Quite a funny video. You may be right, but it seems slightly unlikely.
These did come to the UK, but few were sold. Many sat on dealerships, which might explain why this is an '84 registered in '86.
It is slightly cheeky to mention it in the same sentence as the RC30 and the CB1100R. It wasn't an homologation special and it was built in quite large numbers. And... There were faster ways to move and stop a 1000cc motorcycle. These are magnificent and noisy beasts, but do not overhype them by suggesting they are refugees from success on the track.... Few ever went near a track. And of those that did, few prospered.
I had a v45 1985 Magna, but I always wanted this bike.....the vfr1000 will always be my favorite of all time!
I owned a early vin vf1000r around 10yrs ago and I miss that bike so much bought it non running but next to perfect body work 13k miles it and a 98 vtr1000 are the two bike I wish I still had.. I will eventually get another vtr but I don’t see a clean vf1000r coming into my budget anytime soon
Fortunate enough to have owned two homologation VF1000R's in NZ
First was in the mid to late 80's which I raced and got clocked down the back straight of Wigram circuit at 265km/hr
And the second "ThouR" was in the mid 2000's
Great bike but it had its quirks with the 16 inch front wheel
Many memories (and embarrassed young riders) when they thought the ThouR was a relic
Lovely bike but it wasn’t built in small numbers for homologation in any racing category of the time unlike the CB1100R (Castrol 6hr production race) and RC30 (WSBK). It was more a flagship model for Honda to showcase its technological prowess. Still, it’s quite collectible.
This was my dream bike back in 1985, but couldn't afford it.
Same here.
Still can't
There’s one a state over from me for $1500 in pieces, needing tlc… sooooo tempting
It wasn't an homologation special ......but a Lovely bike
