  • Found an old Sears X-Cargo and decided to fix it up to use and mount on any vehicle. So did a little restoration on it and made it as good as new. Only about a day long process most of the work was prepping everything for paint. Went through and put all new hardware on because the old hardware was too rusty.
    Enjoy!

    Finally he gets a decent size grinder for the rails!

      Used the dye grinder for the parts with more pitting, so as to not take too much metal away. Rest of the rails where it looked good I used the angle grinder.

    Can you tell me where you purchased the straps, strips for the bottom, and any other hardware please? I have had one of these for probably 30 years and am ready to put it back into operation. I'm having trouble identifying what type of hardware is necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

      I use Las Totally Awesome degreaser and some of the harder stuff to get off I use lacquer thinner. I just use spray cans and it was from the brand Krylon.

    Thanks... I am building a motorcycle trailer using an older one of these and planning a similar restoration... This was helpful... I see you used Krylon paint.... Is it just standard Krylon or something specially made for plastic? Thanks again

      I used the Regular Krylon I have found it to be my favorite as far as plastic paints. I do believe that they have a plastic specific paint as well! Good luck and enjoy the project!

    What hardware kit did you buy or use?

    • @StegoJutter
      @StegoJutter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had extra hardware just from miscellaneous projects

    • @StegoJutter
      @StegoJutter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My recommendation is to get an assorted set of hardware that’s where I originally began but every project I do I keep anything that can be repurposed or reused!

    this shit bums me out. the funny snail logo is over half the reason for buying one of these boxes.

    • @StegoJutter
      @StegoJutter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This one never had the snail on there, at least since I picked it up from sitting in a field, they didn’t all have the snail either but this one was pretty dirty and needed a good bit of TLC.

      I just bought one of these from an old lady on Facebook super cheap. planning to paint it black because it's in bad shape. It does still have the snail stickers on it hopefully with a hair dryer and a razor blade I can get it off in one piece to put it back on after it 🤞🏻

      I like to use krylon I find it, goes on plastics well.

    Hey, for the amount of time you spent using that dremel, even at minimum wage figures.. I'd have suggested just picking up a cheapo drill or angle grinder, and a wire brush attachment. Would've gone MUCH faster and gotten better results.

    Constructive criticism: I was hoping you'd show how to retrofit the hardware, specifically the struts. Didn't need to see you cleaning and painting.
