If you take it as a standalone series, it’s quite good, but if you want to sit on every single word token ever wrote, it’s not exactly canonical.
Unfortunately, the Star Wars fandom is the same. They only like the first so many core movies in anything after that is blasphemy. These Fandoms are pretty much religions in their own right, and they will fight and excommunicate each other over silly things like this.
Unfortunately, it looks like the Harry Potter fandom, which used to be very kind and welcoming, is now doing the same thing with the new HBO series it’s not even out yet, and people are being very cruel to actors who haven’t even had a chance to portray the character yet.
