Amazingly he speaks with almost no accent. He sounds English with hint of American (but not mid Atlantic) with just a touch of South African and tiny bit Australian. Mostly these accents cancel each other out so it's mostly very mild received pronunciation English. Coetzee has his own unique hybrid accent, amazing!

I think you're misreading it. It's a very upperclass South African accent, spoken by someone who spent a lot of time in England.
