Thank you!
Man I love this country, this is one of the most breathtaking roads I've been on, even in winter time. I love the Pat Metheny too
Thank you, have you seen my I-70 West in Colorado video?
now THAT is breathtaking. 13-60 Season Finale: I-70 in Colorado - King of the Mountains
I'm from NH but I am studying at college over 1,000 miles away. It is so beautiful and makes me miss home. Nothing compares to NH!
I'm a NH native too, living over 1,000 miles away, it's a beautiful state and am very fond of it but there are some pretty special places out west too, the more you see of the country, the more your perspective will change.

Jim, I think this is probably one of your best videos! I live in Maine and hope to make up to the "North Country" sometime.
Thank you, it's really beautiful up there, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Wow never seen a 2 laned interstate before. Nice vid!!
Thank you, there used to be a few, the West Virginia Turnpike and I-70 in Utah when they were first built come to mind, it's called a "Super 2".
Some of the most beautiful country in the East up there. Franconia Notch, Crawford Notch, Pinkham Notch. Kancamagus Highway. Mt. Washington Cog Railway, Bretton Woods Hotel. Love it!!
I was just elated watching your Woodstock, N.H. video and then this came up. All I can say is Excellent! Thanks for making this Jim & Son. This is the very same trail that I ride to get to the home of my youth in Whitefield, New Hampshire. I absolutely loved taking this ride with you. Great work!
Thanks for rising along, glad you enjoyed it!
What an amazing view, never thought of new Hampshire as a vacation destination but I am now
Thank you, Northern NH is a wonderful vacation spot, lots of attractions.
My husband and I used to stay in Bethlehem when we went skiing at Bretton Woods 🥰
WOW!!! Absolutely amazing, incredible, breathtaking, phenomenal, unbelievable and everything else. Pat Methany was the best music for that trip. Loved it. Thanx for posting this.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
It’s never sunny when I drive through there. You’re lucky! It’s a wonderful place to see on the way to and from Canada. I don’t know if you’ve done it yet but I highly recommend driving the Kancamagus Highway. It’s beautiful and just off I-93 in Lincoln!
I'm a NH native and have driven the Kancamagus many times, it is a great drive for sure.
Freewayjim Ah a fellow Granite Stater! It is beautiful up around there. I recently went up there in June and I’m going back up this weekend!
@@ShoppingForBlood I have not been up there since 2014 (I live in Atlanta), maybe next summer.
Awesome video! It has been over two years since I moved from CA to NH and I have yet to make this drive. I see now that I absolutely must!
Thanks, it's more quaint than what you'd see in California but it's definitely worth seeing and doing.
Robert Bates wwwww
The next time you take a video of a drive through Monument Valley, or Death Valley, or the Extraterrestrial Highway in Nevada, or middle of nowhere North Dakota or eastern Montana you should place "Discreet Music" by Brian Eno behind the video.....................(8^P
god watching this brings me thier its so peaceful and has a majestic feel i love it if you havent been here i highly suggest u go.
Yes I did, I feel it's the perfect song for this drive.
Awesome ride, Jim! I've got to add this to my favorites, stunning scenery! It reminds me a bit of the Columbia River Gorge in OR/WA. Keep up the good work!
Another Great Vid Jim!...I live about 60 miles away from here...And this is one of the most beautiful drives in the country....I love watching your videos!!!
Wow, that place is really beautiful! I had no idea. I had heard that New Hampshire was scenic, but didn't know it was like this.. wow!
This was excellent. Thanks for showcasing this, and helping me to remember that it's not just out west, where there are spectacular scenic treasures. I have have to admit that the 'Notch does remind me a bit of driving through Colorado, and that's really saying something. Putting this in the "favorites" list, and will be featuring it on my Facebook fan page, later this week.
Pat's music is often especially suited to driving.
Great job! That's the sort of scenery I really enjoy and IMO the music was an excellent match to the trip.
My family always goes on vacation and the best part is 1:23 as we approach exit 32 and take the road/ highway, get on Bear Notch Rd. and go to N. Conway
I lived in Franconia for 5 years and travelled this road daily to and from Lincoln. Spent tons of time in the notch. Most spectacular was experiencing alpenglow while traveling north one evening. This is a great vid!
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
Thanks for the rides....i have travelled with you to great many places sitting here in India...thanks for the experience....
Man what a great video! Makes me want to take a trip to "The Granite State". Those pretty green mountains were great.
Such a beautiful view and state, it makes me want to visit ther someday!!
Thanks, driving it certainly never gets old.
What a beautiful Labor Day!
thats beautiful
Thanks, you won't be disappointed, this road is even better in person.
Thanks Jim !!! Great video, Great Scenic View...
Wow- and I thought the Balboa Park Freeway in California- I think the 163 through Balboa Park to be specific- was the most scenic but this one takes the cake!!! I can't believe the scenery, beauty of this highway! WOW....
great name you have freeway jim its like jungle jim but full of open spaces blue skies and freedom
Thanks!
That was great Jim. Genius to do a shot-by-shot remake of the stretch. And hey, I love trees! Thankful though that no moose run rampant in Illinois!
We drove this stretch only two days before you filmed this. Beautiful country up there.
Awesome video!
Thanks for watching!
I remember when I was a kid before the parkway existed. 93 ended at Franconia Notch which became the old Rt 3, then you'd be able to pick 93 back up after going thru the notch area.
Very good video, all look familiar , as I used to ski Canon mt. cheers
Awesome!
My dad loves this song!
Beautiful drive!
This was filmed back in Mid-June.
I've been through Framcpnia Notch somewhere in the 1990s on our way to Loon Mountain by North Woodstock and Lincoln. That's where they had the Highland Games in mid September and thed resort for skiers in winter. We also camp at a nearby campground.
I remember the music and the Highway you're on. It must be a remake of Franconia Notch again.
great video jim love it keep them up
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The Moose are even more prevalent on the US and State highways up there.
Totally feeling this Wii fit music for such a lush green video game like setting
Wii Fit Music? This is a 20 time Grammy Winning Jazz Legend on the soundtrack, please show some respect! :)
Freewayjim haha yes only throwing some light hearted shade!! Got to say this is one of my favorite drives in the whole country, it may not have the same wow factor grandeur that say million dollar highway or Snoqualmie pass has, but it's still amazing. I think the first time I was there was actually around the time you uploaded this. In love with new England ever since!
It's the same as before. *clicks on 720p* Ooh, nice. Scenic. Better quality!
Glad you liked it, and thanks!
Wow that is one of the most pretty sites on the eastcoast
Wonderful!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery, Jim! I've traveled all over New England in my life - why have I never traveled this road????? Might be time for a road trip this autumn!
Thanks, it really is!
Thank you very much!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Thank you, there's much more on the way.
One of the few super two lane Interstates.
I wanted to go through here in 1977!
Cool, will look forward to seeing it.
Thank you!
I think it's the part between Salem and Manchester that's being widened. And someone told me it's becoming four lanes each way, when I was expecting three.
Thanks for joining us!
Thanks!
You'd love Northern NH, hope you get a chance to visit someday.
One interested fact you could have added: this section of road (then U.S. Route 3 pre-I-93) was the site of the now legendary Barney & Betty Hill UFO abduction in 1961.
Maine is the last state that have exit numbers changed from sequiential order to milepost numbering system in 2004. Why not Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and even New Hampshire have their exit numbers change from sequiential to a milepost numbering system along the interstate highways? So does Delaware. Delaware only have 24 miles of I-95 from a Maryland to Pennsylvania state lines.
Thank you! glad you joyed it :)
Nice work remaking this drive, Jim. Too bad you couldn't pass, "Little Miss Sunshine," like in the original video...
By the way, do you make it into Vermont on this trip? Are we going to see an updated I-91 video towards White River Junction from your original now 6 years young?
Yup, 8 lane Salem to Manchester (4 per direction). With the whole rotary thing just south of the MA/NH border in Methuen, MassDOT =MAY= widen to 8 lanes from Wilmington to NH just so they don't look stupid going from 4, to 3, back to 4 not long later, for no apparent reason.
Thanks! I doubt I'll be getting up that way anytime soon.
Yes it's a remake, much better footage and production than the original 5 years ago.
The only states in "New England" which have mileage based exit #s are Maine and Connecticut. And the latter, only Interstate 395.
Thanks! before and after the Notch is traditional interstate I'd say.
Prior to 1974 the Speed Limit was 70 (on the sections that were completed at that time) In 1974 the US set the NATIONAL Speed Limit to 55 MPH as a means of coping with the "Energy Crisis" at that time then at some point in the 80's when the National Speed Limit was abolished it was raised back to 65. A speed limit of 70-75 would be proper IMO.
Nah, I would not have added that had I even known it, but you did here and that's OK :)
I saw a part in the video that i-93 should be widened from two to four lanes.
I've never driven that route before, unless I have some reason to go that way I doubt I'll film it.
Those are taken from photographs I shot along the way.
When did they start building Interstate 93?
Sorry ....I did film Albany on the way back however.
4th time I've watched this now.
The only minor thing I don't like about this road, is where it becomes only ONE lane each way! I feel like this I-93 is the only interstate that does that. Hopefully, New Hampshire does something about that soon. . .
I heard there is a one laned stretch of interstate somewhere in northern new england. Have you ever driven on it Freewayjim? Sure must suck when some slow sucker is going 50 in front of you on that with no room to pass.
wow im stupid i didn't even watch the entire video to see you have it recorded here. lol.
Yes, many times, it's in this video starting at 3:55
These mountains are what West Virginia wishes they had.
In that case, I hope MassDOT does, especially so that they get rid of the breakdown lane travel. They're doing that with 128 between Wellesley Hills and Randolph, so why wouldn't they do it here?
His face collapsed for lack of a better term, read the wiki entry for "The Old Man of the Mountain" for more info.
Yeah, unless you're heading to the far reaches of northern NY (why?!) or Montreal, you don't have much reason to make this big of a detour. That doesn't stop the request, but it does provides understandable reasoning towards why it will never be fulfilled by your artistry.. :)
When did they finally get Interstate 93 all done?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_93
Where do you get all your sign images?
Oh yeah. I'm still going to make a request that you do I-87 between Lake George and Keeseville, NY, but compared to this it's nothing.
Better graphics too!
How come the trees in the northeast and northwest look so much better than trees in the south?
I never noticed a difference.
LOL, thanks.
Can you plead email this video accessible to mobile viewers?
are you using a go pro
+Ben Beaulieu No, I'm using a Sony Camcorder, my gear is listed in the closing credits.
Exit signs too?
No, I went back down I-93 to Boston for 5 videos.
Ah, yes, the city of cancelled highways. And specialty interchanges.
