One of the things often overlooked in these reviews as the driver comfort for tall people. I'm a big guy, well over 6ft tall. The x-trail was the ONLY 4x4 I tested which didn't have me sitting with my knees in my armpits. I couldn't even get behind the wheel of an X5 or Toyota Fortuna, the driver space was so limited. I bought the x-trail and I am still very happy with the comfort. Can even wear a hat while driving. No way I could do that in a CR-V or Hyundai ix35.
We bought an used T31 4x4 2007 for my wife when she was pregnant. Now my daughter is 13 and I still love this car. This summer the engine broke (damned Renault engine) and I decided to put a new motor on and make this car my road trip car because the driving is really pleasant on road and off road too. You have also a lot of space in it. My wife has a new car of course but I can see she regrets a little bit this wonderful T31. I think that this T31 is the best version of the X-Trail because when Nissan decided to do it, they asked to the prospect and Nissan T30 owners what they imagined for its remplacer and they said they would like a « real » 4x4, with off road capabilities and a look corresponding to it. That’s why this T31 is great because he is not a SUV like the T32 and the new one.
These 2.0 litre dCi REnault engines have proven to be incredibly reliable with many people getting moonshot mileages out of them. How did you break the engine??
Sadly Nissan has ruined the latest X-Trail by making it a sort of elongated version of the Qashqai. According to a dealer it isn't selling as well as this model.
I agree.. i have the first gen. Its really good off and on road. Driving off road in the country side, i never hit its under side of its front bumper when im traversing a rough terrain. its more of an SUV than a crossover. Unlike the new one, the front bumper will definitely will hit the ground unless you some modification. I love mine its really good for out door activities.
2 months using it and I am very satisfy with it. Lot power and torque. steeringwheel is very accurate and the back space is the best you can get on this class.great suv.
Two things: 1. She's stunning and makes amazing reviews!! 2. Are these videos specifically for the UK? If not, it would be great if they made reviews of the petrol versions of all these SUVs as well... out of Europe petrol engines are much more common than diesel...
I have an xtrail classic 2012, and it's awesome. For me the biggest problem is engine/suspension rubbers. I do rough my van up a bit, so engine mounts and rubbers need to be changed fairly often, but they're cheap and quick to change. The van is going on 8 years now and no engine, transmission or major suspension issues.
I can't believe people are still complaining about Rebecca's reviews At this point it's definitely just hate for the sake of it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this review.
I like how she reviewed this car in a new place! Not the same old country road.. Oh, and she provided useful info on depreciation. Don't overlook that! Rebecca is a car dealer by the way, so she knows quite a bit about cars.
i watched this video not long ago, and last week i accidentally rented an X-trail during my trip to australia. its the 2.5L 4WD with CVT transmission. it's a very good car.
crap@@PorkysnewTeeth could only make like 310kms per tank I sold it and now I have a 2023 tucson turbo. the xtrail was fun tho. excelent strong car with lots of space
She is tiny though, and she meant against the competition. The competition also don't have that old fashioned boxy design so I'd expect the X-Trail to have a lot more leg room than that.
They could've put extra 2 seats where those boot drawers were, then I would definitely acquire one. Considering they have done well with their Infinity trademark, for a company that created the GTR supercar...why did they create the worst designs with Juke and Qasqai? God knows...Nissan let themselves down with these little but important factors.
I actually own an xtrail exactly like the one you showed and I regret my purchase, it was nice at first but then reliability problems started to show. All important pieces started to get worn out really fast and had to replace them just 3 years after I purchased it.
It is a fantastic car that is much more comfortable than the Honda CR V. and have less noise a Toyota rav 4 and we have a 170 horsepower manual transmission and ceiling light formulas Thank line as it is called, and we have towed 2.2 tonne anything and everything it is a nice car and drive and site in and it is also a great car to use in town and on country roads
Thanks for your review. Helps me to decide to buy a petrol version X-Trail, wich can develope more power than the diesel one and excelent manubrability, I'm very happy with it.
Nice, informative review- but can we please see a Big Fat Rugby Forward (with size 13's) get in- then enagage the 4wd system and drive in the mud/snow....?
I am getting this car later this month or early may. Really exited about it. They are a long car when you drive them, but they do the job. I need it to pull my horse float and it is a good price. Im getting a 2012 brand new model.
This indeed feels more like a sales rep trying to sell the car to you, than a review. I mean, where are the disadvantages? Where is the section about road handling? A hugely practical car with so few places to store things in the back and just a mere mention? This review is seriously substandard to regular CarBuyer reviews.
Had a 2013 X-trail, very cheap build quality. Practical for sure but cheap and flimsy cabin and interior. The footwell for the rear passengers has no floor its just carprt that streches when you stand on it. Disconcerting when it's aimed for off road usage..,
from my own experience, you are going to love the car if you like the way it looks in the video, however many find it unsuitable from the design point of view + great reliability, huge trunk, never breaks down, good mpg, nice off road capabilities, comfy for long journey - space in back seats (I am 6'4 and my head touches the roof, but I mostly drive it and in front it's alright, note that roofwindow reduces the head space by approximately 2cm), in manual gearbox the clutch is hard to get used to (still would recommend it more than automatic)
It is definitely better than RAV4, and about the maintanance, nothing I can really say, the car has been working just fine for 5-6 years now. Also, I have been driving in different cars now, and what I noticed is that the engine is a little bit louder than competition (we got the 180bhp diesel, manual). No biggie though ;)
Michal Jurík thanks for the info , I always had the confusion between Rav4 CRV and XTrail. I like the optional 4x4 in xtrail whereas the rest are just AWD. Honda ruled out because no diesel variant. Btw how is the space at the back ? I hear people claim it's not big enough though the video shows very roomy. May I know which year model you are having ? Sorry for too many questions :)
No worries, I am glad to help. Of the three you mentioned (CRV, RAV4 and Xtrail), the Nissan is undoubtely the roomiest- tallest and widest. We have the 2007 model, but now there is the new Xtrail; don't know about that one. I sat in all of them, and in my opinion, the CRV is just too small- more like Qashqai. Off-road capabilities are as well better on the Nissan- higher ground clearance and great 4x4. Regarding the space in the back, none of these are very spacious- I am really tall (just got new car- Skoda Superb, which has tons of space all around). Xtrail is alright in the back regarding leg room, the head room is not so good for tall people. Cannot say about the other ones; the older Rav4 was a little bit better regarding head space in the back. Once again, new the Xtrail might be better in all of these fields. Would be my choice no doubt!
Michal Jurík I got the 2010 model which is this generation. I now regret buying it since the new generation looks more exciting. I don't know why they don't offer rear AC in my region (Middle East) where it is highly needed!! Yet the video shows that they do provide Rear AC vents in europe. That sucks.
+Shem Mac yeah man it bigger by a long shot. One of these was in a car yard next to a Landrover Discovery, a Prado a vitara and Escape and a Freelander and an Outlander and it was bigger and better layed out by far which is why I want one of these SUV's.
Yet another video where you gloss over the boot and don't show the seats folding down. In an SUV that's like reviewing a sports car and not mentioning the performance. Useless
Why you guys always argue about who is reviewing rather than talking about the car they review? So anyone has one? I have been quite interested of this X-Trail (also older and used versions), it seems pretty good package in terms of offroading and still able to drive on the road and city traffic.

+Ahmad Shumayal I think the older models may have because they were an ugly duckling. Mitsubishi Outlanders depreciate really quickly.
@NathanaelsFilms Just the other day I saw one of these on the street... well, an older model. I was a little surprised, because I didn't think Nissan sold it in the U.S. ... might have been someone who moved Stateside from Canada. It had Massachusetts plates IIRC.
I had X-trail older version t30. Nice car but quite expensive in drive. Gasoline version burnt a masive petrol liters in the city and not less i the highways.
Anyone that has one have any tips for me. Mine is a 2.2 dci Diesel it keeps randomly dying when driving and is hard to keep it going when it's cold ???
