Thank you for your time and review. There is always a difference between professional mechanic and DIYER/weekend warrior. Then it gets even more complicated when you have the different makes and models. For example I am a Diyer who likes VW that is completely different from Chevy vs Ford vs Toyota. Thanks for keeping it honest and real. FYI I as a diyer I would never use a matco cart the same as a us general.
You can add a full drawer between cbinet and hutch to add height no?? I feel like I've seen that on Koon trucking on the matco truck. Let Tommy know could be a beneficial add on for his set up as opposed to changing out or keeping his current set up love the channel and content cheer new tech BTW been in the industry and finally bought a double bank snap on 54x30 used on the truck. Said I would never do it and I did not my 5 drawer us general was heavy asf and was literally stacking tools to the point I couldn't close the drawers sometimes!! But yeah I'm happy and have space to grow more and cart is much more maneuverable. Take care Justin and congrats on finally endulging in a quality necessity of our trade🙌🙏👍🍻
Yep. That’s why I like Matco toolboxes. They have so many add ons for your base toolbox to customize it to suit your needs. I’ve got 2 add ons to my base toolbox and I’m about to add a side locker next.
Sounds like I was lucky when I was a tech at Buick/Pontiac!! We had 5 Tech 2s with candi modules to down load into then a main Computer set up with the GM site to do pass thru reflashing for the PCMs and BCMs so we didn't have to have a PC to work!!! Cheers and Dueces Justin!!
That US general made me a lot of money. And it was a workhorse. That’s toolbox I’ve had in years. Not sure how the MATCO one will work out yet. The Cornwall tool box broke down relatively quickly so I was actually pretty disappointed with how much I spent on a Cornwall toolbox. Granted I like the drawer configuration and space but still I don’t believe it was worth the amount I paid.
@@brettwalkom948 yes I did watch the video and I commented on the headline of the video and I got a very respectful response from Justin so if you're looking to troll somebody just move on because I'm not going to put up with it I'm just going to ignore you try to put something else there I'll block you
Wouldn't you have saved a ton of money and gotten the same functionality if you just swapped out deeper drawers for the ones that come with the ICON box? 1 long 4" drawer is only $55.00. And then just sold the roller
Ya, but everyone That I know of has had issues with the drawers not fitting and are still waiting for them to come in. It don't matter who you buy from, but if it works it works.
I’ve been thinking about stepping down to that one drawer cart because I’m usually doing bigger jobs in my bay and going across the shop mostly for quick ones that don’t need many tools.
I believe my boss has a Matco 4S with a hutch. He wants me to buy it from him, since he's looking to purchase a bigger box in the next few months. I've been working as a tech for about 8 months now and I'm not sure if I should take the jump this soon. I'm currently working at an independent European shop and I mainly work out of a small service cart and use the U.S. General 5 drawer cart as my "tool box" but I'm starting to run out of room and would like a bigger box, especially as I buy more tools...any advice would be appreciated.
Man that’s a lot of toolbox to buy when you’ve only been doing it for eight months. I don’t know what kind of deal is trying to give you, but I don’t feel like you’ve really been in the industry long enough to have formulated a strong enough opinion of whether or not it’s something for you or not. Maybe it is maybe it isn’t. It is your money, but the other day I think what you have is perfect if you need something bigger I’d recommend going with a husky toolbox around the holidays can usually get a pretty big box for around 800 bucks that’s going to have plenty of drawers power options and it’s not going to completely wipe out your savings
Update: Turns out my boss has a 78"x28" 6s toolbox and after some thought, I figured that I would just bring my U.S. General 44" tool box to work and my 5 drawer cart home. I'll spend the money on tools instead.
JD you can never go wrong with something you have to have moving forward in your career for that reason alone I think you made a good decision paying cash and not paying double for the new box just made it an even better investment in yourself which again you can't go wrong and let's face it with reduced space this is a great option if I needed it I'd buy one and I'd pay cash 💲10,000 if you can put away $500 a month is less than 2 years that's really not that long
the dealership youre going to doesnt supply your laptop????, whats your email, I'll send you a pic of my laptop set up in my tool box, I think you'll like it and utilize it for more tool box surface space
Hey Justin off topic I know. Currently have the Ridgid Mid-Torque Octane impact wrench and have warrantied it out 4 times since October. I work at my family’s salvage yard and never really considered myself in the “pro” field but after going through so many Ridgid I’m looking at the Milwaukee Mid-Torque that just came out. Should I pull the trigger? Or maybe I got a bad batch of impacts from my local HD? Everyone said Ridgid was a solid brand, but usually I take off 40-80 tires a day. What you think bud? Thanks for the help if you can maybe even make a video too about it!!
The Milwaukee High Torque with with the One Key option. you can set the torque levels (will get you in range not exact, will still need a torque stick), they make one with an extended anvil which should work well for many types of wheels. Good luck!
@@markpeterson6836 I prefer the size of the mid because 700lbs is enough for me. Some rusted bolts here and there but if I can’t impact them I torch them.
Brother keep doing what you are doing. I did the same thing when I worked in transit. Best way🤙 You got a bad ass box just get a roller so you dont have to run back and forth. You're good.🍻
I got a 68 epiq with a hitch stainless top power drawer speed drawer and bottom light up drawer for 10 k was it worth it Yes is it for everyone maybe not did I really want it yes do I have good tools snap on yes a lot and other brands even harbor freight yes I said it FYI maybe 4 hf
When I get a high-end box I'm paying cash for it regardless, as much as I like snap on products, I'll probably never get one I'm leaning heavily towards matco, my friends shop has matco dealer unlike mine, were dealer less at moment now
@@ivantinoco2643 not understanding the question? If you mean sent home early on flat rate? Then yes dealers here in California are required to pay 1hr of your regular rate x however many hours your on the clock regardless of how many hours you flag unless it’s more than they pay you the difference. So as you can see this rule plus a slow dealership makes for people being sent home early so they ain’t gotta pay you.
No I just really enjoy the products they sell at Harbor freight For the mechanical trade as well as Gearwrench products that Jeff Sells on his tool truck. If you’ve been watching the show for a minute you’ll know that Jeff is an independent tool distributor of the Gearwrench product line. So naturally I’m going to support Jeff and a product that I believe is a great product for mechanics that don’t wanna pay over the top buchu dollars and still get a great quality product. I had a very skilled friend of mine create this animation for me with some of my thoughts and twists of what I wanna be animated character to do he got it done and I paid him for a job well done
Well since I smoke pot and am banished to the garage for such things, it sits in a top drawer of my Husky Industrial box. . . Which means mine actually will get the "many times every day" treatment that the real mechanic's drawers do. We'll see if all that extra $ really needs to be blown. . .
Cool box it will serve you well with the hutch
Should see it in about 8 weeks. Custom built
