In hindsight, the breadcrumbs for so many good storylines are being scattered in this episode. I love the parallel between George coming out late in life, enjoying his time with Emmett, and experiencing gay cultural touchstones like dance clubs, and Vera and Granny Faye, who loved each other but weren't able to experience that love as fully as they should have given the constraints of the time period. Lots of ripples in this episode that will be felt episodes and even SEASONS from now. I'm loving your reactions to this so much!

Love how invested in this you are. After watching Fellow Travelers, Vera and Lindsay's Grandma's relationship becomes so real and fleshed out.
Dumpster Boy is a storyline as you guessed - it will be addressed.

We are on the cusp of so many great storylines and reveals. Just watching this episode with you reminded me of what’s to come for each of these and I’m EXCITED to see your reaction. 💜👑🥰

We all got chills for George reading our gang so well too - just all that George is experiencing is such a lovely story arc.

I don't want to spoil anything, but "Dumpster Boy" will be a storyline, that's all I'll say.
Also, little bit of behind the scenes trivia: the man Brian left with at the end is Brian's "Stand-In" actor who they sometimes use for pre-filming to get camera angles set, etc. Did you notice their similar walk away at the end? Hehe, kind of an inside joke that Brian f*cks himself... I'm pretty sure he's also "zucchini man" in the beginning of Season 2

I adore this episode - so many bread crumbs for future episodes and deep dives for gay escapism when no one cares about gay lives being lost - the dark humour and hedonism to help cope with society's disregard. Captain Astro, a gay coded superhero being killed off - reminds me today of all the WLW shows on Netflix that keep getting cancelled after one season. Again, disregard for lgbtqia+ life in wider society even in the depiction in media we consume. And the disregard for Lindsay by her mother of the validity of her relationship with a woman. Everyone like George and Emmett just saying fuck'em and living their fabulous lives regardless.

Captain Astro is an original character for the show, I believe, but certain aspects around the character are based on real things, like Brian's line about Captain Astro and his young sidekick drawing suspicion is probably a nod to the accusations around Batman and Robin that the Comics Code Authority went after, saying it promoted a homosexual lifestyle and worse-.-

Billy, I love your reaction to watching the 10th episode of "Priorities, Please! (Beat the Time)" from the second season of my favorite show, "Queer As Folk" on this video, it came out on Showtime back in 2000 and it ended in 2005, I'm proud of you for that!! 😮 #gay #reaction #lgbt

Biggest difference back than: It was a cocktail of various pills, today it's just one pill daily. Also there's Prep and a few people have even been cured entirely...

Sorry, but "the cocktail" remains the primary treatment modality for 2nd stage infections and beyond. The "total cure" stories are not scientific reportage, and dangerously misleading. Due to HIV's talent for "undetectable" sequestration, it is safer (for partners) to practice the same safety protocols, even with PrEP.
NONE of the medications are like popping a daily vitamin. ALL, including PrEP, have a spectrum of side effects. PrEP must be taken daily without exception. PrEP over time DOES begin to damage the kidneys and skeleton. Progressive kidney damage is no joke, and opens the door to other systemic failures. PrEP can also cause "fatty liver cirrhosis", and trigger the same symptoms and conditions as hepatitis.
The urge to use the "minimization" defense mechanism is dangerous, and interfere with the overall project of eliminating the virus from the population. Imagine. HIV could have been eliminated in one generation. Think. Ask yourself, "Why didn't that happen?" A Polyanna perspective isn't just unrealistic, it's nuts ... and dangerous.
Do we really really want to go back to this, with virus strains that have mutated beyond all treatment ?

Briefly, your medical perspective is ill-informed, and paints a false rosey glow on the science. It will take 10-15 years before it can be said with any confidence that those bare handful of cases are "cures" or sequestrations. Please don't let an overwhelming wish for cures, or for medications to be as unproblematic as vitamins, to lead you into dangerous behaviors.

The character that Michael is based on in the UK version was obsessed with doctor who. Also queer as folk was originally created by Russel t Davies who went on to create new who.
