I'm from Germany and had this chair being a baby - 27 years ago. This year I'm going to be a first time mom in july and we are lucky to use my old Stokke! ☺️ My parents kept them over the years. Thank you for your videos, they really help me to mentally prepare for motherhood!
Love the chair and sharing, doing a great job/things mumma! I think i kinda felt the same, just a little adhoc post baby, so now 10wks wrote a flexible plan for me, this also helps shopping, minimising food waste and increased nutrition for me. Less stress and mental load too. Know you will be just fine!!!
I have the same chair for my babe. Had it since she was born with the newborn attachment. No regrets even if it’s expensive. She’s 6.5 months old now, we just started with purées, eventually will switch to blw combo. Good luck with Rook! 🇨🇦
Never related to something more in my life! You’re doing such a good job. So glad I stumbled upon your channel today. We have a 1 1/2 year old baby boy, did baby led weaning and i’m still breastfeeding but he has done so good with little effort! BLW is so awesome! He’s such a good eater and he’s never chocked. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself! Listen to your mama gut. You are such a good mama! I love the matching shirts!
Our daughter is a couple weeks older than Rook. At first, we wanted to stick with BLW. But I am hard on myself, anxious about choking, etc. I also didn't eat regularly & would push it off, now I have a schedule and eat with her. I keep purees on hand (I make them and freeze them) and it helps alleviate the stress. Also having oats with pb on hand helps because if I feel overwhelmed I have something super simple ready. We do a mix of puree and BLW and it works well for us. Also if I make her eggs (or anything), I make a big batch and have leftovers for days to come/can freeze it. It's now exciting for us & I've also been trying new foods. Wishing you luck!
Girl! Bagels are the best, get some topping options so it’s nutritious in different ways. That way you can still have your routine but you get in more than bread and butter.
Baby led weaning for the win! Avocado, banana, and other soft foods are great starters. I also always gave my kids what ever I was eating. I also started eating better when I had to feed babies. And yes now they're 3 & 6 and will eat everything I offer. Although my 6 year old has started to get slightly picky.
I make kombucha! It’s really easy and cheap! I would highly recommend using passionfruit juice during the secondary fermentation! Everyone loves it even people who hate kombucha!
About kombucha, I LOVE Kevitas Pineapple Peach one! So good! Also, I'd love a BLW video! I'm interested in it, but haven't started reading about it yet!
He is so adorable !! Awesome honesty about your bad relationship with food lol baby led weaning is something I’d love to learn more about for my boy due in March.
It’s also a way more aesthetically pleasing high chair and not an eyesore. I think if you have a smaller and minimal space , your items are more curated.
Could you do a video for low income parents, what are some good products for low income parents, where to shop, more information and resources for low income parents!
I actually also just got my baby a new high chair for this very same reason. It’s good you are spreading this message definitely wasn’t something I knew until later
I just started following you yesterday! Hoping to learn from you! My baby is 4,5 months old and the doctor gave me rice cereal and said I can start feeding. It's such a stress for me! I thought I would have time until he is 6 months :/
I bought the cheap Ikea Antilop Highchair and added a foot rest that is sold by a third party. It was way cheaper. The Stokke chair looks really nice but the price point is ridiculous! I enjoy your videos a lot!
It is always so funny to me to see the Stokke/TripTrap chair being special, because I grew up with it and so did all my friends. Its almost special to have a different one. I must say that it's simply the best investment, I sat in mine and now my baby boy sits in it 20-30 years later, depending on when you count from. Used it all my childhood and can't wait for my boy to grow up with it! We used the newborn insert and loved having him at the table too. Just started purees (he's 4.5months) and he feels so proud sitting in his chair. Ps purees and spoon is definitely also messy if you have a child who loves exploring things with their hands ;)
I got a little info from this video that I am happy with. Rook has such a personality that is adorable. Your videos have made me feel like I'm ready (and slightly impatient) to be a mom. Keep up the awesomeness.
Laughed at the start of the vid because I was watching while eating the same breakfast I have every morning (porridge and coffee btw). Love those Tripp Trapp chairs I keep thinking about getting one for my nearly five year old. They're meant to be good for keeping even older kids sitting well at the table.
Cannot overexaggerate my excitement that you got a TRIPP TRAPP! Though Swedish, they are definitely a staple in every German family. My mother being German my sister and each had one despite growing up in the UK. We aren't ttc yet, but I can't wait to retrieve mine from my mother's attic when the time is finally here!! Best thing you'll ever buy. Hands down. Also love your videos so much and will be taking your advice when it comes to curbing the masses of baby gear! Xxx
Just sent my comment telling about our Tripp Trapp chairs! As you said, growing up in Germany this was such a common chair. I'm going to be a first time mom in summer and I'm so happy my mom kept my Tripp Trapp. ❤️
I make kombucha! Well Jun which is made with raw honey and green tea rather than sugar and black tea. Josh should totally do it, it's fun to try different flavours my favourite is mango
Don't stress and overthink about the food. You care about your baby and you'll do just fine! Babies at that age don't need alot and may do better with smaller meals here and there. I do baby led weaning with my son and as long as the pieces are small enough or smashed he'll be fine. I also don't have strict meal times for our family because that really stresses me out. One thing that has really helped me is the instant pot, especially with my baby. I always make sure to have some chicken/veggies and rice or something like that made ahead and the instant pot is so fast and easy. It's great for us that are overwhelmed by meal planning and cooking 😊 best of luck to you and baby with this transition
OMG you gave me major kombucha cravings!! Every time I go home to Montreal I spend so much money on it, especially this brand - love their turmeric one!! It's not a big thing here in Berlin surprisingly :( Also, have you tried whole wheat English muffins? I love to toast them until nice and crispy and eat them with either butter (not so nutritious) or peanut butter and banana or jam! ☺️
I really enjoyed this video. I’m a first-time mom to a 2 month old and I’ve been thinking a lot about how to introduce different foods to him when he’s about 6 months. This video was super helpful
Great video. I can relate to this and haven't even had my baby yet (due next week 😱, with my first) I'm not very good at eating the right things either. I'd be happy to just throw anything together, where as what I should be doing is having proper meals, (which I do) but more often, and to try to eat more fruit and veg. Love your channel, from the UK 😃 x
We have a bar height table too. How do you like the new chair for feeling like Rook is included in family meals? That's my goal for my baby but I didn't see any chairs I liked in the store I went to.
I love this chair for him! It sucks that he’s not at bar high but they just don’t make high chairs that tall. I still feel like rook is involved with meals because he’s right beside us. Plus, if we ever move and have a normal height table, we can remove the tray and scoot him right up to the table 😊
you are such a good mom =) I think so many would just shrug and go buy baby purees from the store but you are pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and finding strategies to do what you feel is best for Rook and that is amazing =)
Hi, I like the Tripp Trapp because of the adjustable foot support. I think your footrest might be a little too low. His legs should be bent at a 90 degree angle, but it looks like his feet are still kind of dangling, only his toes are hitting the board.
I also just got a Tripp Trapp! Do you think the harness is necessary? I noticed you had it but then removed it in the video. That's the only part we didn't get yet since I'm not sure it's really needed.
We didn’t remove the harness but we aren’t using it at the moment. The resources I used said that it’s best to not use it for the first while. They’re too young to crawl out of the seat and it’s easier to remove the child without the straps in case of a choking incident
Where did your get your matching fox tees? I totally am the same way when it comes to research. We are having sleep issues with our newborn. I went took courses, watched TH-cam videos, read blogs etc.

Babies eating can be very stressful but I have a story that will hopefully make moms feel better. I was feeding a baby solids and she started choking and I had to react in the moment without any knowledge of how to save a choking baby but I reacted instinctively did what I thought to do and I got the food out so she was ok. It definitely was terrifying but I got her to he ok without any knowledge of how to do so. My Tripp Trapp high chair for my little came in the mail today! Perfect timing!
You can do sensory water bottles. Use a plastic water bottle and add your water and items and a little glycerin so the items move around more slowly.
