The Chargers name and logo was created and originated in Los Angeles with a USC L.A.Memorial Coliseum historical connection and Tommy Walker aka”Tommy Trojan”and then owner Barron Hilton. The Chargers name originated from the USC football games and Tommy Walker aka (Tommy Trojan) famous historical Charge chant he created “Da Dah Dah Da“ Charge! “Da Dah Dah Da Trojans Warriors Charge! Tommy Walker then musician /team kicker helped inspire then owner Barron Hilton “R.I.P.” to name the Chargers football team from the famous Charge chant he created as a USC musician band member /team kicker. When Barron Hilton attended the USC football games the previous years as a football fan at the L.A.Coliseum he would hear the Tommy Walker Charge chant. When Tommy Walker would run out to the football field to attempt the extra point kicks as the team kicker the USC team music band would play Tommy’s Charge chant he created as the team musician and the football fans that attended the games would yell out his Charge chant “Da Dah Dah Dah Da” Charge! “Da Dah Dah Da “Trojan Warriors Charge! to motivate him to score the extra point kicks. So that’s where Barron Hilton got inspired and got the idea to name the Los Angeles Chargers football team. The proof is in the Chargers 1960 original shield logo with the horse charging into battle. The Charger is a horse charging into battle. very similar to the USC Trojan Warrior with shield and sword and horse mascot charging on to the field to battle. Hence the horse in the Chargers 1960 original shield logo. The lightning bolt idea came from Barron Hilton liking the Air Force College football team lightning bolt logo as a College football fan. Till this day that famous Charge chant is heard at the game’s and through out many other sporting game events. The Los Angeles Chargers r the true original L.A. born team now back playing in the original birthplace and not too many team’s can claim that fact. Rams were born in Cleveland 1936 and Raiders were born in Oakland 1960 And that’s a fact these other teams can’t ever claim. And also the Chargers r the true Southern California NFL team because they have never left Southern California unlike the Cleveland/ST.Louis Rams and the Oakland/Las Vegas Nevada Raiders. Let’s Go Los Angeles Chargers The true original L.A. born team now back playing in the original birthplace L.A. Da Da Dah Dah Da Charge!!! ⚡️🐴 🏈 Born in L.A. in 1960 and played their first season ever in Chargers history at the L.A.memorial Coliseum finishing the season with a 10-4 record. Da Da Dah Dah Da Charge!!! …⚡️🐴 🏈
I lived 3 blocks down the street from the Coliseum during the Pete Carroll/trojans era. Never went inside. But tailgating was next level. Never an excuse to be hungry!! Lol
New years 2009, together as one(huge rave)happened in and around the sports arena part of exposition park. So naturally they used the area inside The gates of the colosseum as parking for venue staff, like security, vendors etc. well a friend of ours was working security with csc that night and gave us a ride, was parked inside the colosseum. Which I thought it was so cool when we parked. Thinking we were vips. Well the crazy part was coming back to the car. Mind you yes I was on lsd, amongst other things and this was when the raves went on until 4 am. So ya, we’re getting back to where we were parked and my buddy is saying he’s gonna take a while to clock out and whatever. When we get closer to the coliseum we start to notice how foggy it was in te direction we needed to go. But by the time we get to the car it was such a dense fog that you couldn’t see anything past 10 yards. I start exploring a bit cause the eta was over an hour, and We were parked directly in front of one of the tunnels for lower seats. When I tell you, the energy I felt Walking down that tunnel was incredibly intense. It felt Exactly how it did for the falcons vs rams playoff game, for Real Madrid vs The LA Galaxy, Barcelona vs Chivas de Guadalajara, the lakers parade in 09, even edc both 2009 and 2010. Vutt if the stadium was pretty much empty. It was insane man
Awesome stadium. On the nfl side, home to the raiders and rams at various times over the years including the present day. Although the Rams will move into their own new stadium. Despite people’s complaints about the luxury boxes, the coliseum does look terrific after the renovation! All arenas get renovated, see Fenway wrigley or Lambeau. Those that don’t, such as Yankee stadium, get turned to dust…
All of that is nice. But what the hell. It lost 16,000 seats😱. It holds so little compared to what it once did. And worst of all, now UCLA has the biggest stadium in Calif.
In 1960 the Los Angeles Chargers win 52-28 vs The Oakland Raiders at the L.A.Coliseum. Then again in 1960 the L.A.Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders at Candlestick stadium in San Francisco. Los Angeles Chargers 41 Oakland Raiders 17 Da Da Dah Dah Da Charge!!! ⚡️🐴 🏈
Al Davis copied the Los Angeles Chargers 1960 original shield logo. Al Davis was part of the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff 1960 birth season through 1962. Al Davis then left the Chargers coaching staff in 1962 to become the manager of the Oakland Raiders in 1963. Al Davis obviously copied the the 1960 L.A.Chargers original shield logo and added it to the Oakland Raiders pirate logo in 1963 because coincidentally the original 1960-1962 Oakland born Raiders pirate team logo didn’t have the shield logo in their original birth year of 1960-1962 until Al Davis joined the Oakland Raiders in 1963 then added the shield logo to the pirate logo. Originally, Wrestlemania VII was supposed to take place in there but then, it took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena which hosted about only 16, 000+ people.
My grandpa just told me recently that he was there at the LA Coliseum to see FDR in 1935! He was 10 years old and he's 97 now!
What a historic stadium and now the 2028 Summer Olympics to add to its legacy.

That's a legendary place. Historical. I'd love to see that place host another Super Bowl. Boxing ad well.
Soon And I mean Very Soon NASCAR will leave their mark on the LA Memorial Coliseum
I saw footage once of a parade around the stadium floor with tanks and troops to celebrate the end of WWII, but haven't been able to find it since.
That would be something I would like to watch
Why would they put the baseball diamond off-centered like that? 2:04 The left field home run wall, seems shorter than 200 feet?
I lived 3 blocks down the street from the Coliseum during the Pete Carroll/trojans era. Never went inside. But tailgating was next level. Never an excuse to be hungry!! Lol
....and here we have the Los Angeles Chargers once again!
Who remembers Electric Daisy Carnival in 2010? 🫶🏼
So fortunate to have watched an NFL preseason game there. I love the history and the architecture it boasts.

Garcetti blew the OJ trial when he was DA.
That his dad

RAMS and raiders belong nowhere.
Hockey is next
hosted 1982 Speedway world final won by Bruce Penhall.
Excellent little documentary, marred only by the presence of the empty suit Eric Garcetti.
What about WATTSTAX?
Brock lesnar made his MMA debut at the coliseum too. K1's Dynamite!!! USA in 2007 iirc.
The only NFL perfect season by the Miami Dolphins was solidified in that great old stadium.
All of that is nice. But what the hell. It lost 16,000 seats😱. It holds so little compared to what it once did. And worst of all, now UCLA has the biggest stadium in Calif.
It’s more intimate than before, and the Rose Bowl is shit.
Even with the upgraded seats, The seating is still shit.
And east coasters say that California has no culture or history.
You forgot something! Namely the most important event. (August 18-26, 1923).
It's a shame the Rams left there. The sun was always shining in this historical venue.
Yeah, but have you been to Sofi stadium? It’s state of the art!
So good they could remove seats and history to add luxury boxes for very wealthy...You tear down paradise and put up a parking lot
Fantastic and unique looking stadium in the US.

WWE should do a WrestleMania there
Originally, Wrestlemania VII was supposed to take place in there but then, it took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena which hosted about only 16, 000+ people.
Yeah because they failed to sell out 100,000 only selling out 16,000 seats
