Letters to the lost also sounds like a me book and I really liked the cursebreakers series. I loved the thousandth floor as a teen but I was living for the drama so you made the right choice for sure 😝 I have the ones we are meant to find and have been on the fence about it lately; but I think I’m still going to try it first. But maybe it will end up being a DNF
I 100% hated clown in a cornfield and DNFd it! Not a huge historical person either has to be pretty specific for me to enjoy! book club wins - I didn't even try after the forest lol I got audio and was like naw
HAHA! I should have DNFed Clown in a Cornfield, but it was very quick to read. I gave it a 3 and just kept it because I felt like I should have liked it more. 😂
Hi Chelsea! I read the whole Gentleman's Guide series by Mackenzie Lee earlier this year before learning of the controversy, would give them all solid 3.5-4 stars. Here's some not too spoilery stuff about the books that may help you decide if you'd like to continue: 2nd book the MC is ace, one of her companions is a lesbian, they don't spend all of the book actually on a pirate ship being pirates, but there is a lot of travel like in book 1, with a focus on time-appropriate gender discrimination. The 3rd book the MC suffers greatly with general and social anxiety, his fiance is an outspoken suffragette. It takes place around 16? years after book 2 so there's a bit of "where are they now?" as you catch up with the characters from 1 & 2. There is quite a bit of traveling around in this as well. The novella is not a necessary read at all, it's just about the couple from book 1 getting together for the first time lol The books lean more towards fantasy as the series continues, something that I personally wasn't a fan of as I am not much of a fantasy person. But if you'd like I can tell you really quick what fantasy elements are in the books, it would just be more spoilery.
Thank you so much for this! I might still pick them back up to try at a later date. But I read the first book YEARS ago so the tropes might not line up with my current mood or what I'm looking for. But I remember loving the first one at that time!
I haven’t yet! I’m probably going to the used bookstore on Thursday. As long as you’re in the US, DM me on Insta or email me (chelsea.zhao.reads@gmail.com) and we can work that out!
Hiii I was wondering if you're gonna have another Choose your own adventure readathon this year? They're my absolute favorite and the only ones I'm actually excided and able to finish!
Hi! I'm currently in the process of unpacking from moving across multiple states... But I defintiely am planning on having one by the end of the year! I'll be starting the planning process once my life calms down a bit. 😂
😮 i love an enchantment of ravens! But fair enough. I would’ve totally stolen the Alexis hall from you and clown in a cornfield if I lived in the US. Also, I always really enjoy watching a “I’m moving unhaul” because people really unhaul books they should’ve for a while and it forces you to be strict!
It really did force me to be stricter with myself... although I'm sure still not strict enough. 😂 I wish shipping wasn't so expensive because I would have totally sent you some unhaul books!

I probably would have tried most of the YA books I unhauled except for the fact that I had a deadline!!
Letters to the lost was REALLY good/emotional from what I remember

The Fate of Stars is so pretty 😍 if you still have it, I'd love to buy it.
Hi! We've been in the process of moving, so it actually already got purchased. But I agree: it was a gorgeous cover!
