- Dragon ball xenoverse 2 has one of the most loyal fan bases out there but it also has a good amount of haters who love to say this game is dead and no one really plays it anymore but the newest tournament event clearly shows that is not the case and that A LOT of people are still playing xenoverse 2 in 2023.

Fixing Netcode can be difficult. I'm sure Bandai has tried to fix it.
As someone who’s been playing this game for almost 6 years now
and was on and off about it at certain points
The netcode was always an issue for me and it never got better over the years
Which is very unfortunate because it’s a very good game
If it works then I think this game really deserves rollback or at least better online
Kind of like DBFZ or Any other online game that’s virtually lagless

The main reason I don’t play anymore is too many cutscenes during the dlc PQs, I’ll be on a roll about to revenge death ball the boss all the way to death and boom, my attack is canceled and I’m out of my ki, lost 30 seconds of time and I’m done for. That being said it is not dead by any means 10/10 game I have around 700 hours into

All part of the grind and the pattern of the PQ, you get used to the cutscenes after a while, timing your attacks is everything. I have over 13k hours, I'm just used to it myself

I don't imagine it dying before Budokai Tenkaichi 23. We might be done with DLCs, but they'll keep updating it at least for another year.
Played this game for 7 years & to this day I am not even the slightest getting bored of playing it.

I love X2, I put time into it, I invested time and effort into it. But I'm slowly just get bored of it and I hate to say that. For as much wacko damage we can all do to each other now, I haven't understood why we aren't getting like at least another bar and a half of life. And I feel like we should be able to transform up from SS to SSBE by now.

(Mostly PvE PC Player) I've actually been playing Xenoverse 2 more lately and enjoying it making my CACs cooler, kinda excited for Orange Piccolo and I wish Super Masenko would be added to the game as a 2-bar super for us to use (similar to Earth-Splitting Galick Gun or similar attacks)
I've been doing some very light modding and it's making my experience more enjoyable
The main games I play (dbx2, nfs heat, dbfighterz, project cars 3)
get labeled they're dead all the time, everytime I play, the lobbies in these games are full everyday
We are still getting the 16th DLC to this game right

I’m on switch lol but I tend to stick to Expert mission 16/17 and the PQ Explosion on Namek for grinding reasons lol.
Like I said on Twitter, “dead game” is such a subjective term. You shouldn’t take it too seriously anymore. People will have their own reasons for why they think a game is dead FOR THEM. Since we’re talking numbers, the majority of the people who “participated” in the tournament have 0-40 points, meaning that they only played one match and then stopped. This means most people played the tournament out of curiosity, played one match, and then got off to do something else. Only a handful of players are ACTIVELY participating. On top of that, even if we want to guess and say that there was 20-40k people that played the tournament, that still doesn’t account for 1% of the game’s sales. The game has sold over 8+ million units. 1% of 8 million is 80k. This means that less than 1% of the game’s total sales played this tournament. The daily average player count would be even lower. So taking that into consideration, because not even 1% of the game’s sales are even playing the game, some would consider that game to be dead. I’m not saying it is, I’m just looking at it from a different perspective. Honestly, if people say the game’s dead, who cares? Pay them no mind. All that matters is that you still enjoy it. I’m saying all this cuz you always seem to address this topic every time a new tournament comes out. All these videos do is prove that the current state of the game’s player count is in question. If a game was truly alive and thriving, you wouldn’t have to always make videos trying to prove that it is, because everyone would already agree with that notion. By making these videos, you’re only validating people that say that it is dead.
I agree with your overall point but you only considered tournament playerd when addressing the player count. Those that only playef 1 match may not have got off to do something else amd participated in some other form of content from the game like farming expert missions, pqs or normal pvp

A decent sized portion of them probably got on the game just to see what the event was, and then got off entirely if they weren’t interested. That’s why I did, and I’m someone who makes content for the game. I played one match to see what characters were, and then I got off the game.
I didn't even do the event😂 i am kinda done with squash matches all day🤣 either i completely destroy my opponent or they completely destroy me, there is no inbetween😮 i only PVE or play crystal raid battles

it ain't just the codes. I've personally have left just waiting for raid bosses to return. and by the time I came back the raid I was waiting for had already past. the tp medal shop has the same clothes coming in out of it every 2 weeks. the best part of the tp shop is the randomness of the super souls catalog. but if they made the clothes just as random. it would simply bring alot more players in and back. not just clothes but accessories. they can make them expensive. I would pay 1500 medals for a full outfit, not some floating doll

I thought this game was garbage before but when i finnaly got into it about 3 months ago I've come to agree that this game is sick but has MANY issues that make it a chore to play.
I bought it yesterday. NO ONE in the lobby / city?! Man, I already regret it. 20 euros gone. Because they make sure you can't test it properly within the 2-hour refund period.
Bro as someone who been playing ten kachi 3 and xenoverse and exnoverse 2 but yes this is very factual but the "games IS NOT DEAD" it is always alive and mainly this series yes have A huge fanbase this is why my estimate of exnoverse 3 is gonna be huge and get wlot of players.

Xenoverse 2 is not about luxury, it's about having fun.
As a person who loves this game to death I will say Rollback Netcode is a problem, and I try not to let it bother me, however I do admit something’s like the online events upset me, like the difficulty to get all customization keys or lack of Tapion outfit, and the fact that Modders on console are still as annoying as ever. But the game in my opinion is still 10/10 clocked in at 2600 hours since the day I first got it

Modders who interfere with online are wastes of online players and don't deserve to be in Xenoverse.
If we can’t get it just because of grinding rates, could just take ps4 save data off console into usb then use ps4 save editor software to unlock it. why not

There are so many reasons as to why this game is still successful and still popular to many but to me, the game can feel "dead" sometimes but that's because I only play Crystal Raid since I don't like PVP and Demon Crystals can be hard for some people to get in order to host Crystal Raid in the first place therefore making the game feel "dead" even though It's not lol

Considering I can block a cheeser on Xbox and still find a hit player right after. I think this game will be live for a very long time. The cheeses especially will never have a game like this they can win on. 😂
Just checked and screenshot the final post-tourney number on Xbox servers and there were definitively 7392 entrants on the xbox servers. Then like you said think of how many people still play and didn’t play the tourney. X2 has had over 9 mil players world wide and I’d argue that at least a few hundred k if not over half a mil people still at least semi actively play this game.
Let em call it dead it's clearly not with how big its fanbase is, it's not that crazy that it's still alive to me tho. I know plenty of much older games with active fanbases still I personally still play games from 2007

If xeno is dying why do i keep getting new players showing up in the parallel quests tour all the time for lv 6 QQs very subjective if it's based on a pvp only point of view but the game has slowed down over the year's however it's still going strong

I stay making cac characters, original dbz and self cacs, it's fun testing out builds and trying new things and techniques, just make a new cac, you'll be thinking of possibilities 😉
I legit played this game ever since the 1st XenoVerse and I just gotta say I still enjoy playing it I bought it on my ps5 to play with my home boys and regrinded the game with em and we still grinding and pvp all the time I played it on Xbox but most of my Xbox online friends stopped playing it
Xenoverse 2 is an awesome game with just a few flaws and things that need to be fixed

There is a huge downside to this game for many passionate players..
This game has sooo many customization options and skills to chose from to make their own dream DB custom character only to realize that 90% of the skills and ultimates are either trash or very very weak compared to the rest 10%, so in order to make a viably strong character one has to actually chose from the very very few meta options..
This drastically limits the game.
@ratchet2002 The difference is actually much more noticeable and pve.. In pvp 80% of the match relies on basic attacks..
I’ve been playing since DLC 12 and I love this game more than any other game on PlayStation, it’ll always have a place in my heart
The only way they would fix the online compatibility maybe bring it back to how XenoVerse 1 was in the selection process And if the collaborators and influences on TH-cam got behind someone for a tournament of power so to speak

I've logged off this game for 6 whole months, came back to it a few weeks ago and it mostly wasn't a good time. Aside from very few fun matches that were had and seeing my CACs again and laughing at how pathetic cheesers and modders are online, that's all there was to it.
There's just so many things wrong with the game that have lasted for many years. A tiny percentage of those things being fixed but not even close enough to salvage the game. When the game works, and there's no cheese or abusive mechanics happening, it's very solid. When there's any kind of lag, whether it'd be false hit confirms for you but not the enemy, the enemy time skipping all over the place and you can't focus on them, or the lag being so bad that the game just straight up closes the match due to a connection error.
What pisses me off beyond belief about this game is that the developers and Bandai act like it's fine. Constant DLC updates, events, raids, and small updates from time to time, as if the game is in a generally working state when it simply isn't. That just brings me to the conclusion that they don't care about the series and only want money from it.
The Xenoverse series has always and will continue to be my go to example for the most missed opportunity for video games. With Budokai Tenkaichi 4 in the works, there's not only no reason to go back to the game, but I think it will surely die once it's released (Unless they find ways to mess up BT4)
Edit: And if this series somehow manages to find life and longevity then it just shows how financially successful the game has been and how much the name of it alone means to people. It just sucks so much that they refuse to give it tweaks for improvement.
It's sad because it has so much potential too. Getting beat by the cheesiest/laggiest 16 year old who think they are good because they are invincible for 80% of the match just hits different. Roll on tenkaichi 4
@@linkueicatastrophe9727 What sucks about that as well is that new players feel like this is what they NEED to do to become "good" at the game when it just isn't the case. Whether it's grab spamming with DBS Broly or ki cancelling, it's really horrible that new players can't even go at their own pace with the game and just watch abusive mechanics and go "oh so that's how it was meant to be played". Steedoj had a video on just that.

@@TheBigDynamo I have likely seen that video already. If you play offline and try to ki cancel when someone vanishes and they proceed to block, they can reflect the ki blast at you and it keeps you in place. This doesn't just happen with hit. This proves how messed up the hitboxes are and can help to prove that ki cancelling is not an Intentional feature.
The saddest things for me are the state of netcode and constant dlc with no news of xeno 3.
@@linkueicatastrophe9727 Another flaw with ki cancelling is how you can't move out of it while your opponent is blocking your melee but you can do it any other time. It's just an oversight that they've literally never bothered to fix, just like the inconsistency with the Male Saiyan light string.
I so badly want the PvP in this game to be good because aside from raids, there's not really much I could look forward to in the game. Sometimes I'll hope that I'll get a good game desperately in PvP, but it just doesn't happen. Not even with friends sometimes. Most times it's good with friends, but sometimes not. I know the game can't be perfect but to have these issues for YEARS with people complaining only for them to not do anything is just sad.
Xenoverse 2 is soo good that Xenoverse 3 not even needed. Maybe that what dimps is thinking😂 and confident that it will still hold out even when budokai tenkaichi 4 shows up 😊 well Xenoverse 2 will always be a brilliant game 🎮 👏

Well it needs net code fixes and so on. I think they should do the same thing like shinobi striker just do a renovation on the game add hair mechanism when you transform add clothes effects add the sound when your in ss2 or 3 and so on. There many things they can add and change to make the game even that much better 😀
game is just getting annoying at this point half of my matches on ranked are cheese nameks or jump spike and evil whirlwind i cant play on my non cheese presets
So I quit playing this game when the balance got completely and utterly thrown out of wack. You can't even attempt to play in unrestricted it's just a 1 shot fest. Now even limitations applied has gotten insanely broken with moves that are just STUPID OP. Not to mention seeing how busted beast modes stamina break combo is it's a male human / hit stamina break.
Plus never fixing the net code is inexcusable

random dude here from Europe on ps4. It take me (in the worst worst worst scenario) like 1 minute to find a match in ranked with limit on. I see this as an absolute win
It might not be dead but I can almost never get online matches on Xbox unless it’s during prime hours of the day time and even then 3v3 I can’t play nobody is online. I love DBZ and have watched all the shows some of them multiple times through. So it’s not like I don’t want it to work lol

Back in 2015, i was watching every character reveal for xv1 and thinking wow, this game gonna be big. Xv1 is the only game ever i bought on first day of release, because of how crazy it looked and i wanted ssj4 vegeta.
I was an awesome game, but needed some work. Then xv2 came out with all the dlc of newest content and upgraded mechanics, and even after all these years, i must say it might be THE best db game ever. Bt3 and xv2 are clearly leagues above the rest, atleast for me. I think the perfect dbz game is fuse bt3 and xv2. Fast paced xv2 gameplay with bt3 transformation mechanics where your moveset changes and you can start at whatever transformation also beam clashes. Include sdbh stuff and it would be insane

I wouldn’t say the game’s dead but the offline/online content has dried up. Outside of DLC there’s nothing that keeps the game going.
as someone that never, and I mean NEVER, cared remotely about the online aspect of XV2 it is a game that I just don't uninstall and go back to from time to time, I would love if Bandai got their shit together and put in rollback and made the online even remotely playable so I don't have to avoid it like the plague, at least I can play revamp which is a far better improvement than anything BN released in the last 3 years
Cus right now it's the only online dragon ball experience we have that's easy to learn and fun to get into ounce the new gamr comes out xenoverse 2 will die

I let this rock but nah after the tournament I can't. Now lemme preface I've been with this game from the 1st anniversary and I've been here throughout it ALL and still play it. So you know my word is valid. Xenoverse 2 is still trash and still DEAD.
For a game with over a 100 million copies sold 11k in just NA: one of dragon balls hotspots for popularity is telling. All the og gods of the game have left and it's a cesspool of toxic fools who die in secs without their literal utility belt of escapes. The netcode is just 1, 1 in a LONG list of issues with this game the devs are literally fuckin us over with the dumbest decisions imaginable, example Vados got a Nerf... Vados a C tier character at best that NOBODY USES they think deserved a Nerf.
The tournament proves the downfall of the game because not only are the numbers pitiful to what they should be the players in it are identical. Hit or Blue Goku or Ui you'll be lucky to find something else and they all play the same or trash and get washed or saved by their endless exploits and advantages of picking a better character objectively. It's sad.
