He will give sincere interviews, he just doesn’t do it in mass media or situations where the audience is likely hoping for him to be in character.
If you want candid Nathan, checkout when Christopher Nolan interviewed him and Benny Safdie, or the recent Hollywood Reporter interview with him and Emma Stone. There’s also a few podcasts appearances over the years he’s had where he’s not in character.
