- The Thai military and police have a new salute, but getting it right takes a bit of practice... and looser cut trousers.
We can't explain why one group of soldiers flick to the right, while the second group, the King's guard, and the police all flick to the left.

What. The. Hell. I am a vet and (medicaly) retired law enforcement officer. This has to have been the dumbest thing I have seen in....a long time. No...ever. I will not comment on their parade drill, or wearing a sword with camouflage, but that salute is not only pointless, it seems far from ceremonious and does not convey respect, which is exactly what a salute is supposed to do.

The police's clothes are very tight. That's why they have problems performing that. They might want to switch over looser uniforms.
Fully agree. I’m Thai, I have seen older officers walking with their tight ass uniform my whole life, and it’s not pleasant to the eyes at all. Those tight uniform only look good on them for like a year when they graduated from the police academy

From a U.S. military person that has worked with many international coalition (like NATO) militaries, my understanding is that every part/section of a salute has a meaning and origin. With this, I guess, I can get the after holding the hand salute pressing out one's chest could be that is a sign of "pride" in ones country and military. I simply do not get the quick head and eye shake. Very unique...

As a Thai Reserve Officer Training Corps Student I really like this salute style, whenever there is a fly or debris on my face I can just do a salute and they will get away from my face. We can't move while we standing that's why I like this salute XD

What the actual fuck? Is this really new? I was in the Thai reserve army 4 years ago and I've never heard of this. We already march funny and have badly composed military music. Are they seriously going to top that off with this ridiculously stupid salute now?
Sturm 51 made me lol at badly composed military music. Thank god finnish army kept it simple and it was somewhat ok to listen music while either freezing to death or frying to death bechause someone thought that thick cotton jacket is great summer honor guard gear

Not really. I'd call them a really bad attempt of translating traditional Thai music into military marching songs. Imperial Japan did that too with their traditional music, albeit masterfully imo.
