DO YOU LIKE ANY OF MY OTHER MODS ON MY AUDI A4? If so, I have over 35 more mod videos in my Audi A4 video playlist here: th-cam.com/video/CKUCpb2iQ3E/w-d-xo.html
Hi Flexx, thank you for the video. I got mine working on my 2015 Audi A4 B8.5 with Audi Concert. I figured I'd post this here since it seems there are quite a few people experiencing issues that I did as well. This is for Audi Concert users: 1. Getting sound through once you have it setup is an easy fix. Route the auxiliary cable that is attached to the harness through to your glovebox where your AMI box is. Plug in the provided AMI aux cord into your AMI and then plug the auxiliary port from the harness to the female aux port that goes to your AMI. Boom, now you have sound. 2. The CarPlay module doesn't load when you start your car. It just says, "External auxiliary input connected." You can easily bypass this by holding down the nav button on your steering wheel. You can use this button to go back and forth from your Audi MMI to the CarPlay MMI. 3. The unit doesn't fit behind my radio. This was a tough solution for me. I had to first disconnect everything from my module and then slide it underneath the slot for the radio. Make sure the wifi and dip side faces towards the glovebox. Once you have it in, reconnect all of the cables. Finally, to make it fit, slide the big box on the radio harness in the top corner opposite of your glove box. Push the cables to the back as you slide your radio in. 4. I can't get my microphone to work. I am currently looking for a solution for this... The provided microphone is actually pretty bad so I wanted to try to use my OEM microphone (I believe this is the aux cord that comes out of the harness labeled "mic") however have not gotten it to work. If you have any solutions, please let me know! It wasn't too bad of an install. I had some trouble with the AMI box in the glovebox as you need to remove it to get the last glovebox bolt off. Overall, it has been working really nice. Thank you Flexx!! If anyone else needs help, ask me!
i did the music part but i still have no sound, literally everything else works and i see the apple carplay on my screen but i have no sound. can someone pls help
Great job sir, I took the simple route. The AMI in the glove box, I installed a ignition live feed usb outlet beside it. I run a chrome cast to a hdmi to rcb, it connects to the AMI to RCA. Just had to hide a couple of cables and boom. I can hotspot the phone and cast anything to it. Looks perfect too. Your job probably gives full hd, and touchscreen but it's the easy answer Vs a large bill and lots of unbolting lol alternatively you could use a fire stick etc. If you think hdmi / cast, your imagination/desire is all you require.
@@coolbeans5480 sorry guys, i'm only seeing this now. ok, so you need an ami to rca, off ebay. its about £30. audi don't sell them any more. don't buy the heap one, i did, video didn't work. only audio. So you need the ami connection, mine is in the glovebox. I connected the ami to rca, connected this to a hdmi to rca (correct conversion direction) .. the chromecast goes into this or firestick etc. so the hotspot / chromecast. Your dongle or mobile etc.. Set this to i.e. Quattro S Line (ssid) Password (your own) .. connect this chromecast to the ssid, and youre sorted, the device / phone must be on the same network.. if chromecast, fire stick just needs a connection. i installed a x2 way usb in my glovebox, ignition feed. if you're using it, turn start stop off or the chromecast loses power if you stop, direct live if you wish but you need a switch s it doen't drain the battery. it's dark here, and raining, i'll make a quick video tomorrow
Here's the list of stuff, I'll make a video tomorrow cause it's dark and raining now. eBay item numbers: usb: 184603952409 .. you use a fuse tapper: 384858550227 .. then you get an ami to RCA : 142536716556 .. this connects to a hdmi to RCA: 203223040077 this uses one usb, the other is for the cast/stick. I bored the correct size hole to accept the usb adaptor. Everything else is easy. You take out the glovebox, bore it, wire it, put back in and the rest is just setting up. iPhone didn't like hotspot plus casting.. I use android as it allows both. But currently because of my broadband package they sent me a dongle so I always have unlimited data / WiFi in the car. If you need to set up your Chromecast for the car use your home router, make a custom ssid and password.. make sure the set up is complete.. then set your phone to the exact same ssid / password then when you turn on your hot spot the Chromecast connects to it. If you have an iPhone you'll need a second device to cast, but if a dongle or android phone you can just use that single device.
Let me know if the information makes sense. It's easy to do, and it's a shit lot less expensive than these chunky intrusive car play installs. Oh, and make sure you set the hdmi to RCA to 720p and not 1080p as the screen is 720 x 480 p
Here you go lads . th-cam.com/video/Sgp1CtlQqqc/w-d-xo.html It's a pretty raw video.. no fancy intros etc. But hopefully it explains everything you need to know.
Great explanatory, many thanks. The only thing that's holding me back from buying this is that I like to listen to the radio (FM or DAB) while running navigation. On factory-installed systems, the system mutes the radio automatically when a navigation audio message comes up, and then unmutes it again afterwards. These aftermarket systems, as brilliant as they are, can't do that. Its either the aftermarket CP unit for audio, or the inbuilt unit- no way to blend them.
Great video as always Flexx! I’m one of your loyal MB C-Class followers. I had a quick question about where you go to find where things like the location of the Audi Radio Keys? Personally, I have always relied on your videos to find out these things for my MB. I never would have known to look for those. Thanks again Bro!
Thanks. Look in the video description. Audi dealer wouldn’t sell it to me. Probably cause they didn’t wanna be supplying people with keys just incase radios are being “borrowed” around town. Haha I had to buy them online myself and they worked for my R8 and A4.
Does a setup like this change anything for the little screen in the instrument cluster? I.E the one that has the maps arrows on it when you have maps on?
Just the amazing video I was looking for. As soon as a question came to mind you answered it straight away. Just confirming your steering wheel controls still work as normal right?
Alex thanks for the video, I have the kit on the way to me right now! One question though, are the usb and microphone optional, do you know if the unit would work the same without those connected? I don't have any issues with my inbuilt microphone so far and don't think I might use the usb feature
Hey idk if you know this by now but you don’t have to always scroll, the little black thing in the middle of the thing that you’re scrolling, in B8.5’s it’s actually a joy stick
But how do you have Bluetooth I have the exact same model as you and it didn’t come for Bluetooth for some reason unless you bought an aftermarket plug for it
Uhh. My car came with it. There’s 3 different stock radios for the A4. Even if you have the same model doesn’t mean the radios will be the same. Also, if you bought the car used…the original owner could have custom spec it and didn’t do Bluetooth.
An android screen is light years better than just a CarPlay/android Auto module. It’s way more expensive but it has CarPlay/android auto, it can surf the internet, you have access to so many more apps, larger size, custom features, etc…it’s basically an iPad on your car where’s a CarPlay/android Audi module is just limited to only CarPlay/android auto features. Just finished this install on a 2012 Audi S4 (MMI 3G INFO). CarPlay works great, music sounds good, but I can’t get the mic to work. If I say “hey siri” my phone mic pics up on it and activates the Siri on the CarPlay, but then the mic cuts out and I can’t do any further commands
I hooked up everything juts like the video but the only problem is the buttons and dial on the center console stoped working. I have a 2011 s4 so I’m not sure if there is a change from the b8 to the b8.5. Tried taking everything out and putting it back together but I got the same result. Any ideas?
No issue with the cold. And it has nothing to do with audio cause it’s just a piggyback module onto the oem radio system. You’re better off tapping a line out converter to a speaker wire and using rca’s from that converter to an amp/subwoofer.
Hey 👋 I love your Vids, very informative. Where can I order one of those Modules for my 2012 Audi? Also I love your Carbon Fiber Vent trims we’re can I purchase those?
yes. I have no MMI on my A4 B8.5, and everything is working as before. Also, you can listen to the radio and regular aux with carplay active. But there is another side: when you use steering wheel controls, the car and dashboard don’t know about carplay and show and acts with everything as before (changing stations, showing what it is AUX in use, unused buttons notifications etc. It’s not a critical thing.
Been perfect. Musics awesome, internet is awesome, CarPlay is seemless and I’ve taken calls and people hear me clearly and I hear them clearly. I’m pretty happy with it.
Hi just got mine using your code (thanks for that) but there were no instructions, I have asked the company but not received an answer. Do you have a link to where I can download them and what is the TF card slot for?
Hey, great video and explanation! Does the mirror link mirror all of your apps? Like can you watch youtube and netflix on it aswell? I have an iphone 15.
@@TheFlexxGarage okay that makes sense, so you won't be able to watch a youtube video for example while you are in the mirroring option and standing still on a parking lot for example?
Actually, mirror should mirror everything. But CarPlay will limit apps. But the screen’s android interface itself (not using CarPlay or mirror), can access Netflix and TH-cam. Cause it’s basically an android tablet you can download all the apps you want.
@@TheFlexxGarage okay now it makes much more sense to me. I appreciate your answers and i already ordered one for my a4 b8.5 hopefully it will work with EU cars aswell. Thanks!
Watched your video and ordered this right after. Got it and installed but now I have an issue with the mic. If I try to make phone calls through the android auto, people on the other end just hear a high pitch noise. Have you had this issue? Is there any way to just use oe application instead of having this mic sticking out? I already checked to make sure connection on module is good. Any tips are appreciated
Not a dumb question. I always do when working with electronics. No matter how good someone is at installs, if you accidentally connect the wrong wires or accidently dropped a tool that touch 2 metal parts that have power, you can blow your whole system and also could get shocked or start a fire.
Just installed this . There are some big things that are missed. First, getting the usb through is a Huge PITA. not many good spaces to run that thru. There is a spot that is in the panel right of the wheel well. I got the mic up no problem. Second, to get AA voice recognition working, you need to go into settings and set the microphone to external, not original manufacturer. Third, getting the glove box down is a biotch.... 5/16 nuts. Getting it back up.... Not so easy.
It did but it’s not going to tell you what wire on your car is what. It’s will just give you a diagram of what wire on the module will connect to. It will say this wires go to your CD cable and this to your Aux cable. It’s up to you to figure what’s what on your car. Most of everything I install “should” be installed by a reputable shop but if you wanna tackle it yourself…1) you have my videos or 2) you gotta figure it out on your own.
@@TheFlexxGarage Risk you take when installing aftermarket products especially when DIY because you don’t want anybody else taking your car apart. Case in point, I installed my 12.3 android touch screen from DMP Car Design on my 2016 Mercedes E400. No instruction or illustration what goes where. Although DMP did provide very good customer support and folks like you who share their install videos helps a lot. Only issue I have with my screen, someone calls and I answer while in carplay mode I cannot hear the caller. However, caller can hear me. So, I must tell caller I’ll call right back. Turn off carplay call back using vehicle bluetooth feature which is annoying. Did install complete with mic as per videos and DMP guidance. Don’t get me wrong DMP provides lots of very nice cool products for your car. Bought many other items from them in the past. Detailed illustration and instructions would be very nice.
Hey I have a question, so my bluetooth & nav are stuck in “Initializing please wait” I’ve tried resetting, no luck. Im looking to buy this, Will everything the car play etc still work properly since my actual media isn’t functioning ? Thanks !
It’s possible. If I were you, I’d email DMP directly and tell them what you have. They’ll let you know exactly what you would need to retrofit a backup cam and Bluetooth. They do this stuff all day long at their shop.
Great video - easy to understand and follow. I have a 2013 Audi A4 Premium. There is no aux cable in the glove box, but there is an AMI input. I've watched the youTube video and it mentions that you need an aux input. Could you please let me know which version I need and if the "CarPlay for Audi A4 MMI 2 3 3G 3G+ Android" Mirroring option is the one I need? I have the Audi Concert (the Low Spec version) radio. Also, where do I get the radio removal keys? Do those come in the kit? Thank you for the help.
So I can have easy access to the port if I need to update the software on the screen or upload music. I can always run the usb port somewhere else that’s more hidden but I don’t care.
Hello Alex, I bought a MB 300 2017 C300 W205 and it did not come with the rear speakers. I need to know the type of speakers it has and if you can send some images. I've been looking at the manual of the car but it doesn't have that information. Cheers
hi, I have the following problem. I have no sound. I don't have an aux connection. The AMI system shows me errors when I plug in an aux. still no sound. what can I do ?
Huh? All CarPlay does is display whats on already on your phone. It has nothing to do with an internet connection. It needs to connect using BT/WiFi so it can display the image from your phone and the audio from your phone. You do know that WiFi connection doesn’t mean “internet connection”? WiFi is just another form of wireless connection but it can support more data flow than Bluetooth. And that’s how CarPlay allows your phones screen to be displayed on the car’s screen. Your phone is what needs to be connected to the internet using the data package from your phone company. And then the visual/audio info from your phone flows through BT/Wifi connection to the cars screen.
Can the CarPlay plug in the passenger side the red plug be used with the ambient lighting at the same time or would there be an issue with the lighting or CarPlay controls?
Yes. That’s how I have it now. I don’t remember but it’s the CarPlay or the ambient that has an extra port so you can piggyback both plugs to the canbus (red) port.
Dmp is going to fix the listing by adding some images. If you have a control wheel near the shifter like my car…you pick high spec. If your control wheel is on the actual radio above the heater controls…then you pick low spec.
My mechanic done something similar for me, but now when through AUX, my right door sound is very weak compared to the left. It's okay if I connect Bluetooth directly though, so it's not the speaker. My mechanic said it's normal for Audi AUX port, do you have any idea?
dont know. Never had that issue. It could just be a crappy AUX cable and that's why the left signal sounds weak. I've had defective headphone that would have one weak side than the other, and it's always a bad 3.5mm aux plug that's the issue.
Im not sure. I’m pretty sure DMP sells backup cams that works with it. You just need to contact them and ask. All their info is in the video description.
I am currently installing this same unit in my 2013 a6 and I have completed setup but there is no audio thru carplay, only thru the oem bluetooth. Any thoughts?
My current radio on my 12 a4 is locked as in no sound but the screen works fine will this bypass that issue? I hear audi charges alot to reprogram a radio
You can plug the red oem connector into the expansion connector on the CarPlay harness. Then plug the CarPlay connector to the expansion connector for the ambient harness. Then plug the ambient connector to the car. Simple.
Yes. Go to the link in the description and look for the screen for your cars year, make, and existing style of radio so you can get the right kit for your car. P
No. Just piggy back the screen’s canbus plug into to the ambient canbus connector expansion port. I didn’t show in the video because a lot of people will install the screen without having an ambient kit.
I have a problem with mine, android auto wont start unless I connect my phone with an usb port. when the android auto it wont play music through speakers. it wont play any kind of sound even if I just open youtube. when I connect to the car's bluetooth itself, then the music can be heard
Had same issue . For me I had to connect the aux in and aux out that came with it . If you don’t have that you can also rewire the factory antenna right into the red (power) wire
I bought one for my a4 with the concert radio, after installation none of my buttons work to control the display. It’ll connect and display my music automatically but I have no sound and my dial doesn’t work. I can switch back to my factory radio and hear it but the display just remains on CarPlay music screen. Any suggestions?
I have a 2014 a4 base model with what I believe is 2G ami (says “Audi concert” on radio, only one knob and four buttons to control media, nothing down below by the shifter). If I get this and adjust the switches on the module accordingly, would it work on my car?

Hi just got mine using your code (thanks for that) but there were no instructions, I have asked the company but not received an answer. Do you have a link to where I can download them and what is the TF card slot for?
Hey, great video and explanation!
Does the mirror link mirror all of your apps? Like can you watch youtube and netflix on it aswell? I have an iphone 15.
Certain apps won’t show up, especially apps that can distract a driver while driving. That’s an Apple CarPlay program issue, not the screen.
Any tips are appreciated
where did you order it from and the kit product?
Probably a dumb question but are you disconnecting the battery or nah??
Nicely Done..👍 Did that kit come with instructions??
Fantastic
I have a question do you think that will work on my audi a5 2012 am just curious before I buy it
Yes. You just need to put in your cars year and model in the link along with what your stock radio looks like.
Does the MMI matter which one? Like Audi multimedia etc?
I believe it does. It’s detailed on the product page on DMP’s website. Link is in the description.
Hey I have a question, so my bluetooth & nav are stuck in “Initializing please wait” I’ve tried resetting, no luck. Im looking to buy this, Will everything the car play etc still work properly since my actual media isn’t functioning ? Thanks !
So I have the stupid Audi concert version. Is it possible to add backup camera and Bluetooth with this mod.
You need to ask DMP on the version. And everything else was answered in the video and I left links to the keys in the video description.
Why do you need a USB port to stick out near accelerator?
So I can have easy access to the port if I need to update the software on the screen or upload music. I can always run the usb port somewhere else that’s more hidden but I don’t care.
Hello Alex,
I bought a MB 300 2017 C300 W205 and it did not come with the rear speakers. I need to know the type of speakers it has and if you can send some images. I've been looking at the manual of the car but it doesn't have that information.
Cheers
Hi, did you have any issues with this module sucking battery even when car is off?
No
hi, I have the following problem. I have no sound. I don't have an aux connection. The AMI system shows me errors when I plug in an aux. still no sound. what can I do ?
I wonder if you can use hotspot or overall data for the internet ect. cuz its confuses me that I have to connect like BT and WiFi at the same time
Will this work for the A5 2010 and what spec did you choose ?
Yes. There’s a kit for your car. You just need to go to the website and enter your model.
Nice
other then mirror mode can i play video to the car or will it shut off while driving like the factory system?
Good question. I don’t know. I will try it with a video on a usb stick and report back in a few days.
what does the website want with audi spec? what does this mean?
Dmp is going to fix the listing by adding some images.
If you have a control wheel near the shifter like my car…you pick high spec. If your control wheel is on the actual radio above the heater controls…then you pick low spec.
they need to know whether your car has the upgraded mmi option or if its the base version without navigation
will this work with the b8.5 audi a4 base model?? excellent vid btw.
Yes. It works with almost any a4 radio (no matter which version or package you have). Just go look at the link and enter your model.
Will work for a6-2015?
Thanks for posting the video - if there any change is music sound quality using the module?
No
will this work on a 09 a4 quattro ?
Yes
Can you please link the aftermarket mic that you used?
Huh? It’s part of the kit
hello i wanna ask, where u get the black splitter on ur front foglamp?
Go to my Audi playlist, the video is there with details.
can you make a video about review of this system , what problems you face
Not making one because I had zero issues. The system worked amazing! But I already upgraded to an android screen for more features. Video coming soon.
Do you happen to have a link for your plate mount? The one I bought was too short, even though it said it was for my car. I had to mod it out.

@@TheFlexxGarage Yup, thanks so much.
Will this system work on an "Audi Concert" radio?
You need to go to the link and see if the concert is supported. All the details are there.
Does this unit work on the stander mmi system. Without the center console controls
Maybe. Look at DMP’s website linked in the description. It should which radio it worked with.
I need help finding this item for my 2015 a4.. where will be the best n most cheapest place to get it from ?
As mentioned in the video, look in the video description.
How come yours starts up directly on the carplay, instead of audi mmi then toggling to carplay like mine ?
It’s in the settings. It can be setup to auto connect and CarPlay launches immediately.
@@TheFlexxGarage in the carplay settings or the phone settings ? I cant find the option

Theres 3 different choices for b8 at the same price, how do they differ from each other?
It’s based on which oem radio you have. If you have more questions, contact DMP car design. They can easily help you pick the right one.
Hey can you connect this to a back up cam?
Im not sure.
I’m pretty sure DMP sells backup cams that works with it. You just need to contact them and ask. All their info is in the video description.
Does this work even with an a4 that does not have bluetooth?
Yes. Cause the screen will have its own Bluetooth receiver.
Would this work on a 2010 audi a4 quattro?
Yea
I am currently installing this same unit in my 2013 a6 and I have completed setup but there is no audio thru carplay, only thru the oem bluetooth. Any thoughts?
No clue. Did you buy the kit from my sponsors over at DMP? If so, they provide 100% technical support on their products.
@@TheFlexxGarageI will be buying this soon and using your code, hope I have no issues!
Did you find a solution? Mine only worked when plugging in the aux into it self but the sound isn’t the beat
My current radio on my 12 a4 is locked as in no sound but the screen works fine will this bypass that issue? I hear audi charges alot to reprogram a radio
Did yu fix it ?
Okay I did the process but my buttons by the gear shift doesn’t work 😢 any ideas what it can be?
No clue. Did you buy the kit from my sponsors DMP car design? If so, just reach out to them and they can provide support.
The kit come with the module?
Everything you see in the video is what’s included. If something is not included, then I would state in the video that it’s not included.
9:10 this connector Is also needed for ambient lights how can I have both of them? Apple CarPlay and ambient light
You can plug the red oem connector into the expansion connector on the CarPlay harness. Then plug the CarPlay connector to the expansion connector for the ambient harness. Then plug the ambient connector to the car. Simple.
@@TheFlexxGarage thank you so much
Do u think it will works on my 2011 audi a4
Yes. Go to the link in the description and look for the screen for your cars year, make, and existing style of radio so you can get the right kit for your car. P
🔥🔥🔥
Does it work on 2012 audi s5
Yeah. As long as you don’t have the old radio with the CD changer. Just go to the link and look.
Abient lighting stop working?
No. Just piggy back the screen’s canbus plug into to the ambient canbus connector expansion port. I didn’t show in the video because a lot of people will install the screen without having an ambient kit.
Can you connect to it with android phone?
Look at the title of the video. It’s both CarPlay and Android Auto. I don’t have an android phone so I can show it.
Funktioniert es beim Audi A4 2008 Modell?
Ja muss nur das richtige Kit auswählen
Does this use Bluetooth or does it have to plug in
Wireless connection
Don’t know. You need to contact your reseller for tech support. If it’s my sponsors DMP, then they can help you 100%. You just need to contact them.
Did you get it fixed. I also have the same a4 with concert but screen is not coming on
@@joshuamaharaj8140 mee to do you know how to fix?
I just bought car with limcet box but when i hit media it just blank, anyone know how to fix it?
Will this work with audi a5 2008?
Yes. Go to the link in the description and look for the one for your car.
I have a 2014 a4 base model with what I believe is 2G ami (says “Audi concert” on radio, only one knob and four buttons to control media, nothing down below by the shifter). If I get this and adjust the switches on the module accordingly, would it work on my car?
Yes. It will work.
Hey, awesome video! Do you know what the bolts/screw sizes are for the glovebox?
Thanks!
I believe (don’t quote me)…they’re 8mm screws.
@@TheFlexxGarage Okay awesome, so they're screws and not bolts?
I went ahead and purchased it using your code!
It’s a screw with a hex head
How many miles are on the car now?
Maybe like 45,000 miles. I think I bought it with 33,000 or 35,000 miles. It’s been like 30 months since I had it…I think.
