I'll stick with my Snap-on BP-1 that has worked flawlessly for more years than I can remember and is the one all others are bench marked against. The "C" frame is what counts and anyone that has been around one that explodes will buy the BP-1 and looking at the Matco "C" frame there is a difference. It's not competition until it proves itself!!

Harbor Freight, now has the Icon ball joint press which is like the snap on but ball bearing retainers like the matco for only $200. It includes all the adapters that snap on doesn't include. An HF employee said snap on sells icon with it's name on it.

Should've commented when I first watched the video; I don't know if many people will see this now. Do you have a recommendation on a little more economical press? I have an 05 ram dually and I want something that is big enough to replace the u joints with adapters and everything. I borrowed one from o'Reilly's to do it (kind of a quick fix after one blew out) and it had enough space in the throat to reach around the u joint without the adapter cup in, but with it in place wouldn't fit around it. Unfortunately $800 tools are a little unrealistic for me at the moment, but I'm saving quite a bit by doing it myself instead of taking it to a shop, so I don't mind at all spending a hundred bucks or whatever for the right tool.

I looked at your Amazon store list thing, and both of the ones in that still only have a 6 inch inner dimension throat, which isn't enough when using adapters. Do you recommend the 78100 XL C frame? If that's my best option, would you get just a set of adapters like the 7868, or a full set like the 7897 for another press as well?

Let's see, more money for a slave-labor tool, versus less money for an American made, heavier duty tool. I think I'd rather have an occasional cup knocked off and not support slavery.
That retention system does look better, but it also takes up more space and the whole tool needs to be bigger to make up for that, which means it will be even more difficult to fit in tight spots and I don't even know how the usable throat capacity compares.
