----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, the Masterpiuma comes in a variety of sizes. We wanted the 25"x25" because it can cut 12"x24" tiles.
This could eliminate the use of a wet tile saw, which is a time saver.
Also the Masterpiuma can cut glass tiles with the use of the Mosakit rubber mat. The mat prevents glass tiles from slipping and the white paint from chipping.
We tested the cutting capability of this tile cutter and showed how it can cut a 1/4" slice off 2"x2" tiles as well as a 1/2" cut off 12" tiles.
It easily makes 45 degree cuts in tile.
Watch our video for the details.
Our business has had the 36" version for just over a year now.... Hasn't failed us yet. I've been doing tile for 17 years and my son/partner learned how to use this quickly.
Montolit did a great job with this tile cutter.
Good video.
I’ve owned mine for 12 yrs now I’ve upgraded the handle from the original blue adjustable handle and pan springs 4years ago. Hands down it’s the Cadillac of cutters although you’ll always get the Sigma humpers who just can’t convert to a push handle instead of the pull. My personal favourite piece of this outstanding cutter is the blade. Made of titanium this blade never need to be changed. Bought a new blade in the first year and after using it there was no difference. To this day I still am on my first blade “crazy right”
Would like to point out 1 tip on carrying it always place the handle up to the red rubber stopper before turning in the measurement arm, this locks it in place for carrying it.
Got my montolit few days ago...I love it .cheers for video....very informative
Hello
I work with rubi .but now i have to jump towords montolito master puma . This is best for professionals. Thanks for video.
Thanks. You taught me something new. A reverse 45 degree cut. I have a masterpiuma but didn't know that option was there.
Checked prices, this is definitely a great buy for contractors. For DIY guys like myself it’s out of my budget. Great tool nonetheless 👍🏾👍🏾
Wonderful walkthrough of the Montolit cutter!
Great vid, Jeff, especially the glass tile. I will be doing my kitchen backsplash in glass and might invest in this cutter.
It’s a good investment if you’re doing more tile work. Thanks for the kind words.
Currently the best tilecutter on the planet . 25 year experience installing tile
Thanks Richard for your comments, means a lot to hear it from you. We are very impressed with this tile cutter. And the construction is top notch. Can’t believe it’s made from metal! Everything these days is plastic
Better than sigma?? Our Sigmas are our go to but we have a couple rubis as well.
Masterpiuma is the best tile cutter out there!! I like because the push system.
Very impressed with how little pressure is needed to cut score that tile!!
I just got same size an love it. Makes cutting tile much faster than with my MK 101. The con is you use oil on side feed like built to do ,tile shavings build around the cutting wheel an its not very smooth over time. It is a great cutter an would tell anyone to get one you will love it
Price
The oil is only for textured tile...shouldnt have to use it for any other tile.
Just went from rubi to sigma kinda think I’ve jumped the gun after seeing this demo. It looks very similar to the sigma but more well thought out.
Great demo 👍
It's definitely a great cutter, we've been very happy with the performance
Sigmas better bro
Great video, we love our Montolit cutter also!
Sweet, thanks
Tile installers here, love that cutter too was using rubi but out of curiosity i bought one and man it shoure is better with that hard porcelain crosvill tile
Thats the bomb!!! Great Tool!
I have had my cutter about 6 months and use it almost everyday. I do oil my cut wheel with a shot off wd40 once every time I use it.
I bought a hand held tile scorer and cutter from some English guy at a home show over 20 years ago for around $40, and still use it for all of my tile cutting needs today. Incredible tool that can easily do circles, patterns, squiggly lines, whatever you want from ceramic to glass and marble. Unfortunately I have no idea who he is (or was), but the guy should be given something like a Nobel prize from the DIY homeowners of the world!
Whats the tool called
Hello and thank you for the video, I used mine for the 1st time today. It does cut nice but I do feel that that the 45 deg is off on mine. I ended up cutting a few wrong that I noticed did not fit. I had to re adjust the 45 angle. one thing the company should look into is giving you a notch in the machine that as you turn the machine to a 45 it would hit the notch and your set.
I noticed you are using the mat, can you send me a link for that please. I thank you
totally agree, we'd like to see Montolit add detents like on a miter saw, that would be a good upgrade. Here's an Amazon link for the Mosakit pad, it's great for glass tiles and a must have to maintain the paint
@@HomeRepairTutor I don't see the link?
found it, thank you
@@one1wizard sorry about that, here it is amzn.to/2o0VOpo
Manual tile cutters are the best by far. I have a 48 x 48.
I have a sentinel 40in and having problem with the cuts not sure if the blade made a difference on that? Any suggestions
if you’ve been using the same blade I’d get a new one and see how that works before switching snappers
Does that cut hard 12x24 porcelain tiles? Tiles that are 0.5 inch thick and hard as hell. Thanks
we’ve used it on tiles like that and it’s done very well
@@HomeRepairTutor, awesome! Thanks for the reply. This tile that I'm installing is very glossy and hard and the rubi cutter that I usually use can't get the job done. I think I need to upgrade asap.
You should try Tomecanic cutters
Are the cuts clean and smooth for a polished finished appearance?
My thoughts? Why did you edit that 45° cut so we couldnt see the corners? Are you catering to the manufacturer by not showing the broken tips??
Exactly. The bottom piece next to the wall looks to have the point broke off.
Hey everyone
I got this tile cutter, and for some reason, I can't get it to cut ceramic any suggestions
I have a Sigma push cutter,FLAWLESS! This Montolit looks great though, dont think I would ever use a pull cutter again
I’m a Sigma guy. But I won’t lie, I saw this at my local distributor and it caught my attention. Has some weight to it, which I like. I think I just may grab one, based on your very informative review. Thx!
What impressed me was how it’s made from all metal. Very solid construction. They’re not cheap, but this is a cutter you’ll have for decades.
I just did my 2nd Tile backsplash job with a skil wet saw, I am looking to get a tile cutter, is the one for me?
I'm tile setter for 20 years and use Ishii tile cutters and are very good , I really like this tile cutter I think I'm going to buy the 63P3 at amazon for $489 CAN , I find that the Sigma pull tile cutters are horrible ,very hard on the wrist, I don't like using them. Push tile cutters are nicer to use , easier on the wrist and arms.
Have yo tried the montolit yet? I'd love to hear how it compares to the Ishii, my current cutter.
I have not , If I have a chance to use one or purchase it I will let you know what I think about it.
What about ability to cut thick big tiles?
it depends on the thickness
What size do you all suggest for a home owner because they have so many sizes
Would this tile cutter be effective for making cuts/miters in my matching bullnose subway tile? Trying to avoid messing with a wet saw if I can. Thanks!
you could cut the tile with this cutter then use a grinder to miter the edge using a Diamond blade
Is this sutiable for granite tiles 1cm thick?
Are those blue pieces near the carbide wheel plastic?
and a piece of carpet pad works pretty good for mosaic and glass
Are the cuts clean enough to be in visible locations or they primarily cuts that need to be done for tiles that are getting covered by baseboard or for instance a towel on an inside corner that's going to get covered up by the edge of another tile. Can you achieve wet saw quality, or better cuts with this cutter on most tile?
i feel like id rather have the sigma but the monolit looks really nice
I needed a saw to cut stone tiles for a backsplash. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I thought for sure I was going to need to buy a "better" blade than the one that came with this machine. I was surprised to see that blade worked great. Buying this saw was cheaper than renting and allowed me to take my time on the project. I wrapped the tiles (front and back) with blue painters tape and drew my cut lines with a sharpie on the tape. I performed all of my cuts free hand and had no trouble cutting the tile straight. There is a guide you can use to help with cuts if you prefer. This was my first tile job and this saw made it easy.
Would this cutter work on 1" marble tile on mesh backing? Trying to find some way to cut this tile that will butt up against the tub, but not finding a lot of answers. Help!
Personally I’d use a wet saw with a solid rim for that.
You cant cut marble with a manual tile cutter, especially mesh backs. If there is mesh, that means it has a lot of veins and that equates to weak spots in the stone. Any natural stone, marble, etc has to be cut with a wet saw or with a angle grinder with a water attachment .
rented this cutter, had troubles zeroing it to get a straight cut. wanted to cut 12x24 into 6x24. h Had to bail out that idea and stick with 12x24.
It takes some practice to get the feel of the Masterpiuma or any cutter for that matter. But we continue to like it more than our old one. Hopefully they had a good cutting wheel on that rental
think its good, still have it. no troubles with cuts. is it normal to get a wave under the cut? i'm finding a grinder is needed to smooth out some spots, havent grouted yet, but was worried the waves would still show through the grout.
Not sure what you mean by wave. Quality of cut also depends on the tile. As long as the face of the tile is straight it should be fine.
k thanks, yeah its a thick porcelain, the face looks good.
shouldnt need any practice to set it to 0 degrees. stopper should stop it there. Maybe the one I used was detective.
Can you rotate the handle like a sigma has it?
Thanks for your vids! I am debating between the Ishii Big Clinker or shelling out the funds for the Masterpiuma. Does the Ishii cut heavily textured porcelain well all the way to the end?? My Qep always cracks a slight curve at the far end 😖. Time for a higher end cutter. I’m not a pro , just a diy but want one that can make consistent full straight cuts up to 24” on hard textured porcelain.
quality of cuts also depends on tile but the Masterpiuma is our preferred cutter. Ishii makes good tools as well and their cutting wheels work very well. If you’re tiling occasionally we’d opt for the Ishii. If you’re doing a lot of tile work then go with the Masterpiuma. Either way, you can sell the cutter on Facebook and recoup a lot of your money.
Thank you! I think I just may buy once cry once and get this Montolit! I am on the fence! Any Christmas or Holiday deals coming up to push me to take the plunge right now?? 😜
Can this saw do a U cut?
Thats amazing tools.. I need that..
Sir i want to buy this cutter in pakistan plese gaide me how amd were could i get it thanks
Great job
Thanks Andre
What brand for this tile cutter
Amigo como lo consigo ,soy de Perú,gracias
Hey, nice tutorial. I want to make cuts at 36, 72, and 108 degrees to do Penrose Tiling. Can this rig handle it? Thanks.
Can you put a link where I can purchase the multipurpose table for cutting tiles and this tile cutter. Plz.
Thanks Aleem, here's the link for the Masterpiuma bit.ly/2we5rT9 and this is the work table bit.ly/2OZ09l7, let me know where you're located as we do have free shipping in the continental US
Tried a 47m model. Clearly a serious bit of kit but hopeless on the textured tiles I had. Although the cutter was massive (to cut up to 62cm square), it had an oddly small cuttling wheel (8mm i think) which wouldn’t score cleanly due to the tile texture. Apparently they are porcelain glaze and ceramic underneath. I also needed to cut lengthways. Not a hope. Even tried scoring multiple times, shattered into several pieces. Tile shop now say i need a wet saw. So if you’re starting out on tiling like me, worth checking beforehand as the how to videos with these cutters make it look easier than it sometimes is.
.
Can this cut glass tile too!!!
Yes, you just need the rubber mat that goes with it
yes
My suggestion, decide which size you want....and buy the next size up lol, I got the 29 thinking there's no way I'd need one any bigger, now I have a customer that wants 36" wood look plank in a shower!!!
Lol, totally understand where you’re coming from. These tiles just get bigger and bigger. How do you like your Masterpiuma?
Home Repair Tutor absolutely love it, their are only a few tiles I've run across that can not be cut on it, but they were EXTREMELY rough textured weathered wood look planks.....no matter what I did it would not score consistent and so the snap would always run off crooked. Other than that....I can't belive I messed around with that plastic thing I got from the big box store for so long! Lol
Same here I have one the can cut 24 then I bought one the can cut up to 48 but now there is 54 " and 72" tiles not fun
I got the 36”. My feeling is, if a client picks a 48” tile, they can buy me the bigger saw.
LOL.. Right on brother! I would do the same!
I just got the kristal giga cut from contractors direct. Similar design and build quality as the masteriuma for less $. Really nice cutter. Only those who have used both would know how they compare.
Thanks Kevr for letting us know, which model did you get? We're not familiar with that brand, appreciate the heads up
Home Repair Tutor I got the giga cut with laser. Worked really well, the tile had a glossy glaze on it so I had to score 2x when cutting the full 24” length in order to get a clean break.
I had no idea things like that exist
Montolit makes a bunch of great tools.
how much?
My daughter wants to install a back splash around her counter tops. I am really worried about how she was going to do it and thought she needed to rent a diamond cutter. Is this a tool that you can rent? She will only need to use it once.
You could probably find one at a rental place. This is a great cutter for a backsplash. She might also need an angle grinder with a diamond blade but only if there are some special cuts.
I just thought of something else. She has an electrical outlet on this wall. Will this cutter be able to cut a rectangle for the outlet? Thanks.
Great tool but definitely priced for the professional!
Jeff, as this video is two years old is this still your recommendation?
thanks for asking, yes, we still love this cutter and recommend it 👍🏼
how much is this tile cutter?
Luv it amazing machine
What is the name/where did you purchase the tile that is installed on the floor in this video?
Is this cutter serviceable? I do work my machines hard and I have a tendency of pulling to the left when im scoring the tile (if that makes sense!) Over time the handles on my machines get a bit of play on the bar and subsequently tile does not score accurately point to point. The machines I use are not serviceable as the bearings are in a ball race that I cant replace. Always seems a shame to throw away long cutters when all that's needed is new bearings fitted.
You can buy parts for this cutter. Contractors Direct has a section for that. We've had our 36" cutter for just over a year and the only thing we've needed to replace was the cutting wheel. Also a ruler extension arm that was broken when my partner/son dropped it. I really think you'll be pleased with this cutter
I follow you on instagram as well. You're the best
thank you, appreciate your support 👍🏼
Do you know Kaufman cutter? And what do you think about Rubi Tx cutters?
Good questions Pawel, I’m not familiar with either. We use mostly Montolit
Say your videos are amazing, do you know of a way to make a door sweeper, to block out the cool air, it's cold here and it got my mom very sick.
Thanks, this might help

Home Repair Tutor thanks for the fast response.
Happy to help
Can you cut a granite tile with this tool?
I bought one of these and it didn't work like you guys say. so I had to go buy a sigma and that's the best one.
every cutter has a learning curve, this one included. We use this cutter exclusively and love it to this day
verry nice
Where do I buy one
Thanks Caleb, you can find the Masterpiuma here
shop.bathroomrepairtutor.com/collections/montolit-fan-store/products/25-montolit-tile-cutter
Small thin tiles yes, thicker ones it doesn’t cut good. I had it and returned it. I bought a Sigma and it cut way better.
Good stuff
Thanks Chupalia
Awesome
I wanna see this one head to head with the sigma. I just purchased 2 sigmas a 26” and a 49”. The sigma max series looks very similar. I know this brand has an Oiler also and the arm also that flips up both nice features.
Nice
I Bought In Home Depot

48” Big Long And A Good Brand,
After The 20 Dollars Wheel From

Amén.
Huffa !!!! Just try...the mouse fine cut ! 98% perfect! I use all the models...but Huffa it different! It a german marked.
Nice.
👍
can you rent those?
It’s possible, you’d have to call around to rental places. Well worth it
I think the rubi cuts tile better and and also can pull of cuts the monolit cant
Top 2 Italy brand: Ferrari and Monolit :)
quarry tile?
This saw is fantastic in my opinion. Had a Rubi, wasn’t impressed. Exchanged it for this beast. To save yourself some money, don’t buy that overpriced rubber pad to cut mosaics. I used shelf liner. The pad doesn’t help with chipping of the white paint on the back of the tile. The snapping of the cutter prevents this from happening. The pad keeps the mosaic from sliding. The shelf liner prevents this for a fraction of the cost. Give it a try and thank me later. The snap cutter is $700+. More then my DeWalt wet saw. And I think that pad is $100??? Some crazy price, I felt it should have been included.
Thanks for the feedback, good to hear you like it!!
We've been looking at getting one and I definitely agree the mat should be included. They advertise it to cut glass mosaic so it should include everything needed to cut them successfully.
aaaand i just bought the big clinker, the last thing you said was the best tile cutter
You’ll still be happy with the Ishii, I bought that before trying the Masterpiuma. For the price the Big Clinker is solid and I’m still happy with that purchase
cool thanks Jeff
I thought you were only suppose to lift the handle for delicate cuts??
Our suggestion is to test the cut for each type of tile. But overall this is a great cutter
Get the 36” it’s much better and just little bit expensive
For $450 it better be great!
Great job, but for me nothing can beat Sigma.
5 seconds in and my answer is: "Sigma make the best tile cutters". End of video: My answer hasn't changed.
Who gives a shit about your opinion
@@LosmiPZS seems like you "give a sh*t", the fact that you commented proves it. Haha, you sad sap!
dear sar I have need to be a your masin
tile cutter is for beginner & process is very slow & manual. But works great for beginner.
Its nice and all, but very expensive for a home owner.
sigma #1 I have 4 machines, and one is 7 years old with me and works like the first day
Aquiles Torres Did you use montolit aswell?
@@VayneNS never but it looks very expensive,,
Poor to use cant see the cutting wheel when using it.. rubi are better made with a smoother gliding action
Great cutter but for the average weekend warrior $454 is a bit steep!
Thats why you hire a professional that already has the tools
If your laying tiles on the weekend doesn't sound like fun to me , hire a tile guy and drink beer on the weekend bra
👍👍👍👍
Probably costs almost as much as a wet tile saw.
Avery says masterpiuma one more time I'm going to smack the master shit out of him. Besides that great video. Not sure if it's worth all that money though
i have purchased this machine and it did not even cut (thickness 10mm) marble what a gimmick
Kitchen Redo I do how to use it and the machine cant can’t cut 10mm thick marble tiles but only ceramic tiles
Kitchen Redo yes I did and it does not cut 10mm thick tiles it can’t i was scorching the tile and it was not breaking in Half the tiles was just falling apart this product can’t and I repeat it can’t cut marble tiles
Kitchen Redo also I lost money because of that machine
Kitchen Redo wow how long did this comment take I’m very Curious anyway I’m repeating myself over and over again this machine can’t cut 10 mm MARBLE TILES this machine broke some of my tiles and this made me lose tiles this means that I LOST MONEY 👍 PS shit machine
Kitchen Redo A mate of mine used the machine and he said it does cut very nicely with CERAMIC TILES but marble tiles there’s a problem this is a honest response from my mate ok also you are very proactive with this machine
Im a sigma guy for over 15 Years. Now i wll to swap
Sigma also makes great cutters 👍🏼
I think Sigma its still the Best
Or just buy a wet saw.
That’s always an option. But this works very well and doesn’t make a mess inside the house
Home Repair Tutor who uses a wet saw in a house? I’m betting you for the same price you paid for that. You can buy a decent wet saw. Just today for a $300 wet saw I cut 1/4” cuts down porcelain tile. Also if you are doing door jams, or anything that involves a box cut out, you need a saw. Tile slicers are good for speed, but just like you showed in your video slicers won’t always cut straight. I liked the video, but I don’t think this would be a good DIY person buy. But i deff think about buying it for my tile business.
That's kind of what I was thinking. My daughter has a small job to do in her kitchen (Backsplash) and will probably never use this tool ever again. Does anyone have any suggestions for her and I? I would guess that the entire job will be less than 15' long and 12-15" high.
You could price out a cheap wet saw from Harbor Freight vs renting one for a day. That’s what I’d probably do. Where do you live? I could loan you a wet saw if you’re near Pittsburgh
Totally understand, this tile cutter is geared more for a tile setter or contractor, someone who will use it every day or every week.
plz answer mi
