Thanks for the video but what if the 10v analogue output does not go all the way down to 0v but idles around 0.1v when the speed is set to 0.

Should not be an issue. FWD and REV outputs should command the spindle drive on and off. You don't explain your application

@@martyscncgarage5275 I have a DYN4 going in to the 10v analogue output on the acron board but because i can't get the voltage donw to 0v the spindle servo is always going round just a tiny bit.

@@martyscncgarage5275 It can be adjusted in the DeadZone i managed to get it working.

Great, you should do a video on how you accomplished that.

Thanks for the video Marty! I have my Acorn directly connected to the analog signal input of a Minarik PCM DC spindle drive and it seems to be working fine, but you mentioned I need a signal isolator between them. Can you please elaborate on that?

You risk damaging Acorn. Acorn was not designed to do what you are trying to do.

Do you know if your drive has signal isolation for it's signal inputs? Contact Minarik

The Minarik manual says "the drive may be wired to follow an (0-12vdc) analog input voltage signal that is either isolated or non-isolated from earth ground". There does appear the input signal is immediately routed through a signal transformer upon entering the PCB. Is there a 2 wire isolator you recommend for the Acorn? I don't see this mentioned in the Centroid schematics or manual. Thanks!

oops, typo, that should read 0-10vdc.

Well it says you can use either. Only difference is Acorn only supplies a 0-10VDC signal. Hit the Centroid User Forums. There is a stand alone signal isolator available from KB Electronics. Search for Author DICKYBIRD. I would probably change to the KB Electronics Drive KBIC-120 or KBIC-125 and the SI-5 Signal Isolator. Sometimes you can find them together on Ebay for less than a $100.

Marty, I have run the test and every works fine with the Acorn, I tried hooking my spindle motor to the analog output from Acorn and got nothing. It turns out my spindle motor requires 110 v dc which the Acorn cannot supply. Do I need a VFD? if so, do you have any recommendations?

thanks for the info. good video. what kind of signal isolator is needed to run a DC motor?

Depends on the DC drive you use. Check with the manufacturer
