Indonesia is a beautiful country. After watching this video, it's just reminds me of my travel vlogs in my channel 😢. Many places and nice food to explore too.
The love that Mama Lulu showed towards her birthplace reminds me about why many of our football national team players decided to represent Indonesia. More than half of the squad are half Dutch-half Indo, and their grandparents left the country for similar reason as Mama Lulu's. It's basically their parents/grandparents who wanted them to represent Indonesia, and they agreed because of that connection. And somehow I believe, people with similar background as Mama Lulu love this country more than the Indonesians themselves
Yes, I strongly agree that those who are naturalized in the Indonesian national team must also be their parents or grandparents very proud of their grandchildren defending Indonesia....
Thanks for sharing Bandung with is. A very interesting place, plenty to do and see. It is certainly very evident with the architecture the influence that the Dutch had leading up to 1945. Great stuff Chai 🤩
Your mom is a trooper, and she is very lovely, i`m glad you have the research of her/your roots together, but Chai you as well can be proud of your half being Indonesian ! Great travel experiences Champs ❤👍terima kasih 🙏🙏
In Bandung there was once a resistance to the Dutch by burning the entire city of Bandung called "Bandung Lautan Api", in Bandung also the first Asian-African conference was held. Bandung is also nicknamed "Paris van Java".
Indonesia is rich in culture and art, culinary types of 6,000 different kinds, languages nearly 800 languages are scattered throughout Indonesia. Kamu harus bangga karena di tubuhmu mengalir darah Indonesia dari ibumu.
Some place you can explore at Bandung Area : Jalan Cihampelas, Dutch & Japan cave at Dago Hill, Tangkuban Perahu. Some sugestion traditional food and drink : Tahu Sumedang, Peiyeum, Bajigur hot drink, Kacang hijau soup, Indomie Garut.
Do you know, Indonesia is very large and elongated, a European continent is covered by the vastness of Indonesia. Imagine if you fly from west Indonesia to the east, it takes 7 hours with a distance of 5600 km.
welcome in my city, bandung is a little bit crowded now, but i hope you and your mom can stil enjoy it. FYI you were just exploring jalan braga where back then in colonial time it was used to be a place for dutch meneers in suits to hang out with their cigarette in their hands having chit chat.
Bandung was to become the new capital of the Dutch East Indies, the plans were ready. This was because Batavia was too humid and the city was already sinking. The new parliament and government buildings were ready to be built. However, due to the Second World War, it did not go ahead. The only building that was built is the current Gedung Sate. Bandung was popular with the Europeans because of the cooler climate. But after the independence not everyone wanted to belong to the Republic of Indonesia at first, such as Aceh, the Moluccas, New Guinea, eastern areas of Indonesia, Chinese minorities, etc. But Sukarno hated the Dutch so much that he wanted an Indonesia that included the size of the Dutch East Indies. Incidentally, the plan would be that Dutch New Guinea would become the new country for the exiled Indos, European diaspora and Moluccans because the Netherlands did not want these population groups at first. Ultimately, between 1950 and 1964, some 350,000 people migrated to the Netherlands, the majority being Indos (mixed races), Moluccans, Chinese and others. Currently, there are almost 2 million people of Indonesian descent living in the Netherlands, including the Surinamese Javanese community.
you should more close to Indonesia than Thailand and stay longer here because this is country where your mom was born and came from. explore more this huge Indonesia (even it's near Thailand where you stay now).
@Chai_Travel yes you are right that many islands were colonized by the dutch, but once again 300 years is a hyperbole... popularized by Sukarno, a Javanese who wanted other islands to feel the same fate so as to create the reality of Indonesianness... but once again 300 years is a big mistake... on other islands there is a big sentiment in this matter, the result of the dogmatization of 300 years of colonization is the inferiority complex that exists on the island of Java.... the dutch colonization of sumatra as a whole and kalimantan only happened in the 20th century, no more than 40 years. maybe you are half-Dutch and half-American.... but don't equate everything.... the narrative of 300 years of colonization throughout Indonesia is a great disgrace, for other regions that were never colonized for that long
thanks for sharing. i'm from uruguay and i really want to know indonesia
