Sir I am revisiting this for umpteenth time and it is just fantastic. Every time I gain a new insight there is so much in this. It is so playful, densely creative and truly inspiring. It is like 2 hours distilled into the good stuff. As the kids used to say “ All killa no filla “

Polarity uploaded a somewhat similar video in German a few days ago. He says basically that the modulators are your main advantage and the standout feature in Bitwig so use the shit out of it. Modulate basically everything! I might also add it's super fun and it's ridiculously easy to make your tracks sound interesting.

One of the best tutorials I've ever seen on bitwig, I'm going to try it all now!

Brilliant! Though hard to keep up, it was great seeing your creative process, and realizing it was a subtle masterclass on modulation in Bitwig. Nice to see videos like this, and congrats on your new track Addiction. Sounds amazing.

Hehehe it was a little speedy :)
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you dig the song

a lot of good ideas, modulators are infinite in possibilities. Not to mention, the ability also to modulate CC parameters for those physical synth toys we have :)

Or even their ability to send out CV (if your audio interface permits).

Hi Taches, loved the video,do you think it's possible you could do some videos on making sounds?I liked the above bass made on the polysynth, chords etc, and in general making sounds with any of bitwigs stock synths.

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Thanks for the idea! I can definitely make some stuff on this :)

Bitwig really tickles my math bone. I think of it like object oriented music making.

Very inspiring! It's almost like a compressed version of generative music, I love it!
When doing those advanced modulations, is it easy for you to go back and edit something, like, do you understand what it is you have made and what all the modulators do or do you just add more and more modulations and get lost in it?

    • @Trk-El-Son
      @Trk-El-Son ปีที่แล้ว

When a modulator is selected, in the inspector panel you get a list of every destination and their amounts. That is very useful.

It would be cool if the S&H module could be not only per-voice but per-assignment so it could generate a different value on each modulation target and you didn't need to make multiple copies.

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

YES! That would be EPIC :)

I admit I was a little baffled that nobody had commented on the "Flat Earther" thing at the start... and then I finally went and looked at your other videos. Haha! OK, that's pretty funny. :D If it's a strategy to get more views, it's working... the algorithm brought me here because it knows I use Bitwig and I've recently been watching Flat Earth debunking videos. Oddly enough, it's also offering me stuff about flat frequency response!

"Taches, which knobs do I modulate?" Taches: "Yes."

Whenever i build some more organic stuff i find myself "cheaping out" on the amount of LFOs i'm using. I know there's no real limit to how many modulators to add, but i just like the efficiency of having just a couple LFOs modulate a bunch of paramaters. I see you tend to add more modulation sources for new paramaters instead. Do you feel like there's an audible difference when the modulation just comes from the same LFO? Like, can the human ear actually pick up that let's say the pulse width and the cutoff are moving perfectly in sync?

Great video & example! For me though, modulators are a bane of my existance if I don't restrain myself - I can endlessly find ideas how & where to apply them, never being happy with the end result... I need to start bouncing stuff to audio and "commit" once it's "good enough" :D

Is it possible to modulate note operators? For example Repeats ?
