Real heads recognize. I have 25 years mixing techno vinyl, (BanGwaX) and Surgeon was the one dude I came across that had me really wanting to get my Live P.A skills in check. So much fun. Be it records or the processor, be it 5 people or 5000; nothing more fun then hanging out and jamming with like skilled individuals.
Im just amazed of the full range of sound and that he can play - and keep it interesting - for an hour! With so little gear! I mean, seen a lot of acts with a wall of eurorack and it just sound sheite. Big up surgeon! Also, check out blawan
@@naturligfunktion4232 It also depends on the modules you have too, but the octotrack is essentially a DAW machine. It's a lot of functionality for the amount of gear he has on stage.
@@Saltedcoil He generally used the octatrack as a looper to help with changes/transitions I think. Think he also had some stuff programmed. But he later on swapped it for a leploop I think cos he said he didn't really gel with the Octa, but it did what he needed so he kept using it until he found an alternative. .
I mean, It's probably just what they available at the club that night. I doubt he specifically requested a 40 channel mixer, let alone traveled with one... And there are plenty of reasons to use a console like that over a dj mixer for playing live.
There is some serious low effort jamming going in the background there. I think high school down the road was letout early that's why she's texting fat mum to come fetch her. A sharp flying kick to the back of the head usually does the trick with those those sort. I would need at least a space of five meters all-around me in order express what this music is doing to me.

I love watching livesets-it is essentially live hardware improv.
yes. one gets very different results when "on the spot" than in the studio. It's a driving tension. ;)
That's why I love making tunes that way too - what's gonna happen next... WHO KNOWS!?
think think think think think 3:51
f*** this, let's move on 4:08

2019 and this set still one of the best BR ever
Min 17.
Amazing, what a genius
real liveset for once on BR. Doesn't mean perfect but unique. Pure tekno and skill for risks. Surgeon still a king after 20 years

Managed to see Surgeon live in Malta in 2016, must say he`s a great artist :)
Simply brilliant. This is hard to pull off with eurorack and an octogon, kudos
Electrons Octotrack ,sorry

Mr.Modular sure but I would still argue that this sounds dope because of Surgeons skill rather than his choice of modules

If we'd define temperature in terms of cretinoid vibrational motion speed, Boiler room would be quite hot.
Great music tho
I'm sad this comment is bound to be underrated.
lebannerfan65 it's one of the best comments on TH-cam. I should get it tattooed on the inside of my eyelids.

If Ian Brown was murdering the dancefloor with his modular rig.

Boiler room crowds are the worst
Pete Horam lol
Pete Horam I love watching boiler room crowds when my eyes are working that is 😂🤣😂
Pete Horam I agree you. There's no reason for them to be crowding the DJ they end up dancing like robots 🤖
The Fjaak tblisi set is one of the only sets where i see people really enjoying theirself.

DJ set??
Klaus Funhauser analogue synths, is improvised, no tracks
HYS ARI yeah i know.
i almost lost my belief in Surgeon when they call him to DJ
The tunes need to get created before you can spin them. This is live production. Much Much more skilled and creative than spinning disks
Why? He is amazing as well on the decks!
big respect that he managed to perform with all these hipsters breathing in his neck..
BRUTAL...XDDD
