River to River Trail, Day 5: Ferne Clyffe to Giant City (28 mile)

This was a momentous day for several reasons. This part of the trail is grand, crossing the tallest spot on the trail (which has some beautiful vistas) and many rock formations. It was also momentous as we entered what we always consider our home territory. It was deeply heartwarming to see all the places we know with the new eyes of having arrived at them on foot, westbound on the trail. I love all of this trail, but this day and the two that followed it are my favorite miles.
