The McMurtry Spéirling is still the FASTEST car on the Goodwood Hillclimb!

- During the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, I have filmed this hill climb monster: the 1000HP McMurtry Spéirling fan car! After 23 years Nick Heidfeld's timed shootout record in the McLaren MP4/13 has been broken with almost 2 seconds. Behind the steering wheel is F1 and IndyCar legend Max Chilton's, he did a 39.08 seconds run in the McMurtry Spéirling fan car, the fastest car ever on the Goodwood Festival of Speed today. This little beast (Batmobile) has a insane 1000HP and creat 2000 kilo's of downforce! Enjoy the video.

Although the fastest car of the 2023 Goodwood Shootout was the McLaren Solus GT, this McMurtry is still the record holder! 😃😍
They didn't try to compete for fastest time and preferred to do burnouts instead. I mean, they won once and hold the record, they can only lose by competing. :)

I still say its the baby Batmobile!! fastest car at Goodwood by far!! If i had the money.. that above all the cars at the event would be the one to purchase.
@@xevious2501 Wouldn't be very practical though, the fan noise is extreme and I'm not even sure an average person could drive this thing fast without crashing...
@@magicmulder i actually love the fan noise. something completely different. like similar to a jet turbine but not as extreme. as for driving, well the extreme is the point. its faster than anything out there including F1 cars. Its on an entirely new tier of performance, though not explored years prior by Adrian newy and the old Red Bull X2010 that went from fan car with equally insane performance (theoretically) to what inevitably turned into the Valkerie GT

Seriously! I often watch TH-cam videos at 1.5-2x speed, and had to double check that I hadn’t forgotten to set the speed back to 1x.

I was there on Sunday, and it did a demo run as opposed to being in the shootout, and I guy I was chatting to told me it had done the demo run in 39 seconds. Considerably faster than everything else that day.

I was at McMurtry the other day, all I can say is it’s an incredible car! I wish I could say more but I signed an nda just to look at it, seeing as it was in pieces. Amazing bit of engineering🤟😊

This car goes to the edge of the cliff, and does a Michael Jackson moonwalk on the edge at a 45° angle. Understanding the technology is one thing.
Wrapping your mind around how it can "cheat" physics this way is still hard to comprehend.

No way it does sub 30, no car in existence can do that, with luck it beats the Mcmurtry by 1 to 2 second at the most if it doesn't crash.

I think the Nevera is the quickest road-legal production car ever up the Goodwood hill. Spéirling s neither road legal nor in production.
(One FIA definition of "production car" Is 25 substantial identical cars produced in 12 months, Rimac should get there).

@@sourabhverma996 McMurtry said a year ago that the production Spéirling would be road legal (somewhere on Earth, probably not the USA). But then it returned to Goodwood with the even faster Spéirling Pure track-only car, kind of like Aston Martin's Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR, without as far as I can tell any update on the road-legal version.

I just thought of something... They should allow the fan car to race other cars BUT it has to capture all the crap it spits up into the air into a lawn mower bag sorta thing, so the more laps it makes in the race, the heavier the car becomes. That's more fair and might make for an exciting beginning and end to the race. Let's put that 1000hp to work carrying road debris while racing AND the race track would be cleaned!

It has a tiny 60kwh battery. The entire footprint is small. It's just not much car to make up the weight.
