"Attempting" is so funny to me because she always "does" it and she does it better now than ever before! Her voice, tone, technique, and style has improved so much! She is a true vocalist and I love her! Her voice is so beautiful, full and powerful!
G5s in Underneath The Tree are still one of the most amazing notes in Christmas songs history. Hope she does that again soon and makes the song one of the greatest Hot 100 Christmas songs in the coming future.
It is fun to see all those clips. I still think she lost a bit of rawness and the (often) reckless use of her voice. In her early days she often sang like it was her last day on earth, which isn't amazing for the longevity of your vocal cords. It is still impressive as hell though, what she did as a young singer. For sure she is right that she improved overall, maybe she lost over half a note or so to aging, but she still has pretty amazing range and the control is just so much better. As a benefit, she can keep her voice in good condition in this way.
@@pinobluevogel6458 i agree with almost everything u said but her range is even wider today. her lower register is so much fuller and she has more even more ease on her upper belts too, see that G5 in walk away? she even hit an A6 this year and a B6 last year
@@doctorits Yea I think I should have specified that her natural range has lowered somewhat, but that her range did stay more or less the same in the high range because she has expanded it with practice and singing. You see the difference between 20 years ago, 10 years ago and now. So while she used to sing those high notes by just belting them out recklessly, she now has more control and if she sings them, they come out more controlled. There were a lot of examples at the early part of the video though, where she sang the song a full note lower key, or half a note lower key, or dodged the high note altogether, which is certainly not something I would ever want her to do. (maybe she was sick, we don't know) Her recent performances are still amazing though and on 'Cry' for example, she actually pitched it half a note up, instead of down, which is surprising.
She just sounds SO much healthier now.

So much more open and relaxed now. She’s truly perfected her craft.
Thanks DOC!!! That note on Idol "He makes me feel so ALIVE!!!" Still takes my breath away.
you're welcome, that note is iconic
My favorite high note is the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” one, hope she attempts it again soon since she’s entered on a second vocal prime 😍

Did that dude really ask “why is that”? Literally of course your voice gets better after your teens and early 20s 😂
