@@frankiekagz It's an unconventional sound that's easier to appreciate when you come from certain backgrounds, i like Marilyn Manson, Empires, Billy idol, and sade, so its a lot easier for me to appreciate what he's doing than someone who ONLY listens to trap, or ONLY listens to r&b. He's in a weird middle ground between 80s pop, outlaw country, and what would become modern emo (the cure, the Smiths) which is why i find him so interesting 🤔 Unfortunately it's the same reason people (both contemporary and modern) think it's terrible. Burl Compton is a great example of art appreciation being an active skill. It takes effort to overcome one's biases to look at a work to see what it's intention was, rather than hating it, because the artist didn't behave as you expected them to. It warms my heart to have gotten so many comments of people who enjoy these songs 🤭👍
40-something years later after being recorded and 34 years after his passing Burls cover is going viral. Imagine someone telling him back then that hundreds of thousands around the world will listen to his long forgotten vinyl in 2024. Thanks for this great cover, Burl and whoever uploaded it!
That guy on TikTok did a good ass job in getting ppl to listen to this song! Can’t wait until 5 years from now when his album gets reissued and released on streaming haha
How is this bad? It's so good. How I wish Quentin Tarantino would use it in his movie
