• Shirley Valentine (1989) 🏝️Born on the Peloponnese island of Ortoritas in a bustling port town, aged only 3, Phyllis' gift of Sight was indisputable. With an endless supply of sailors on shore-leave she developed her talents in the dockyard taverna, touching the lives of lonely men a long way from home. The name 'Seer Phyllis' fizzed on everybody's lips, spreading far and wide in seafaring communities across the known world..
🦠Disaster struck during the Gallic Wars and an outbreak of 'The French Disease'. Devious fellow Fortune-Teller 'Penny Cyllin, Weaver of Destiny' dropped her prices to steal clients and so began the decline of ‘Seer Phyllis’. A bitter rivalry of slander and devastating price wars led a desperate Phyllis into depression. As a birthday treat she picnicked on a hilltop and whilst scrying with a coconut the skies turned the colour of coal. A thunder storm appeared from nowhere. Encircled by violent flashes of lightning a startled Phyllis curled herself into a ball and prayed to the Heavens for safety.
⚡️An almighty thunder bolt of Biblical proportions came to earth just inches from her nose. After the smoke cleared Phyllis noticed the coconut and her ChillBox were both perfectly cleft in two. "It's a sign" she thought "but what does it mean?" The sun's return brought a beautiful Rainbow as Phyllis walked back to town gathering berries and unlucky rabbits, claimed by the storm. While skinning the carcasses she stared into space and pondered the day's events. Still upset about losing her ChillBox and favourite coconut Phyllis had a moment of clarity, “I should use my Heavenly Gifts to crack cold cases" she cried.
🚨As luck would have it, that very evening her parents were entertaining the local Detective who granted her a trial period. With a namesake already in the Constabulary Phyllis chose the name Polly (meaning 'Beloved drop of the Sea'). Her detective skills at solving crimes in Maritime Vice & Smuggling are legendary. She became known as 'Polly Seer', the sleuth forsooth. Policia / Police forces around the world honour her name to this day.
