Dude! I'm a 45 year old cop finishing my bachelor's degree (FINALLY) and I'm taking a science lab with this stuff (accuracy, precision, significant digits, etc...). I was feeling like a complete idiot until I found your videos! You, Sir, are a life saver!! THANKS!!

Arrest me, boot licker. The police force was made as a monopolized investigative service and protection racket. It has taken generations for them to evolve into a militarized force that terrorizes the people who they're sworn to protect; those they see as enemy combatants. Bunch of brownshirt, evil statist fucks you are.

@t50n oh yeah, also watch my video "error and percent error," which also talks about what you'd do if you made a bunch of measurements that had different amounts of accuracy and precision. and thanks for your good question--it will help me make the videos better in the future.

@t50n good question! you use accuracy and precision when you're doing measurements, like in the lab or something. like maybe you're measuring the amount of gas in a balloon or something, and each person gets a slightly different answers. you want to be able to find out how accurate and/or precise your answers all are. make sense? in the second video "Accuracy and Precision 2" i show more about how you'd actually use this in a real world lab setting.

I'm not sure if I have that curse you speak of or not. I'm a flight instructor and teach aerodynamics and such. I like to understand the material very well and I try to come up with ways of explaining things clearly. I know when I was a student it bugged me when I couldn't get an answer either because the instructor didn't know or because they couldn't explain it well. I think the problem I have is that the students aren't motivated to learn. Most pilots just want to know the bare minimum.

Am i correct in saying that it is not possible to be accurate without being precise? I'm pretty sure if your answers are close to the accepted value then for sure your answers will also be precise... I've never seen an example of something being accurate without being precise.

As long as it will make them pass their test, they are happy and don't want to know anything else. It's a problem of rote learning - they don't care if they understand it or not. So it's tough teaching them. Some are great and love learning stuff but they are rare. I love teaching and I love being able to get a deep understanding of something but unfortunately not all people care about learning to understand something. As a pilot, that's not really a good thing in an emergency!

Did anybody realise how he didn't include a
    Precise? No
    Accurate? Yes
example because it is impossible to have measurements that are relatively far from each other but at the same time all are relatively close to a single point. It's like you are trying to make the information close AND far away from each other at the same time which is impossible
