The biggest flaw in the whole concept of The Freak was that she constantly outsmarted everyone and therefore got away with her behaviour, however she never learned that her actions had consequences. Dead dog No. 2.

You can't really blame Wally for being a free spirit. When he described his relationship with Ann in casual terms as a "setup", she reacted with moody silence and short answers. Several times he would ask her what's wrong, but she would refuse to talk. It seems she has difficulty expressing her feelings, and that could only lead to problems.
I think this story arc was out of character for Wally they obviously wanted to enhance the dramatic value of Ann's health scare so had Wally get laid , I would have expected the Wally the writers have been portraying to reach out to Ann and try harder to find out what was bothering her.
Awful that Major was killed, they should leave things like that out. I'd say Elspeth Ballantyne, Betty Bobbitt and the others had great fun filming the mock-trial scenes during Joan's 'trip'.

I think its implied that Joan killed the dog when she was tripping and stabbing everything in site with those conveniently placed scissors the dog would have been too much to handle for the two goons without them getting hurt they probably set her up to kill the dog who would have had its defences down when she started stabbing the poor fellow.
I laughed more at Pixie discovering her punching skills. Actually with the nimble footwork she looked more like a trainee boxer, but the way she holds up her fists looks so funny. I feel so sorry for Ann being afraid to tell anyone what's so obvious but I think she acted this great, even down to the way the camera zooms in on her when she makes the doctors' appt. And it's a good story to help raise awareness of such an important issue as breast cancer. As for the freak, poor Major :(
After being blackmailed by Sonia, hanged by Phyllis and co and heavied on two occasions by Fellows' hoodlums, it's lovely to see the Freak finally get a little taste of her own medicine. It's a pity Bridges didn't help her to "escape"!
I did like the effects they did with the camera like the zoom on Meg's face and the pan across the room too the Freak and the zooming on on Ann. It does add a certain dramatic effect to things.

Its actually pretty true to life people like Pinochet , Richard Nixon Colonial Gadafi ,Hitler and Stalin went through life without being brought to justice or evaded it until they had done their worst. The department must have known she was up to no good but kept her on for the sake of prison control. morally driven individuals like Smith don't usually last long in the real world so at least the show got that across while still being entertaining.

Plus, she doesn't have any friends which I can understand based on her attitude. Makes me wonder what her past life before working in a prison was. That final episode was one long dream sequence. McGoohan had to escape to the Welsh countryside as the viewing public were irate with how the series ended and he didn't want any trouble. Of course, Lew Grade was ultimately to blame, having "unfunded" plans for a third series. It's still the finest series of the 1960s, though. Timeless and becoming more relevant as the years go by.
