Tom Silva, Kevin O'Connor and Richard Trethewey drive to the Seaside Victorian Cottage in Rhode Island and reminisce about the many problems faced in the rebuilding of our abandoned house.
Jeff Sweenor is waiting for them outside the house and they talk about the challenges of the project. Tom and Richard excuse themselves while Kevin and Jeff tour the front yard.
Kristen Martone, the interior designer for the project, gives Tom a tour of the second floor to see the master bedroom, closet and bathroom.
Kevin finds Richard checking out the mechanicals in the low headroom basement.
Jeff and Jenn Nawada show off the patio with all the new amenities.
Kevin meets the homeowners, Kassiane and Michael who give him a tour of the living room and kitchen.

I've been watching this program since the very first episode in the 1970's. Lately I've been unable to find it's broadcast time on my local PBS station so I'm very glad it's showing up on TH-cam. And I'm doubly pleased that at the end of this video they mentioned they're going back to the Dorchester neighborhood. It's hard to believe that first project was worth only $16,000 at the start and sold for only $55,000 after renovations. My how times have changed.

Most houses up here in New England and New York have wet basements. The water table gets as high as at the surface when the snow melts, and the only solution is to let it flood in, and pump it out with sump pumps. I haven't seen a dry basement in my area ever.

I was surprised by that, too. We installed one of those Navien heaters about 4 years ago and 1 works fine for our small family. In fact, I hook up a hose to refill our 350 gal hot tub once or twice a year. Easy to decrease the water temp to about 102F from its120F setting and, voila, the spa is filled with hot water within an hour. 3 heaters daisy-chained like that seems a bit much but definitely a setup for a multifamily dwelling, e.g. an apartment building.
