Nice to see the Snowzilla in action. That's the power of an old school 16hp single cylinder cast iron engine. That was one of the big boys in those days. These days that machine would come with a 26hp and probably wouldn't push snow any better. Nice to see the wax trick, instead of sprays. Thx Taryl and crew!
I love those old ariens gt tractors. I'd love to find a decent one but they weren't that common around me. Tons of scrub cadets and dear johns but I only knew of one when i was growing up. I remember staring at the literature when i was a kid thinking they looked like a big Case tractor.
@@lencranston8183 MORE!! Yessir. I run a 74 Wheelhorse C160 that weighs over 1300 lbs for snow duty. You can have all the power in the world but it MUST be stuck to the ground to plow.
Snowzilla - she's a good ole girl. Thanks for sharing. If chains aren't in the offing how about having the Human Shop Rag (Elk Skins) do the plowing? A little more weight on the back in may help keep the tires from spinning. Just say'n.....
I'm rocking a 1979 JD 300 my self. With the 4ft blower. My starter craped out so I got a 5FT plow for my quad while I waited for the new starter. It took 3 times longer then my old 2wd Hydrostatic trans. JD. Nice to old beast still running

Yeah we used this trick on the old sleds with the metal skis that have the wooden steer handles and on toboggans . Crap I just showed my age. I never did think to try it on my plow. Thanks for reminding me.
You keep practicing it works good. And chains and weight to the back . Change the plow to tractor angle so a full blade lifts the front to transfer weight .
3:43 how the heck is there a Yuengling truck in Indiana? I use to live where that swill was brewed in Pennsylvania. I apologize to all Midwestern folk for that beer
The differential was doing it's thing and getting you stuck. Since you don't use it for mowing anymore, I would consider welding up the differential, turning it into a solid axle like an ATV.
Weight box in the back with 20 old brake rotors from a junkyard if no wheel weights works on my Bolens QT, but its already heavier than that Ariens plus having an Onan "bullet proof twin" pushes that much snow at an idle.Just sayin Taryl!!!
I've used a propane weed torch to melt the snow & ice. No moving parts and much quicker, lighter, cheaper and easier. And bbq LPG tanks are available just about everywhere.
@@NoWr2Run I sit my bbq tank on an appliance hand cart and pull it behind me. It's just too easy. After you do this even once you'll wonder why everyone is making such an easy task into a major chore. After I melt everything I toss on some sand and I'm done. My neighbor sprinkles kitty litter but I'm too lazy (cheap) to buy it.
I got 1992 John deere gt262 with a 17hp Kawasaki motor and the 6 speed gear transmission. It's been beat it's whole life and just won't quit. It's a little rough but it gets the job done. It's a beast. Most of the plastic body parts didn't survive. But I keep up on motor and transmission maintenance. It still runs good but it's a little ugly. Lol
Nice machine Taryl. May I suggest you put in a two cylinder engine in Snowzilla. A good Wisconsin bailer engine would do the trick. That is what I did with mine. The tractor just flies through snow. Using the wax trick works really well, I also use heavy duty teflon spray for molds. That works and stays on just about as good as the wax you use. Nice work and peace to you my TH-cam small engine mechanic. Stay plowing too.
I'm not sure which machine actually cleaned the yard. The Toro blower, the old truck or that lil Snowzilla. However, I know that my new Ariens Deluxe 28 Rapidtrak would have loved the battle. Impressive machine, especially after battling with an old Snapper with no diff for 20 yrs.
You push snow. I sprayed weeds today (out of control thistle & spreading like wildfire). I'd gladly trade places for a month. You take care of my lawn & I'll take care of your snow removal.....all the while ENJOYING that cold weather & the beautiful snow.
I just plow mine from the outside to the center peeling off little bits until the blade gets full. Then off she goes across the road or to a storage spot that does not drift your driveway deeper later on. I'm with Taryl on the ATV tires. You just do not need chains with them. especially with a Wheel Horse limited slip transmission
Spray some turtle wax seal n shine or any spray wax for the best in snow and ice repellent. I put it on my shovels and snow machine! Now There’s your breakfast. Snow cats meow
Nice Hydraulic tractor there taryl! I had a gt17 that had the KT17 from factory & got a M18 engine in it. The tractor's engine needed to come out for a starter & coil. Anyways a lot of stuff was bad so I ended up trading it, the rear tiller, & 48" deck for a 212 w a decent Kohler & another tractor. I kept the M18 that came out of it, & got a craftsman GT that had the same engine that was blown, with a good starter & coil, swapped them over & I think I have a good engine, haven't gotten it to run, but it's nice having one for when I need one since I got it for pretty much nothing. I was hopping it could find a decent Hydrotractor, but its hard to find a good one around these parts because when you do find them they either have a bad engine or are pretty gnarly. Got a 67 110RF, 82 212, 73 St16 sears, & a 83 216.
@@jeffreydevoti7000, I guess the ones up north might get used more year-round for snow while down here in texas we might use them half as much, & sometimes don't get used all winter. Usually, the hydrostat tractor gets used more than the stick tractors I guess for ease of use.
Hey Taryl, I got ya beat! I've got a 1974 Dynamark 8/36 going strong at almost 50 years old as a backup mower. They definitely don't build them like they used to.😂

I used to help my dad wax the shovels, cleaned them first, heated them enough to melt the wax, then flowed the wax on. I have to be honest, I clean them and spray with silicone. Besides, the canning wax has gone way up in price, used to be cheap as dirt.
I am always telling customers about fuel going bad, but I allow my equipment at home to be neglected and I have to stop and clean my own carbs that have gotten dirty.
Wheel weights n chains or lock that axle mr dactal that’s what works for me. I’m liking those high traction front tires! Won’t slide sideways like mine do when my blade is angled. Grassrats forever! It moves through the snow with a bad ass sound as it eats the biggest snow drift down go go snowzilla yeah yeah yeah! Go go snowzilla yeah yeah yeah! ;p
The wax works good but I use spray silicone on my snow blades on my old model Gravely walk behind machines and riding garden tractors and John Deere garden tractors and it seems to work the best for keeping the snow from sticking to the scraper blades
Probably some K100 got in that carb and gumed it up! Snowzilla needs some chains and a welded diff, maybe a big motor. Slippers can do it, he has nothing better to do
I use to do the same thing with a 77' simplicity, only with tire chains, good memories, know I sit IN a plow truck,,,God bless "snowzilla".
