Try to remember something funny and laugh at that.
Funny story, this one time I had a friend who would make unfunny jokes and I wouldn't laugh. He thought I was being uptight.
One day, he makes a joke and I tried to fake laugh in order to be polite. It was a pathetic attempt and came out very faint but he interpreted it as if I actually wanted to laugh but I was trying to hide it in order to be uptight, so he scolded me about that! Obviously, I didn't tell him the truth.
It was better if he thought I was feeling like laughing but was trying to hold it back, rather than me not actually wanting to laugh but trying to force myself to in order to make him feel better.

yeah thats a good one which i do myself but didnt think to include in the video, thanks..... and yeah a fake laugh is likely to have negative consequences as its going to be hard to be convincing & most of the time someone fake laughs its to be mean to someone

@@SocialShortcuts Yes, he said "ahh you see? You want to laugh but you're trying to hide it." and I was like "yeah.. you're right."
It was hilarious. If only his jokes were as funny as the whole situation.

@@jackwalters3928 why did you say you’re trying to hide it? Isn’t that worse like you described?

@@SocialShortcuts He misinterpreted my fake laugh as me laughing for real but trying to hide it, because he thought the reason I wasn't laughing at his jokes was because I was being uptight.
The reality was that I just couldn't laugh at his jokes, so I fake laughed to make him feel better.
So it's better that I hid the truth because it made him feel better. It made him think I was actually finding him funny but attempting to not laugh, rather than the truth which was that I wasn't finding him funny but forcing myself to laugh.

@@jackwalters3928 oh ok I see. Yeah like I said in the video if you want whoever you’re with to have a more positive experience but your threshold to laugh at stuff is very high try adding to their joke or giving a positive comment on it
