  • How to repair a Micro USB port
This is a pretty common occurence! USB micro isnt a particularly strong connector and in consumer electronics they get broken all the time. With a little care you can repair or replace them, this is how to do it! This time it is on a WIFI camera

    Hint :
When you need to place a charging port, instead of using twist, just insert the cable in and hold it. You can position it the most easiest way ever.

The biggest problem is when they are not attached to the board well and rip off the PCB tracks when they come off. Had it happen to my MiST computer.

  • @marcofreire

micro USB is garbage. Always bad connections and break too easy. Why didn't they keep the mini USB? Way stronger and just a little bit thicker. USB-C is very sturdy and don't break as easly as micro USB. I like USB-C. Never had an issue with them, but it might be a pain to replace because of the hidden pins that you can't see and don't have access to, so you kinda have to pray that they are soldered underneath the connector.

From what I seen u do, I take it and correct me if I'm wrong. I wouldn't be able to reuse a usb port from another similar device onto another one. Would it be because of the what u have to melt to connect it to the motherboard???

I've tried to fix the micro USB charger port in my music thing.

Six attempts and I just couldn't make it work.
I even tried hot glue it in place so at least it will charge one last time before I throw it to the bin.
I guess I'll keep my Carpetnry skills to work and buy a new one, my hands were not made in China...

Micro USB isn’t the most durable port. I am hoping that USB Type-C is more resilient to damage, but I am worried about the connecting pins inside that sticks out like a tongue. I wish it were more like Apple’s Lightning Connector, because there’s nothing sticking out to become loose overtime.
