When I play my Goliath everyone and their brother focuses on me. I’ve always felt that people will always shoot at cruisers first over bb trying to get east cheep kill.
Please showcase Omaha! It is the face of all the tier 5 light cruisers, because of how comical it is, but in my experience it is very powerful when you know how to use it. It would also be nice to have a fresh look at the Omaha, because no new Omaha content has come out recently. (I also want to see how you play it.)
I suspect in that last game there was an element of the enemy team focusing the player and not the ship, ie they were shooting at PC, regardless of the ship you're in, rather than the correct ship, ie the Ohio next to you. However I do notice that it does seem to draw a bit more fire than other cruisers, but that is probably a hope for a Dev Strike on a UK cruiser. I quite like Gibraltar, but I do agree she's not a great ship. I play the UK CLs quite a lot so I'm comfortable with the AP-only smoke cruiser play, people who aren't used to the aiming for AP-Only cruisers will find it frustrating, but she can take absolutely enormous chunks out of anything. She'll nuke DDs (As that Halland discovered), she'll chew BBs to pieces and Cit cruisers into next week. She's something different, with it's own feel (Although Hampshire is similar) that's kind of the appeal, which is a hard sell when she costs so much RP. If you enjoy the UK Lights Cruisers or enjoyed Hampshire then Gibraltar can be fun, but I doubt if she's useful for competitive play such as Ranked or Clan Battles, Gibraltar does not do well in a static meta game, you need a ship with HE in those. Her lack of torps and the atrocious turret angles are the biggest flaws for me.
Something I have learned over time is that people aren't shooting all that frequently anymore. I've been in clusters of five or six ships and bean completely focused because everyone is still dark. People are literally afraid to shoot nowadays
Being spotted these days is just a death sentence what with all the CVs and subs that can just focus you without taking any damage in return and melt your ship down
@@PunzL I've literally been in situations where Ive been shot at by a Montana and he held fire for 2 full mins until I was spotted again to shoot at me. Been in enough situations like that to the point I've started timing them. He still managed 7th place

The thing about Gibralter is that her shells are *very* special. They work almost exactly the same as british light cruiser AP shells, but retain the penetration of larger shells. Effectively, they work about the same as SAP shells, but can still citadel cruisers. She has a lower tier counterpart, the Hampshire at t8.
I think they are just focusing Potato quality CC and not Gibraltar. I almost got this ship a week ago but opted for Vamp 2. It does look like it has potential. 59k RB points is just so much for a situational ship. It needs the brit heal or torps or something...
I got this ship last month, and found it ridiculously fun and consistent. You have to know where to aim and it's not gameplay for the faint-hearted, but these days every cruiser attracts the same amount of attention. Don't use range mod and trade Concealment module for Steering Gears 2; pick an island, use it to juke your enemies around, and try and draw them in close.
I'd love to see some videos on lower tier ships. Personally tiers 9-10 get old really fast with super ships and the horribly passive meta in randoms. I've been grinding French cruisers, currently at Algerie, and really enjoying it since things feel more balanced and people actually push in.

Funny thing is it's more common to get double CV games at lower tiers, but they feel a lot less OP and able to ruin your game than the tier 10/super CV's. Subs are their own category of cancer, but at least most of them I've come across don't seem to know what they're doing, especially at mid tiers.
You should focus on shooting DD’s and light cruisers. You did 10k damage on halland and that normal for Gibraltar. It’s made for stabbing DD’s and light cruisers😊
Try a hybrid/secondary Shikishima with close quarters expert, AR and main battery reload mod, in airship escort. You get a sub 20 second reload on Shikishima guns!
when i am in gibraltar i get focused very hard. i susually just try to support the dd in the beginning because i won't live long anyway. i sometimes got hunted to the edge of the map
Please consider Pensacola: - Slow turret traverse, showcasing more "how important is turret pre-turning". - Lowest tier with US heavy AP shell and magic bounce angle, 10 guns, heavy salvo showcase, turret sector angle is also good to use all guns (30°). - Tankiest T6 cruiser without heal, 25mm bounces 356mm BB and shatters most DD HE. If you find perfect match to showcase, tanking BB can be fun, against higher caliber though... though (less overpen and citadel through 25mm citadel deck). - And most importantly... secondary build memes! It only has 4 lobbing guns each side, but she got the most accurate cruiser secondary. Perhaps luckily finds scene where suprer low HP DD pops up from hydro and shortly after CQE achievement. Secondary build is not necessary.
i wonder why spend 59k research point on this thing. It likely to explode since it has 9.5km firing penalty and not thing on the back. Sometimes I saw it in my team and exploded because it was citadel from the weirdest angle as possible. Italian cruiser can do the same but better looking and armor
Can you do one for the München (tier 7 german premium cruiser)? I love that ship and think it is very underrated. Like a USN light cruiser with a bit less dpm but more comfortable to play (more range, amazing conceal, yolo torps, german HE pen, german hydro)
Any British Heavy Cruiser is a shell magnet. Shiny black ribbons are easy to get, that’s why you get focused heavy when playing one. The ship is incredible. But you should really know what you’re doing in heavy cruisers before considering this, and grind the Goliath line for sure. The firing angles are atrocious like you said lol, the AP is very decent, and making it work doesn’t take much effort. Chonking 10-15k per volley on BBs is common, but what this thing does to DDs should be a war crime. My first game in it I caught a F.Sherman broadside at 9km and nailed him for 15k damage in 1 shot. If this ship had HE as well, it would be a God tier ship for sure.

Or at least a very different build from what he uses. So the people asking Stalingrad or Vermont or whatever... PQ has already lots of vids on them.
Couple things I noticed while watching. In the first game, I'm not sure how you tanked that Venezia SAP salvo, most shells grouped and smashed into your superstructure but you took next to no damage. Superior British engineering beating puny Italian munitions?? In the second game, I suppose you were hard-focused because you're a well known player (and a dangerous one if left alive) and because Gibraltar is a very rare ship. As for the Bourgogne, Gibraltar's bow is only 25mm thick so Bourgogne can overmatch it with AP.
Please showcase any T3 cruiser. I just want to see you go up against the career T3 players that hang out down there constantly. Tried to get a couple low tier win rates up a bit and totally paid the price. Was pretty crazy looking at their stats post game.
Did you change your camera angle settings? There is a lot of ship and water in front of the ship in your default view. Surely that was not like that in your recent videos.
You asked about getting focused in Gibraltar. I don't remember being focused like that in my Gibraltar, but I also don't have a youtube channel with 41k subs.
Right now I'm wondering what happens to Gibraltar once Monmouth comes out. While the two definitely don't overlap in terms of gimmick (Monmouth is more conventionally Goliath than Gibraltar) it raises a question of how distribution will work (especially since we haven't had a ship be pulled from the RB yet). Another thing is that TGG isn't that good on Gibraltar because the angles are so bad, so being close in is uh, not a good idea. Reload mod is still gonna be the better bet in that regard.
I dropped this game a while ago, but if u have HSF Harekaze I think that would make an interesting video. I have never seen someone use hull 3 effectively and I would love to see you try.
Girbraltar feels like such a pig. Yeah, you get that sweet DPM but almost everything about the ship makes you feel like you're being punished for having that DPM. The high shell arc, the trash armor scheme, the small smoke that only emits for 20s, the bad firing angles, the absence of a superheal that you'd get on other ships, and of course the 9km smoke bloom. And when a DD decides to go bow-on and bounce most of your shells because they don't overmatch, it's like "why am I playing this again?"
Honestly, I would like to see you try to do something with any of the tier V cruisers. I recently started playing the game and, oh my god, they are miserable. Especially the Omaha, you can't even hide behind most islands in that thing because of the terrible firing arcs of the guns on it. That and the whole thing is a giant citadel that can be penned from seemingly every angle.
My good sir, I must respectfully disagree with you. The Omaha specifically, in my opinion is a very powerful cruiser. I have carried so many Ranked battles in this ship. The first item I want to talk about is the firing arcs. I do not understand how you have so much trouble using islands. Again, I say this, not with any negativity whatsoever, but for the sake of discussion and learning. I have done tens of thousands of damage in the first few minutes of the match using islands. In your case, try open water if islands don't work. I have also done so much damage in open water because the Omaha works so well at range, because the shell flight time is so good. Not only that, but it handles like a pro figure skater on ice. I have juked so many BBs at range, that while they were focusing me, (and missing) my teammates won the match. All in all, I find the Omaha to be the most powerful out of all the T5 cruisers. (I forgot to mention, it even has torpedoes!can you believe how many people actually let you get close enough to use them? Its amazing the number!) Oh and one more thing. I find that no armor is best armor. Because, while you can get completely blapped, in my experience, people don't know how to aim and they tend to just overpen. Thus allowing me to get close enough to use my torpedoes.
@@blazinbenji5571 My experience has been a bit different from yours evidently, I've thought of a few things I could probably change in my playstyle from the points you've brought up, though I don't agree fully with all of them. Having said that, I got so fed up with the Omaha that I ended up dumping most of my free exp to bypass it a couple of days ago.
Try sticking it in open water, full speed, full rudder and just have a ball. You’ll last longer than you think and do some damage. The Omaha is as good as the captain. It’s either insta-killed or gangster. It has great range, armed to the teeth, fast, agile and plenty of torps if BBs get too close. I heard going bow in is it’s flaw.
The citadel is absolutely gigantic, no spaced armor like Goliath has and the smoke firing penalty is massive. Combined with the short range, makes it VERY hard to position properly where you have targets in range and not spotting you through your smoke. And like you noticed, absolutely terrible firing angles due to the quad barrel turrets. She is a bunch of gimmicks piled together which just don't work that well. She can be made to be effective, and her AP will absolutely destroy DDs. But I think for the amount of effort she takes to play, I would rather play Minotaur or Plymouth.
Gibraltar is better looking than Goliath Faster fire rate Much more agile Basically dev strikes any DD Is pretty good at killing most cruisers (esp Soviet ones) Is fairly stealthy Has a smoke which is somewhat helpful (sometimes just to disengage - secondaries are decentish) It can be a good torpedo Vs BBs if push comes to shove (i.e ramming) I quite like her in ranked, less so in randoms.
From experience, EVERYONE will focus you as a Gibraltar to the exclusion of everyone else... honestly you can sometimes use that to your advantage in a lot of situations... But even so, it's a pretty miserable ship to play.
Honestly from what I saw of the video, I don't think the Gibraltar does anything special better than a Venezia or Hindenburg, I'm comparing with these two because it seems to be focused on those big alpha salvoes and slow reload. The smoke is imo kinda useless since you have heavy cruiser guns so the smoke firing penalty is really bad, making using the smoke situational at best. No armor and no super heal makes it inherently inferior to both Hindy and Venezia too, so I dunno, for a research ship it seems extremely underwhelming!
Outnumbered is real nice on ships like Napoli, Petro, Carnot, where you are strong enough to hold an outnumbered flank, and need a touch more accuracy to really punish ships. The speed boost helps you dodge, and when you're up against BBs with long reloads, you can really do a number on them.
Not as ugly as most ships WG design themselves. Is that worth the research points? Everybody gets to decide for themselves. British AP-only cruisers do OK when not uptiered, mostly. This seems to be an exception.
Nice to watch another game from you, thank you. Im sorry but the Gibraltar just isn't worth the RP. If it had HE it would be a better ship but still not great. It kind of lacks in almost every category but really isn't outstanding at anything. I think I would rather have a Tier IX Drake and have the HE along with Hydro, Torps, better Heal and a Spotting Plane. The smoke is good but not good enough to actually benefit from.
I think the torps were because you had less room to maneuver than the Ohio hugging the island like that. Not sure why you were getting so much artillery attention.

Bourgogne is a awesome first steel pick. Mecklenburg is another great pick and while I don't have Ragnar, most people say it's great.

I dropped this game a while ago, but if u have HSF Harekaze I think that would make an interesting video. I have never seen someone use hull 3 effectively and I would love to see you try.
Play the Seattle with stock hull. It is suprisingly tanky
Girbraltar feels like such a pig. Yeah, you get that sweet DPM but almost everything about the ship makes you feel like you're being punished for having that DPM. The high shell arc, the trash armor scheme, the small smoke that only emits for 20s, the bad firing angles, the absence of a superheal that you'd get on other ships, and of course the 9km smoke bloom. And when a DD decides to go bow-on and bounce most of your shells because they don't overmatch, it's like "why am I playing this again?"
I've never had that head on problem with dds in Gib. Idk how many shells you're landing to get those kind of bounces..
Can you play the Yudachi? It is by far the best ship in the game.
Honestly, I would like to see you try to do something with any of the tier V cruisers. I recently started playing the game and, oh my god, they are miserable. Especially the Omaha, you can't even hide behind most islands in that thing because of the terrible firing arcs of the guns on it. That and the whole thing is a giant citadel that can be penned from seemingly every angle.
My good sir, I must respectfully disagree with you. The Omaha specifically, in my opinion is a very powerful cruiser. I have carried so many Ranked battles in this ship. The first item I want to talk about is the firing arcs. I do not understand how you have so much trouble using islands. Again, I say this, not with any negativity whatsoever, but for the sake of discussion and learning. I have done tens of thousands of damage in the first few minutes of the match using islands. In your case, try open water if islands don't work. I have also done so much damage in open water because the Omaha works so well at range, because the shell flight time is so good. Not only that, but it handles like a pro figure skater on ice. I have juked so many BBs at range, that while they were focusing me, (and missing) my teammates won the match.
All in all, I find the Omaha to be the most powerful out of all the T5 cruisers. (I forgot to mention, it even has torpedoes!can you believe how many people actually let you get close enough to use them? Its amazing the number!)
Oh and one more thing. I find that no armor is best armor. Because, while you can get completely blapped, in my experience, people don't know how to aim and they tend to just overpen. Thus allowing me to get close enough to use my torpedoes.
@@blazinbenji5571 My experience has been a bit different from yours evidently, I've thought of a few things I could probably change in my playstyle from the points you've brought up, though I don't agree fully with all of them. Having said that, I got so fed up with the Omaha that I ended up dumping most of my free exp to bypass it a couple of days ago.
Try sticking it in open water, full speed, full rudder and just have a ball. You’ll last longer than you think and do some damage. The Omaha is as good as the captain. It’s either insta-killed or gangster. It has great range, armed to the teeth, fast, agile and plenty of torps if BBs get too close. I heard going bow in is it’s flaw.
The citadel is absolutely gigantic, no spaced armor like Goliath has and the smoke firing penalty is massive. Combined with the short range, makes it VERY hard to position properly where you have targets in range and not spotting you through your smoke.
And like you noticed, absolutely terrible firing angles due to the quad barrel turrets. She is a bunch of gimmicks piled together which just don't work that well. She can be made to be effective, and her AP will absolutely destroy DDs. But I think for the amount of effort she takes to play, I would rather play Minotaur or Plymouth.

Gibraltar is better looking than Goliath
Faster fire rate
Much more agile
Basically dev strikes any DD
Is pretty good at killing most cruisers (esp Soviet ones)
Is fairly stealthy
Has a smoke which is somewhat helpful (sometimes just to disengage - secondaries are decentish)
It can be a good torpedo Vs BBs if push comes to shove (i.e ramming)
I quite like her in ranked, less so in randoms.

From experience, EVERYONE will focus you as a Gibraltar to the exclusion of everyone else... honestly you can sometimes use that to your advantage in a lot of situations...
But even so, it's a pretty miserable ship to play.

Honestly from what I saw of the video, I don't think the Gibraltar does anything special better than a Venezia or Hindenburg, I'm comparing with these two because it seems to be focused on those big alpha salvoes and slow reload. The smoke is imo kinda useless since you have heavy cruiser guns so the smoke firing penalty is really bad, making using the smoke situational at best. No armor and no super heal makes it inherently inferior to both Hindy and Venezia too, so I dunno, for a research ship it seems extremely underwhelming!

People don't do that to a Gibraltar in island shade normally. This is definitely just your name aggro.
Outnumbered is real nice on ships like Napoli, Petro, Carnot, where you are strong enough to hold an outnumbered flank, and need a touch more accuracy to really punish ships. The speed boost helps you dodge, and when you're up against BBs with long reloads, you can really do a number on them.

British AP-only cruisers do OK when not uptiered, mostly. This seems to be an exception.

Nice to watch another game from you, thank you. Im sorry but the Gibraltar just isn't worth the RP. If it had HE it would be a better ship but still not great. It kind of lacks in almost every category but really isn't outstanding at anything. I think I would rather have a Tier IX Drake and have the HE along with Hydro, Torps, better Heal and a Spotting Plane. The smoke is good but not good enough to actually benefit from.

I think the torps were because you had less room to maneuver than the Ohio hugging the island like that. Not sure why you were getting so much artillery attention.
