The TER 200 is a brand of SNCF for the regional train connection between Basel and Strasbourg. TER is the abbreviation for Train Express Régional, which is the basic designation for regional trains in France. There is no difference between trains which stop at any station and trains which only serve the larger stops. One example for TER trains, that only stop at major stations is the TER 200. In between it reaches a maximum speed of - as you can tell by the name - 200 km/h.
In service as TER 200 are electric locomotives of Class BB 26000, pulling ore pushing up to nine Corail carriages. One of these carriages, the one on the other end, is a cabcar.
The railway is allowed for 200 km/h between Basel and Mulhouse, between Mulhouse and Strasbourg even for 220 km/h. Besides regional trains this railway is often used by international TGV high speed trains.
