Blackrock Morning Magic…
…my own personal little Conowingo and so very much more…
I am very fortunate to have several wonderful locations just minutes from my home for wildlife and bird photography/videography, as well as a few great friends to share the experience with. One of my favorite “year-round” locations, less than a 10-minute drive from my front door, is a cove on the upper end of Lake Marburg and Codorus State Park, known as Blackrock Flats, where a small stream, Furnace Creek feeds the lake and access is provided by a small gravel parking area and Kayak launch favored by the area locals. Spring, Summer, and early Fall host an Osprey breeding population and the Bald Eagle population is active year-round along with Winter waterfowl and other various raptors that frequent the area. During the late Summer and Fall the water levels normally drop exposing large expanses of mud flats attracting numerous species of migrating shorebirds creating a mecca for the birding and photography enthusiasts.
Codorus State Park is located in south-central Pennsylvania, York County…
