How'd I miss this!? Pivot makes an awesome bike. Expensive but man, so nice! Absolutely love my Firebird and use it as a trail bike. Need some fitness to push it around the mountain but at the same time, the suspension is so efficient, you almost don't notice the weight!
I heard great things about the Switchblade. Glad you got to test it out on the trails. My Ibis Mojo 3 had the DW Link and I'm also a big fan of how it climbs. I may have to put this on my list. Thanks for the great review Zane.
Thanks dude! And yeah 100% if you know where to look you can ride so much variety. I'd like to take this thing to the pickall area and ride the rocks but I only had 3 hours😂
Great video man! I'm still loving my V2 Hightower, but I need to get some experience riding other bikes so I can see what the difference is between brands.
Thanks Reggie, I agree it's a great do it all bike but I think my riding has gotten to a point where a bigger bike is warranted. The Hightower often feels a little under-biked on some of our north east tech and 30 ft jumps lol
@ridingwithreggie mega is A LOT of bike. Unless you're hitting insanely fast tech and bike parks every week, I think the mega might be a little over kill 😂
@@splooshmtb I plan on spending more time at Windrock and similar places like Jarrod's Place. I think they rent Megatowers there. Pollen season is almost over, I've been indoors since March sneezing my butt off.
That's a good question! Since I didn't get this one straight out of the box I honestly don't know how they come. I'd love to assume they come set up tubeless.
That was definitely one of my top choices a few years back. Never got to demo it extensively. Just rode it around the street. Beautiful bike, but the cost it brutal. I ended up with a 2022 Ibis Ripmo and no regrets. You should definitely add Ibis to your consideration if you are still looking. And it's cheaper. Pivots are great bikes, but overpriced in my opinion.
They're definitely a pretty penny, you aren't wrong! I'm officially not looking anymore, if you're interested, check out the video before last, you won't be disappointed!
I have a firebird and a switchblade.. rarely find myself riding the switchblade anymore.. give a firebird a try before you decide.. Jumping is where the firebird excels over the switchblade
The DW link is essentially made for that, it’s super fast accelerating. But mind you you do need to run the rear suspension a bit firmer to fully engage the DW link’s benefits
@@JoeJohnson_ More air yes and in my experience, making the High Speed Compression (HSC) firmer will yield the most pedaling/accelerating benefits. However that will likely sacrifice the small bump sensitivity (firmer shocks = more pedal efficiency but also can feel bumps more). Making the Low Speed Compression (LSC) firmer also yields noticeable pedaling acceleration, though not quite as much as increasing the High Speed Compression in my experience. I haven't experimented with tokens yet so I can't really speak to that. I would say just tinker with the HSC/LSC settings. I prefer a firm LSC setting and a softer HSC, as I like more small bump plushness. Happy riding to you!
@@JoeJohnson_ Also, for even more acceleration (and climbing efficiency) you might want to try an oval chainring. I've added one on my bike and it is very helpful in adding some pedaling power.
bikes climb so good now your better off with more travel in my opinion my new enduro bike climbs better and as you may expect descends better than my old trail bike

You're selling me more and more on a firebird haha I'll get one in and give it a go😂

Thanks Sage! The climbing was super impressive, it's certainly on my list.
Awesome video! Looks like a sick bike. Patapsco is such a great place for test riding stuff because they got a little bit of everything!

@splooshmtb I kinda want a Megatower, but I don't think I've completely mastered my Hightower just yet, maybe next year?

Do you know if the 2022 pivot (green - older model) switchblade comes out of the box with tubeless tires ready to ride?

Really good insights, and yes, I 100% intent to try the firebird first. Thanks dude!
2nd this! And the Firebird is awesome in tech too!
@@TheRideAbides agree... it rides like a trail bike with enduro capabilities..
Nice Vid Bro.
Ay thanks E!
Hi, How well does this bike pumping accelerate out on the trails? Because I'm ready going to build this bike
This bike felt very quick and light so pumping would definitely get this bike going fast.

@@TheJofricahello ,setup bit firmer mean is shocks add more air? Low speed compression and a little more twist or Replace with a larger token?

can u get me one?😂
Coming right up! I'll drop off the invoice next time😉
You keep talking about chunk and letting her eat. Your trails are smooth bro be honest.
@phantasma2323 these trails aren't the chunkiest, but it's where the demo was happening, so you make do with what chunk you can find.
