Hey hey! thanks for checking out the video and my first ever review! I've got 2 things to say: 1. RIP the top of my head once again, it shall be revived in the next video, and 2. This was my first time recording my own game footage for a video! I had no idea what I was doing, but I sure hope it's moderately okay! Hope you enjoyed!
This game took me FOREVER To finsih. my god the chapters and world was huge. IT WAS AN ADVENTURE. it was my first XB game and I was a bit confused on some parts, but had a blast with it. By far my most played switch game so far. great review, I need a break for a bit, it was quite a commitment.
great review, thanks! :D i love xenoblade games (played all including X and Torna) but have been pushing this one back because of the time commitment. you convinced me to pick it up soon as i owe it to myself to experience it. your joy in the video is contageous !
Thank you so much for the review~ i enjoyed watching your content and spoiler free ✨ this convinced me to try XC3 ^^ Subbed! looking forward to more of your content
I felt like the slightly more understated use of strong and bright colors for the visuals/environments went hand in hand with using slightly more understated musical themes. In the first two games, the scores were big and sweeping with super strong, in-your-face melodies and whatnot, but I'd say here they just pushed everything into the background very slightly. And while not having quite as memorable an overall soundtrack, I think it still manages to pair perfectly with the more subdued visuals and the whole experience of trekking around and whatnot. It just fits great. Also, that Yzana Plains track is *so* damn Elder Scrolls-esque, I love it.
Wonderful review!! The ending had me really choked up too. I'm hoping we'll get some sort of closure about the ending in the upcoming story DLC as well. And I hope you enjoy going back to XC2. There's something about those characters that really resonated with me, and after getting more comfortable with the gameplay I found the combo system super addicting and more fun compared to how they refined it in XC3. It has plenty of problems like the annoying field skills and other quality of life things but something about the second half just really made me fall in love with the game after my initial hesitancy. P.S. I hope they release the physical OST for XC3 soon. I NEED it 😭
RIGHT?? I would buy the OST in a heartbeat😭 And I'm honestly really excited to go back to 2! Everyone I've talked to has said the 2nd half is what really makes the game, so I'm really hopeful!
I started with 3 and actually loved it so much that i am currently going back and playing 1! This was such a great review and can't wait to see more reviews from you!
I was going to buy tears of kingdom but really wanted to try this game out so pulled the trigger havent played it yet but tomorrow I will. I am excited
I don't know how far along you went with Xenoblade 2, but it goes from having the worst first half of the series to arguably the strongest second half. From chapter 5 and up, it's incredible.
@@qualitea_individual I agree, XBC1 feels like a very focused story, while XBC2 feels like a 4 season anime and if you can get to the final season then you finally get that payoff and it all comes together in a very meaningful way. Also, Torna solidifies characters that felt a little too ambiguous in the main game. Great Review! New to the channel and cant wait to check out your other content! :)
Great review! I can't wait for more! I would love to see some reviews of some of the games you've recently played on streams too. Love to hear you break down each part of the game and your feelings on them
Finally I’ve been waiting this video to drop ever since you said you’re finally playing it as I’m considering buying it but I held down waiting to see your opinion 😭 thank you so much for this review
I loved this review! I am thinking about picking up the first game and playing through the entire series. Thank you for sharing your struggles, I thought I was the only one who struggled with worse depression and anxiety during the beginning of the year. ❤
I hope you enjoy it if you give the series a try! And I definitely understand that feeling! The beginning of the year can always feel so isolating, but know you’re not alone in this one and I really hope things have improved since then! Sending you all the good vibes for good days to come!!
Great review! As someone who's just picked it up (partly because of watching this channel!) but is only a few hours in, having a spoiler-free review but getting an idea of what to look out for is SO helpful
Amazing review!!!! It’s crazy how much games can have such emotional impacts. I wanna love XENOBLADE, I started the first game but it feels so overwhelming, I’m not used to big JRPGs with complex battle systems. What’s drawing me is the story and the characters because I feel like it’s gonna be an amazing adventure! Let me know if you have any tips hehe.
The unique system from XC1 is Break Topple mechanic, it is where u break enemy with skill colored PINK then followed up by Toppling them using skill with GREEN color, some party member have different color for their skill, u will have easier time if u see it by it's color Another tips for is don't be underleveled, you should be able to get away without a good equipment setup just by being at the same level of the monster. If... only if... after all that you still have a hard time... then if u don't know Xenoblade is a MOVIE, ALL recorded in a cutscene, if story is the only thing you want just watch TH-cam "Xenoblade the movie" :)
I can definitely get how the first one is overwhelming! I think I felt the same way when I played it for the first time on the Wii! It is ABSOLUTELY worth it. I'll be honest, one of my biggest tips as tedious as it can be is to battle a LOT in the beginning to get used to the combat! Each art accomplishes a different thing in battle and the colors of the arts determine what they do! Once you kind of commit to memory what each one does and get used to Break - Topple - Daze, you kind of start to get into the rhythm of the combat and it starts to feel really fluid. That being said, the battle menu in the first game is messy! After a while, scrolling through arts definitely became more muscle memory! And while this might be obvious, don't forget to upgrade your equipment now and again, because there were many times during my first playthrough that I definitely forgot! But also, please lemme know if you have any questions or need any other tips too! It's a great game and I'm definitely happy to help where I can!😎
@@qualitea_individual Thank you so much for all the advice! I definitely feel like I have to take it slow and steady to begin with, but I feel more hopeful lol. A lot of people say that the first 2 games have a bit more of a learning curve but the third is more approachable! But I really want to get the full experience by playing the games in order! I will definitely let you know thanks! Can't wait to see more reviews :)
Xenoblade 2 has my favourite story by far!… you should give it a try… But I also despised it’s gameplay, sidequest and exploration 😭 which are all soo much better in 3! But I do feel like xenoblade 2 story is worth a watch at least 2 and torna story really shines cause I found the cast of characters and villains much more interesting especially villains are much more integral characters than 3 But 3 is by far the best video game with great story and gameplay
i pretty much agree with everything in the review. i’ve been enjoying my time with xc3 so much so that i’ve decided to 100% one of my save files (this may take a few months). other than the things you pointed out one of my criticisms of the pacing was not having certain skills until later in the game. chain attacks for example were unlocked in the middle of chapter 2 which was about 20 hours in for me. correct me if i’m wrong but i do recall having them as early as colony 9 in xc1. that being said the game still had a good amount of steam leading up to that point though i would have loved to see some of the skills be available a little earlier on.
That's a really good point! Sometimes it felt really weird to be unlocking new features in the game midway through! I get they do that to not overload information, buuuuut still. And yeah, Chain Attacks were available waaaay earlier. That one I don't know why it took a bit to get to in 3. They were holding us hostage from that sweet Chain Attack battle music for too long!
Hard line to straddle for them, as one of the criticisms of these games is how overwhelmed players get with the mechanics, so I think they're just trying to give you a good amount of time to get used to the systems as they come rather than throwing more at you constantly. And thankfully the tutorials in this are WAY better than in XC2, not that there still isn't plenty that isn't explained well enough.
Great review. Especially as it’s your first. The first of many, I hope! Thank you. I’ve been interested in the Xenoblade games for a while now, but as I’m new to RPGs, I’ve been worried about the difficulty of the combat. Being a central part of the games, I’ve been concerned that I won’t be able to progress very far. You’ve convinced me to put my fear to one side and try Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition first. I think I’ll love it! It’s really inspiring to hear you talking about your anxiety. Thank you for being so candid. I hope you’re moving forward positively in 2023. Onwards and upwards! Keep the reviews coming. This one was superb! 👌🙏🏻
Thank you SO much for this comment! It means a lot. I always try to be really honest, not just about my thoughts on games, but what’s going on in my life that could influence those thoughts and feelings. Video games are a special thing and I know others have been in similar places to me, so in sharing my experience with anxiety/depression and how it affects my experiences with games I hope it helps other people feel heard and understood!
Great review. Here's all I will say about the story (anyone who has played will know): Chapter 5. Also, your party will learn classes from battling alongside patty members in that class It got a GOTY nomination for a very good reason
Absolutely! When it was nominated, I honestly freaked out a little! Even though I hadn't played it at that point, the fact that a Xenoblade game was up for GOTY? It was something I never thought I'd see, but it was beyond deserved!!
great review!! yes this game is really2 good especially the opening, i feel like this is the only xenoblade chronicles games that engaged me from the beginning unlike the first two. it is so emotional and yes i wish that there is more romance too esp from the main couple tbh, i just cant get enough of them haha. this review just came on my recommended tab so im glad i found your channel. looking forward for more reviews from u too. subscribed haha
Only played 1 just jumped on 3 cuz of the upcoming future redeemed trailer... Odd but true... So far I'm hooked... Clocked in seven hours in first day...I got the fuzzies to get back on...😊
So while the music in 3 is obviously great, I agree it overall didn't match that of 2. I also felt like after beating the whole game and spending dozens of hours with these tracks, I could not recall the majority of the area themes by memory. The themes of 2 I could recall by memory *instantly* after hearing them once - they are iconic and unforgettable. I think part of that was these tracks being more subtle and understated (or in some areas, I dare say, a liiiiitle generic). But after finishing the game and thinking on it longer, I think the biggest culprit is the menu music, which interrupts the overworld music constantly and disrupts your brain's processing of the overworld tracks. The menu music is one of the best tracks in the game, so I get it, but it short circuited my brain so I couldn't connect with the music. And for the battles? The chain attack theme (again, one of the best tracks in the game!) interrupts every battle theme, so you can't even connect with these properly. Finally, I didn't realize until *way* after I beat the game that every time you fast travel it resets the time to day. I fast travel constantly, and after beating the game I realized I had *never* heard the night themes for multiple areas! Completely bonkers choices from a music standpoint. After spending way more time with the game and buying the soundtrack and spending way more hours with the music, I've grown to love it way more than during my first playthrough. But it took way more time and effort than with 2, and 2 remains my favorite game OST of all time. Final note: Future Redeemed brought back a little more of that XC2 spunk to the music (and vibe and characters) and I loved it.
I'm late to the party but I hope you did go back to XC2. I jumped right into XC2 after playing through XC1(which I consider a masterpiece). At first, I didn't like it. The pacing felt off and the mechanics were so different than 1 that it was just jarring. I'm glad I stuck with it though. After the first couple of chapters the pacing finds its rhythm and the story kicks into overdrive, only picking up speed as it goes. Ending with a finale that really pulls on your heartstrings. I was honestly sad to see it end and I would be hard pressed to say which one I liked more.
