I love how it's just Ecstasy of Gold.
Hehe, that's why my note for this song was "You will know when you hear it", this was mostly a request *for* you, but I love the game too much anyway :D I totally forgot about the actual title of the world map theme, though, thank you!
There's definitely nostalgia for me as Wild ARMs was my first JRPG ever, so it had a very very special place in my heart. The game itself suffered from its publishing time, though, as this one came out in the same time frame like FF7 - and then the remake came out in the same time frame as FF10. So, you can imagine how it went, which is really sad :(
Looking forward to whenever you play it, just for you to get a feeling for it, even if you don't play it to the end - but I do think you will enjoy it :)
I was lucky enough to have the original and Alter Code: F and enjoyed them both immensely
When I saw the name of the video, knowing your love of Ennio Morricone, I was just waiting for that smile of realization. You're going to love Wild Arms.
If the influences weren't being worn on the sleeve before, the world map theme of the first game makes it SO obvious. It's a straight up upbeat Ecstacy of Gold and it's AMAZING for it.
Wild Arms was my first JRPG and I've listened to it's music countless times over the years, but somehow I never knew what the world map theme was called. Thank you for fixing that gap in my knowledge via this! :D
Aaaah I never knew of Ecstasy of Gold! Oh that makes this all so much better. Truthfully never seen the movie either...shame on me for sure, but now I want to even more!
Rewatching here now after listening to Ecstasy of Gold - oh man your smile as soon as you realized it, that's so wonderful. I swear watching your Wild ARMs reactions brings smiles to my face every time
Wild Arms is LOADED with great songs. And it's a good game too.
I see what you did there.
Into the wilderness, Port Town, Adlehyde, Adlehyde Castle, Lone bird in the shire, Zed's theme, Critical Hit, and many moore... Michiko Naruke is genius.
Cute trivia: Wild Arms 3 overworld theme shares the name with this song. This one is called Migrant Birds and WA3 theme is called Migratory Birds since WA3 takes in the WA1 universe.
WA3 also has one of the best female protagonists in gaming. And maybe even the best cast in a JRPG. I love how close-knit they are.
@@Crocogator I don't think the cast is the best, but they are good. And I do think Virginia is a great female lead. Best cast is Xenoblade 1 for me, but Lufia 2 is up there as well.
Jesse's smile as he listens to this song is so infectious. I've only played Wild Arms 2 and 3, so getting to hear this song first through you was a fun experience!
We *really* need to get Jesse to listen to some Boktai tracks.
The moment your eyes starting darting around was great 😂
If you play this game let the title screen go to a cutscene for a cool prologue
Coming back here awhile later - the next day I talked to some clients I was working with, and they further encouraged me to give it a go.
So, a month later or so, you're directly responsible for me finally watching The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly. Thought you may like to know~ wouldn't have done it without these videos.
That standoff at the end, gosh the music goes HARD! Now I've got the rest to catch up on and I'm excited to! Thanks Jesse!
The moment I saw the name of the game and which song it was I couldnt keep from saying "Yes!!!" aloud, the songs in Wild Arms are absolute stunners and the world map theme is just so incredible (and I haven't even played any of the games, while I'm still sure they are fantastic)
Everytime i see Wild Arms in this channel, i have a smile in my face.
There is a remake of the first WA. It’s called Wild Arms Alter Code F. If you dig the original soundtrack, I’d recommend you listen the remake version too (this song in particular is great on remake, it resembles Ecstasy of Gold even more)
Wild Arms is my first RPG ever. Naturally, I'm friggin HYPE for your playthrough of this early PS1 gem. You're in for some musical treat, sir.
Wild Arms is great! Feels great to play, plus yeah, the music and story.
and jesse's "I'm gonna play wild arms" meter grew three sizes that day.
If you love this soundtrack, the folks over at OverClocked Remix have produced a phenomenal remix album, which I would recommend for after your playthrough.
This song is also used in JUMP½(SMW Romhack) overworld map
Thank you for playing Wild ARMS.
Def one of my top 10 fav open world BGM's of all times. They also made a remaster of this game, if you happen to consider a playthrough. Its called Wild Arms Alter Code: F. I believe the sound quality was brought up as well.
I've heard this song in so many Mario Rom Hacks!
My favorite RPG getting a playthrough? Heck yeah! Will be worth the wait, however long it takes you to get there.
If you ever play this game, I recommend playing the ps2 remake called Wild Arms Alter Code F!
Absolutely!
To be honest I am trying to get into Wild Arms. My cup of tea is Wild Arms 2 tho. That game is the first JRPG that I gave my all to finish, being the one I played after entering highschool. One of my friend made his own walkthrough of this game, a true completionist before I watched The Completionist. I spend hours and hours in solving puzzles and grinding for levels. Which is why I dreaded to get into the 1st Wild Arms. I don't know if I have the energy to solve puzzles without checking walkthrough on the internet but I really want to play this game. Heard lots of good things and Into The Wilderness really grabbed my attention. This world map theme is also grandiose and epic. I watched Ecstasy of Gold right before I typed this and I really dig the inspiration.
Also, I want to suggest the theme of Sunset Riders, especially the stage 1 BGM (Shoot Out At The Sunset Ranch). I suggest the arcade version.
I'd like to tell you more about Wild Arms, but I really don't remember anything from it. It was too long ago. But heck yeah, I'll be watching those vods when they hit.
I had played the game before seeing the movie, so when I heard "Ecstasy of Gold", I was shocked. A tip: when you do play, wait past the title screen for some story important stuff.
Gotta be honest. I never got super into Wild Arms. Gameplay, graphics, story... never quite got me as hard as some other PS1 RPGs.
But I still fired it up plenty of times *just* to listen to the music. The intro alone is *chef's kiss*
If anyone wants some more good Wild Arms music, check out Wild Arms 5 - A Muzzle Dancing in Hatred. One of my favorites in the series!
荒野の渡り鳥(ロディのテーマ) is called on Spotifiy
Once Upon a Time in the West is by far my favourite by him, though.
Check field The barren lands from Wild Arms 2 is The map theme , and to The end of The wildernes from wild arms 1
By The way thanks for not letting forgett this awesome videogame music .
Nice more wild arms greatness
If you're planning to play this game I recommend the remastered PS2 version Wild Arms Alter Code: F
The world map theme is the same, but with "remastered" sound and it's called Filgaia.
Fair warning, the original WA is kind of a slog. But that said, I love the series to death and dearly wish Sony would make a new one for PS5 it has been entirely too long since a new WA was released in the west (I think 3 was the last? There have been more since but only in Japan AFAIK)
If you can get past the clunky systems of each game - and believe me they are clunky AF - they are genuinely good times full of lively characters and upbeat music.
3's plot is actually kind of insane.
No actually I think all of them were released here
you should also compare this to wild arms: alter code f since they remix all the original songs. track #5 - filgaia is based on this original soundtrack
if we're being charitable, this song is a pastiche. If we're being honest, it's an amazing copy
Got a interesting song nobody on TH-cam has reacted to Assclamp! By JG Thirlwell if you watched venture bros you know the song well if you've never seen the show you're never heard my favorite action music.
The game is good, but kinda confusing in my mind. I remember being lost at some point.
But I do remember you could rename all your skills whatever tickles your fancy and draw your own combat icones, something that has never been done again to my knowledge.
Concerning the OST, I'm actually listening to it and it's a very diversed one, sometimes very far from the western style.
Wild Arms is definitely one of the most underrated series of all time. The first 3 games are such groundbreaking classics for the JRPG genre and I love them dearly, especially 2nd Ignition. Though, I wasn't a fan of the hex system introduced in 4 and the story and characters fell flat in my opinion. It really felt like they lost their way with the series. Nonetheless I'm positive you'll enjoy your time with these games, and I can't wait to see your journey through it.
So if you play games you like the soundtrack of furi is a good game and it’s relatively short
Did you end up playing it?
Jay Z also stole this song for a rap song on one of his albums entitled Blue print 2 The Gift and Curse
One of these days, you will open yourself up to Sunset Riders. It's inevitable (do the Genesis/MegaDrive version, since it's the best sounding one).
I loved Metallica's cover of this from S&M.
Metallica does a pretty good cover of this song.
The moment your eyes starting darting around was great 😂
If you play this game let the title screen go to a cutscene for a cool prologue
