with everything you said. Very exciting news for all Harry Potter fans.
If they concentrate on making this show religiously close to the source material, with high budget epic storytelling and without adding any messaging into it, I think they’re onto a hit series.
His Dark Materials was soooo good! This makes me very happy!
Succession is one of the best written and just overall shows I have seen in a long long time
That was Jesse Armstrong work as a showrunner. Francesca was a consultant on season 3-4 though
His Dark Materials is so incredible! My favorite tv show of all time. Please give it a watch! Phillip Pullman’s series is amazing!
I watched "His Dark Material" it's "The Golden Compass" and they did a pretty good job up until the last couple episodes but I have high expectations from this sample. They stuck pretty closely to the original material and that was super.
I'm waiting for that 6 part. All of voldy's flashbacks as in the books
I’m really excited that JK is going to be heavily involved. I think this is going to be amazing!
Me too. I was concerned that they would try to sideline her.
not heavily involved but She has her own production company now (since 2013) for the adaptation of all her novels - Brontë Film & TV.
I'm not... she's gone quite fanatic and I dont want her current views to permeate into the tv show, ruin characters or add unnecessary changes to them. I think it'd be best if she was as far as possible from the show and let the wonderful team do their magic without her breathing down their necks

I'm personally excited as well. I'm really hoping they stay true to the books. Really hoping they can also find other characters that are almost true yo the vision of them as well.
I really hope they include Peeves! Harry & Ginnys relationship, Ginny being tough and doing her bat bogey hex! Also Tom Riddle & Merope Guant (Voldemorts past!), the big battle in Half Blood Prince (more details)
I wonder if it will start off as a kid's show and age up as the characters age, like in the books and movies.
i’m hoping it’s true to the books as well! and i really hope to see things that we didn’t see in the movies. i’m most excited to see what they will do for order of the phoenix!!
Honestly I hope they find a composer that has never heard/seen the movies, because otherwise I imagine it’s going to be so hard to compose a unique and honest interpretation.
I would love to see Winky the house elf come to life. I would also love to see the twins mischief that they conjured during the castle rebellion expanded in the series.
Yeahhhhhh! Super excited about this news. Just like you Peter, hope they stick to the books! ❤ 📚 ⚡️ 👓
I can't wait for this show. Things I am most excited to see are the Death Day party, Peeves of coarse, the true beginning of The Goblet of Fire where the Weasley's blow through the fireplace, Winky, The true beginning of HBP where Dumbledore picks Harry up, ALL of the memories that Harry sees in the books, Harry and Ginny love story and their real first kiss, More quidditch. There is a lot of other stuff too lol. I just want them to do it right.
Im so stoked! Remember how great Game of Thrones was when they had the source material to work with (season 1 - 5). Here they have ALL the books/full story and great people behind the wheel! There are soo many great unknown kid/adult actors. Movies nostalgia yes, but this can be real great!
I’m beyond excited. I can’t wait
I think you'll like the His Dark Materials books by Philip Pullman. And even though the show deviates from the books a decent amount I've been told the series is one to check out. However as with other adaptations for shows, we as Harry Potter fans we need to be prepared for some such liberties and other plotline developments to happen that were not originally in the books. I look forward to see what they will come up with.
Ever since they’ve announced the TV show I’ve been thinking about how they could adapt it and I really really really hope that it has a bit of a darker tone to it from the start.
I would LOVE if the very first scene just opened with the title card “Halloween, 1981” and you just started with the tragic scene (or at least flashes of it) in Godric’s Hollow. And then you flash back to Vernon’s perfectly normal (thank you very much) day before Harry gets there. It would set the tone for the story so well. I’m just worried they’ll steer away from something like that out of fear of frightening the younger kids demographic.
I have a feeling it's going to be very CGI heavy
CGI costs real money; the cost-conscious producers will lean to cheaper stuff. The first chapter of Sorcerer's Stone will certainly be lengthened in the series, thank goodness (I want to see Vernon creeped out by what's happening). There will probably be more expanded Dursley family time and classroom instruction because it's cheaper. I do hope to see more students face their boggarts and maybe a non-Gryffindor Quidditch match.
@@DogbiteWYou shouldn‘t do this or that just because its cheaper. Take a look at the effect it has. Practical stuff is mostly seen as authentical and it is also good for the actors obviously bc they see whats going on in the scenes
I think what will be difficult but also necessary is making sure all Harry Potter fans whom have seen the movies do their best to take the bias of the movies out of their minds for the new series and not have any specific expectations. You need a completely open mind for something like this that is this major of a reboot. I will ofc watch the reboot, but I've watched reboots before of other movies or shows and I couldn't separate the originals from my head enough not to make comparisons and just enjoying the reboot. This reboot is gonna take a little bit for me to watch bc of how often I watch the movies. I'll have to go on a movie drought and like not watch them from now until after each season. Its fun afterwards to make comparisons though just to see which aspects of each version you like better but for an initial watch through of the reboot, its best to take as much bias of the movies out as possible lol
Man in the High Castle, Killing Eve, His Dark Materials…they’re pretty good shows. I’m so excited for this new series!
I'm so excited for this!!!!!
Thanks for this update!
Idk why but I can picture Matthew Goode as Tom/Voldemort. He’s got the suaveness and intimidating prowess.
I think Charles Dance would be Amazing, but I suppose he's too old.
@@MRDEREVKO Actually Charles Dance is the perfect age to be Voldie - in his 70s at least. Matthew Goode is way too young!! He would make a great Sirius or Remus though!!
@@francescathomas3502The problem is that Charles Dance is currently 77 years old: it's sad to say but he is too old for a long-term role. As a reminder, Richard Harris died at 72.
@@francescathomas3502 Yea but Voldemorte isn't supposed to look or feel old so they def need a younger actor.
An animated series would hold up better than live action. This is also true for Avatar the Last Airbender.
I had never read any of the Harry Potter books, nor seen any of the movies apart from the first one, up until the start of this year when I decided to read the full series. The way I wanted to do it and did it was read the first book then watched the first movie, read the second book and watched the second movie and so on. 6 months to the day I started I finished all 7 books and all 8 movies. I have to say I really enjoyed the books but the movies were just okay, my favourite movie still being the first one. I would say my favourite book is a toss up between The Half Blood Prince and The Goblet of Fire. Having just finished the entire series, this news of a TV show is exciting and I look forward to see what they do with it.
The lost prophecy is my favorite chapter in a book ever. I really hope they make chapter a full episode. I want to see harry rage.
I.cant.wait!!! When you showed what Jo said I legit shrieked! Her being involved in the making of the series is for me the most exciting thing of all! You are right, we are not going anywhere⚡️
I’m excited to see what they’re going to bring to our screens. I truly hope they stay more along the actual books and not just turn the movies into a show. Like some other shows have done. I can’t wait to see the trailers and the teasers. Personally I want Dobby to have the actual role he deserves and not just a house elf that does appearances when they feel the need like they did in the films.
1:56 He did a great job with The Last of Us! It is my favourite game of all time and have played it many times and he did a fantastic job with directing the series and deciding how to play out the scenes to best represent the game while keeping it fresh

The man in the high castle was incredible writing
Cantvwait for this series, thank you for the update. Been seeing that it was cancelled, i personally believe it will be book specific. Again thanks for the update.!!!
I know this can’t be helped but I feel sorry for the kid actors already, they’re gonna get so much hate at such a young age
Seeing tv shows on streaming is like eating with full stomach.
Excited to hear they selected Gardner for the series showrunner - she wrote season 2 of the Man in the High Castle which is an incredibly interesting unique blend of documentary/history/fantasy with classic 'twilight zone' thrown in. Highly recommend this series for anyone who likes those 3 genres, premise is we lost WWII and Germany and Japan have taken over the world (but it's really not true) and it follows characters trying to get the full story out, it's edgy, the set designs are amazing and the characters are people you can relate to. So I know she will bring that same creative vision to the HP series, that's awesome news!!
I want a full episode focusing on Bloody Baron 🙏🏻
(I hope they will keep his victorian/pirate vibe and look - and portray Slytherin in a more neutral way than the movies)
Don’t forget about the Audible reading of the books with voice actors and possibly sfx or music.
😍 I am so happy that Disney has nothing to do with it. Universal do the right thing with the fans you will be repaid a thousandfold. YOU ARE FACING PEOPLE WHO ARE STARVING FOR A GOOD SHOW. I want to feel the same excitement when I read the first book it open up a world and a ready frenzy it started on vacation read the first book then spent my vacation finding all the books present in the series and then waiting for the release of each new book. I am always hopping for the author for continuation in the wizarding world 🤞please stick to the books want to see Dobby friends and peeve all the side characters and the background action and wizardry politics that would be the cherry on top of the cake
Can they bring back 22 episode seasons? like the old days
His dark materials was absolutely fantastic!
Excited, but really apprehensive about the cast choices
This video made me so excited for this show! Thanks for the details and updates. 😁
his dark materials is really good! i would reccomend it 😊 also mark mylod is great!
Succession, man in the high tower, and his dark material, all top notch writing with some distinct similarities between them. I haven't watched the others, but that writing mixed with a director that's produced adult dark fantasy such as GOT makes me thing this series will definitely have potential to get very adult quickly. If this is focused on the existing story, Id almost hope that they focus on the adults more.
It's always been my opinion that an adaptation of a book or series of books should either be faithful down to the last detail, or be even more enriched (while still remaining coherent and staying in line with canon)! There are some plots that deserve to be further explored, and it would be fascinating to dive into the politics of the world as well. Flashbacks about some characters' pasts are also super important, because as much as I love the original movies, they were still a bit superficial and glossed over a lot of things that were in the book. I'm afraid of being too optimistic or having expectations that are too high, but I am so excited!
Honestly, one of the reasons I think books, graphic novels and the like are much better for TV shows than movies is the fact that there's so much more room to flesh out the story.
Movies can be good, but since most people don't want to sit through 3+ hours for a movie... Unfortunately, details have to be cut out for the runtime
I am so excited for this show!!! I have seen His Dark Materials. (I actually got Max at the time specifically to see it only because Lin-Manuel Miranda was in it, lol!)
Dude succession is SOOOO GOOOOOD
It would be interesting to see many things that didn't include from the books like when Arthur Weasley fought Lucius on Chamber of Secrets book, it was funny to imagine that for me.
I could enjoy more time in the burrow ....
I hope it’s none of this woke nonsense.
Keep it legit and stick to the book!
I hope they show everything about Voldemorts past in the halfblood prince

Ohhhh I’m hoping we will have cameos of the original cast! I’d love to see Tom Felton as Lucius!
I look forward to the series especially if they follow the books faithfully. It would be so rewarding to watch the whole story unfold.
I hope they choose adult actors with great skill and gravitas
I just hope they don't mess it up! I do love the movies but I want to see what they do with the TV series.
