I have Tourettes and came here to say this. I've never seen a better representation of what Tourettes is and how people who have it deal with it. Most tv shows or movies that show Tourettes focus on the very few that scream obscenities. Only something like 13% of people with Tourettes actually have this tic. The creators and writers of South park really do their research which is one reason the show is so great! They are very accurate in their representations.

    • @christopherb501
      @christopherb501 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@IamCaptainInsano Yet weirdly, people with Tourette's I've seen react to this episode take it as that exact same shallow portrayal and completely miss the joke.

@@christopherb501 maybe they don't watch South park regularly. With south park you have to get past the ridiculousness of the jokes and realize the underlying theme. This episode shows a variety of tics and sheds a little more light on Tourettes than most. Usually it's represented like it is in the movie Duece Bigalow Male Gigalo, just someone yelling obscenities. Most people with Tourettes have some sort of vocal tic and south park is showing how different it can be for each person. I don't know but I always felt like this is the best representation I've seen of Tourettes in movies/ shows

I have learned 3 things from this episode:
    1. The people who fake their Tourettes are disgusting. Tourettes isn't something to pretend for attention or sympathy and/or Cartman's case. Tourettes effect the person who has then and they truly deserve the respect.
    2. This is why you keep a filter on over your words or everything will come spilling out.
    3. Cartman is doing some sus shit and no one can tell me otherwise how after hugging Kyle, he was going in for a kiss. Prove me wrong on that one.
Other than that, this episode is amazing!

6:30 "transitioned". And yes; that was a thing for a while. Garrison managed to deal with his internalized homophobia for four seasons, but eventually went so far back into the well, he convinced himself he was a trans woman, turned himself in S09E01 "Garrison's Fancy New Vagina" (graphic, fyi), and became even MORE of a homophobe. He changed back in I think Season 12 ("Eek! A Penis!" was the episode title); this period was an overall low one for him, outmatched only by his time as a standzin for THE IDIOT.
Now, as to where "Mrs" came from, I haven't a clue.
Try watching the ep that I think is titled "Worldwide Recorder Concert" for a possible source as to how he got so damn messed up.
Oh, and don't worry about misgendering here; such concerns are moot with a character as fluid and as BIZARRE as Garrison.

He lost Mister Slave cause of that Mister Slave being attracted to men and penis but Garrison went full transition an chopped it off. In a later season he regretted it and he transitioned back cause its a cartoon and they grew body parts on rats for science and he manage to convince the lab to grow him back his penis to reattach.

Thomas is one if those characters I wish transferred over to the boys' school. Him and bi-curious Bradley. I like them and wished we saw more of them

I saw this like in my teens on shrooms with the homies. It kicked in when cartman was starting to say real things. I was the only one laughing. Good times.

The "How to catch a predator" reference is real; one of the guys they baited killed himself rather than face justice, and that kinda ended the show.

I would recommend two episodes from south park to enjoy:
south park season 5 episode 10 - "How to eat with your butt"
    and
south park season 6 episode 4 - "Fun with Veal"
    Great episodes!
I hope you enjoy them too

The saddest part is that there has been (and still is) quite a few steamers/youtubers that fake having tourette's syndrome for clout and sympathy views while there are people who actually struggle with it everyday. People think Cartman is bad, but there are real monsters out in the world who abuse the kindness of some and would laugh at the suffering of others.

“To catch a predator” ended when they confronted someone on camera and he shot himself right in front of them. He was a prominent lawyer or judge or something I think? But they caught it all on camera I believe and then stopped the show
