Increadibly well made video! The story of Rob is pretty interesting too, and so is the fact that he didn't release the game until it had the Level editor completely done, despite it beeing the hardest feature of the game to add, as he mentioned. The results are fascinating
Correction at 2:28: I think Civil Engineering is a mistranslated term for "Civilingenjör" in Swedish. This refers a generalized university degree in our country that could encompass any type of engineering. Given that Robert was obviously pretty confident in languages such as C++, I think it's more safe to say he actually studied computer science or similar. Still, the guy is so private I can't find more details even from Swedish sources so who knows 🤨
So what you’re telling me is that the GD community decided that insulting and threatening RobTop won’t get 2.2 out faster, and is now complementing him.
If youre bored, here's an oversimplified version: robtop love platformer, study civilian engineer,go newgrounds brrr, make boomling game, and square game is born
None, none of that would be possible, if it wasn't for one thing: Simple controls. The fact that Geometry Dash uses one button allows to master it completely.
robtop is the most chad developer out there always in chat with the community roasting each other doesn't even bother about constant "rate this" "when 2.2" he just find it fun
If there is a better documentary than this, I wouldn’t believe it. Well described, easy to understand, very creative storyline, very informative and more. In summary, the effort you put into this video and many of your other videos is immense. Keep up the good work!
Great documentary, information and all. Really nice editing and pace throughout. Though I really just have on problem, when you transition into the next part it always used the same music in this video and I really don't know about others but maybe you should use a song more fitting to that theme of topic and if you can't find one, just try to avoid using the same song in general. It's a small change but it really helps the concentration of the viewer in ways people normally wouldn't think about. Other than that, the entire video was pretty good I'd say.
Thanks. I was actually going to use the intro of another one but it transitioned into the main beat too quickly. So I resorted to using this which I already used in my Hardest Parts series. Thanks for the info tho, glad you enjoyed.
Yeah this could be another ''big'' video about geometry dash lore but this is finally something new. You mentioned that he is from sweden and you even mentioned his first game about the ball thingy and this is why this is so good. Also you mixed chapter 6 and chapter 7 it said chapter 6 on chapter 7 also but overall great video! Love from Latvia! 🅛🅥
Very cool video! :3 Lots of stuff I didn't know about, great job! Is it possible to leave link to sources of info such as Rob's mentioned interview about Playerbase & Level editor? Anyways thx for the effort, I subbed!
4:05 amazing to hear someone pronounce our currency "kronor" that good, gj! :) (Also it's a big flex that my little cold country Sweden has the 2 biggest block gqames ever) :D
Bro, I remember playing this game every day back in middle-school whenever I had free time. This stuff was my childhood (at least the parts I remember...)
Congratulations. you have started the video with the word gaming. You should get an award. ... And to Alias we give the "Most Futurly Accurate" Award. I DO NOT CARE if that is a word. or not.
This is a great video. I want to call attention to osu! though, as I feel that for several years it’s taken “community-driven games” to a level beyond what GD has reached. Their entire ranking system, which would be equivalent to GD’s rating system, is decentralized; teams of people with dedicated experience in the mapping community decide which maps get officially ranked, and they have to have been thoroughly reviewed by multiple other community mappers with no official status for errors before they can be evaluated for ranking. Anything official in GD still runs through Rob, but in osu! you can walk into the mapping community and start contributing to ranking maps, and potentially even be elected to share the power to rank maps yourself, without ever meeting the developers. This gets a bit overshadowed as osu! as a game doesn’t really nail accessibility to a broader audience like GD does, but as for the potential for community-run games, I’d say that’s already being capitalized on in other games too, and to an extent, perhaps ever since Valve normalized building full games out of community-made mods of other games, we’ve been reaping the benefits of video game creation becoming more of a shared experience between the developer and their playerbase. To have achieved that to such a scale with a game that started on the Apple platform, though, is probably a monumental first; I’ll give Rob that much.
