Magnificently performed… I have the privilege of having seen Luciano Pavarotti live in Concert at the Seattle, WA. Coliseum back in the 1980. What a great experience! 🎭 ❤ -May he Rest in Peace.
for your information: there is a whole recording of pavarotti as tonio in pagliaggi! I have the dvd at home and it is by far the best version I have ever heard. Thanks for uploading this video
Tonio is the tenor role in La Fille du regiment, one of Pavarotti's famous early roles. :) Would be nice to have a full video of that opera, but I believe only a few minutes of footage exist. His attempts to sing Pagliacci and other heavier roles in the 90s are somewhat less impressive, unfortunately. :)
@@Odrl ah yes I mixed it up.. in pagliacci he also sings canio and not tonio🤦♂️😂. But I don't agree with what you said last. Not many come close to Pavarotti's level in Pagliacci in my opinion.
What a stage presence! ❤️ I'm convinced that he gave great performances in the role of Edgardo already in the early 60s. And, yes, it's beyond me why we can't admire Luciano as Tonio, Edgardo, Arturo and Fernando on video/DVD... 🙄
@@bernardfield8110 you wish that you can get to that age and sing like him. It's the problem of your generation, looking for perfection instead of feelings and what's in your heart.

Thank you!
This is one of the greatest scenes in all of opera. It is so nice to finally see it performed by Pavarotti. Thank you so much for posting this!
Sublime. Conmovedor Pavarotti hasta las lágrimas. Voz inigualable!
Coincido Totalmente, interpretación exquisita!
Condivido plenamente.
Mario Philipesci este peste Pavarotti in rolul ăsta. Baritonul este foarte bun.
Pavarotti pulls out all the vocal stops in this rousing finale to Donizetti's greatest opera.
And that's how THAT goes! Bravo tenore!

Lowered half a tone. Surprising.
@@bernardfield8110 At this stage of his career not unusual... Already in the late 70s "Di quella pira" was transposed down a half step on stage 😉
@@helgezagoda True. They all do it. They persecute poor Domingo for doing it but everyone else gest a free pass.

Same thing with Calaf!
I know right? The one from 1997 is perfect...

I prefer Ferruccio Tagliavini and Di Stefano.. But Pavarotti earned his stripes ;)
Kraus
Medio tono bajo
He has a great and wonderful voice, but I prefer FLOREZ !!!!!!!
No accounting for taste. Florez is the wrong voice type for the part- he's a leggiero at best and this is best sung by a lyric.
Florez sounds like a bleating sheep....comparing a mouse with an elephant in vocal terms.
Are you serious?
