Dear graduating class of 2020,
You might not be having your typical graduation this year, you might not be walking across a stage and grabbing that diploma, you might not be throwing your hats up in the air, or taking pictures with family and friends.
But you’re still graduating. You are still a part of the global family of students, millions of students just like you who are wrapping up a chapter in life and starting a new one. And your hard work has NOT gone unnoticed. Your dedication, determination, and commitment still remain true.
The quiet hours you spent studying in the library, the relentless loss of sleep as you pulled all-nighters to finish your assignments, your unforgettable field trips and time spent with friends. The endless bargaining for lunch money, your arguments in gym class and the tears you shed after handing in that terrifying test.
Dear graduating class of 2020, your hard work has NOT gone unnoticed.
Right now, you might feel uncertain. You might feel lost and upset but mark these words “COVID-19 isn’t going to stand in the way of your hopes and dreams.” Things will improve and as they do, you will too.
So, as graduation peeks around the corner I’m encouraging you to focus on the good times. I’m encouraging you to focus on your accomplishments. I’m encouraging you to make the zoom calls and still celebrate with friends because two months will not ruin your entire education.
Dear graduating class of 2020,
It has been said that you are a collection of your past experiences, therefore all your experiences throughout school made you who you are today. And just because things are a little bit different this year, doesn’t mean the memories that you made will ever fade away.
You see, graduation isn’t defined by a sheet a paper, a stage or a hat. Graduation is defined by your courage. Your courage to move forward in your life. Your courage to take the next step.
So, what does graduation mean to you? Because the meaning isn’t gone…
Is it the start of your dream job?
The beginning of another 10 years of education?
The birth of a new idea, company or social movement?
Or the start of an entirely new life?
Dear graduating class of 2020, whatever graduation means to you, I believe in you. Don’t lose your belief in yourself. Your future is promising, and your hard work has NOT and NEVER will go unnoticed.
Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
Now go! Celebrate, and use your gifts and talents in the world to make the impossible, possible!

this hit on so many levels. this was awesome! Class of 2020 we did it! but think about it, this situation is going to be learned by future students, we're currently living and making history as we speak. you all did it. the endless nights, the countless hours, and all the ups and downs you've endured to get where you are. so be proud. go outside, shout at the top of your lungs, tell the world what you've done, and what you've accomplished despite life having gone against you. let the world know you won't allow life to get the best of you. you'll all do amazing things in life. it'll be a rough journey but it's just like high school. each moment unsure and unpredictable, so just do what you've always done. ride the waves and see where the future will bring you!

I remember when I first saw this video it was in the peak of Covid in Canada and I was supposed to have my high school graduation. This video helped me feel heard and hurt less. I had struggled through school my whole life academically so grad was a huge thing for me and my family. I remember crying at the loss of my grad. Wishing more than anything I could have that special moment that is always talked about. 4 years later and I am now about to graduate from University… My university Graduation means so much more to me after covid. To me its two graduations in one.

Man im from the class of 2021 and I just hope I can have at least a semi-decent senior year. We are going back to school right now but most events are canceled including prom,dances, sporting events, etc. Just hope it will all get better soon. To all the fellow graduates of 2021, just know you aren't alone.
